The breakfast was simple but delicious. The scones were different and so tasty. The location, we could not ask for a better view from our room. Not only could you hear the ocean you could see it from your bed too.

The only thing I did not like was the steep stairs to the room and the door opening out onto the stairs. Maybe a rail should be added for the last 3 steps inside the bedroom.

Andy & Dee are so excellent hosts.Such a lovely couple. The Paternoster is such an excellent place. So peaceful, quiet, super beautiful Paternoster. Excellent views , super nice people staying there, good restaurants & food. Can't say enough. We had the best relaxing 3 days there just by walking the village and chilling in our huge suite. We highly recommend Gilcrest Guest house. Also, the breakfast was so cute with all the decorations from Dee. JUST outstanding. It was just WOW.

We like PATERNOSTER

Dee and her husband have set a new standard for 4 star graded guesthouses when it comes to the sea view room. So much attention to detail has gone into this room where I stayed for 2 nights in total.

I don't have the solution to the problem however it would be great had there not been a parking place for a car in front of the entrance. As I said, I can't see how they can avoid this.

Our loft room was super-comfortable, and very well appointed. Inclusion of a milk-warmer would have been a boon to coffee-time, and a re-look at the shower head (there are some really great heads available) would be the only (very minor) suggestions! The breakfasts were excellent - lovely continental selection with cooked option of the day on request. And ..... a view to die for. Friendly check in, leisurely departure - this hostelry has everything to recommend it by. There is nothing to not recommend Gilcrest Place! We loved it.

Andy and Dee are the perfect hosts: South African hospitality at its best. They serve a superb continental and cooked breakfast. I especially liked indulging in the variety of bread and local cheeses while overlooking the Atlantic. This guesthouse is excellently located, with very comfortable and beautifully decorated bedrooms, all of this at a stones throw from the beach and Paternoster's foodie scene. Highly, highly recommended!

Great hosts. Upstairs room was spacious and with a lovely view. Extra little area to sit with a bottle of wine and watch the sea. Cute pets running around. Very comfortable and location is great.

Some building noise but nothing you can do about that and it will be over soon. Some more options for breakfast would be nice but nothing was wrong.

Breakfast was freshly cooked and served in a light airy room with an excellent view. The location of Gilcrest is excellent within easy walk of the town centre. The views from our first floor bedroom were quite the best of our holiday. Morning coffee in bed with an unobstructed view out over the bay.

The view could disappear when the sea fog rolled in - Not the fault of the management ! Kitchen smells were intrusive in the bedroom.

Lovely B&B. We enjoyed the welcome, the view from the front/breakfast room and the walk along the beach. Breakfast was very nice too! Although we had a room without a view of the sea, there was a small area to sit outside which was lovely. Our room was spacious, as was the bathroom. It was perhaps a bit dark as there were shutters onto the walkway, so maybe not a room for more than a few days stay. Our hosts were very helpful and welcoming (as were the dogs!). Paternoster was fine, although lots of building going on and not hugely full of character. I appreciated the list of restaurants we were sent in advance, and ate at the Noisy Oyster which we enjoyed. All in all a nice stay. We appreciated the bottle of wine for the noise due to the installation of the solar panels etc, which was a nice touch even though we hadn't been particularly disturbed!

The room didn't have any particular view at all as there were shutters for privacy - although to be fair not much liklihood of people passing in front.

This is my second stay and I loved it as much as the first time. I stayed in the upstairs room with the beautiful view of the ocean. Bliss. Comfortable bed, lovely breakfast and staff. The owner is there to welcome you at breakfast and check in on you daily.

Beautiful view, lovely veranda to sit outside, super comfortable bed.. Room was beautifully decorated, with everything needed to make ones stay perfect. Absolutely stunning garden with abundant birdlife, which we really enjoy.

Nothing... everything was perfect. We were sorry we could only stay 1 night...
