Look no further! This hotel was by far the nicest room that I stayed in, and was not an outrageously priced hotel like near by Positano. The porters were very friendly and informative, the hotel was easy to get to by car (or bus), and it had an elevator to the main floor (stairs the rest of the way, but it's the Amalfi- so expect it). The hotel is on the "opposite end" of what most would say is the main square of Praiano- but I loved it. The "main" square was still a doable walk. I had an incredible private balcony that was ocean front- so watching the sunset over the water was just stunning. Not to mention the full moon that was taking place during my stay. The room was extremely clean, with all amenities you would need (the front desk has a garment steamer for you to borrow) and the Breakfast that was included was very substantial- not just sweet pastries. The best part was their private dock! I was able to get a private water taxi transfer to Positano so that I could enjoy the town and its beautiful shops and restaurants as long as I wanted, but didn't have to pay the price of staying there. Not to mention having that boat ride along the coast to get there- breath taking! Praiano was in my top two places I stayed along the Amalfi Coast- because it was such a quaint town, but had so much to offer. The proximity to the major Amalfi towns was ideal, but the authenticity of the town was the best. True family owned ceramic shops, family owned restaurants (my best meal was here in Praiano) and it even had an a nightclub bar in a cave, which was within a 5-10 minute walking distance from the Hotel. If you are planning a trip to the Amalfi Coast, you MUST book Hotel Villa Maria Pia for at least two nights, if not more!!

From the moment we arrived, the staff couldn't have been friendlier or more willing to help. Nothing was a problem. The location was fab as it was much quieter than Amalfi and Positano, which were easily accessible by the local bus or water taxi. The room was large and spacious and clean, fresh towels daily and cleaned daily. The buffet style breakfast was vast with something for everyone, very fresh meats and fruits. we felt we were part of their home, not in a hotel. Massive bonus was the steps leading directly to sea ( no beach) but a jetty to jump from and climb out. Also, the water taxi can collect you from here.

Had a great stay at Hotel Villa Maria Pia. The hotel is right on the water, so there are beautiful views of the ocean and coastline whilst eating breakfast. Quiet and relaxing area, but also there is a bus stop right outside the hotel which made it very easy to travel to Amalfi or Positano (or around Praiano if you don’t want to climb stairs). The staff were friendly and helpful, especially when our aircon wasn’t working, they fixed it straight away. The breakfast each morning was good and had enough variety. We would recommend this hotel to everyone as we had a wonderful stay.

The buffet breakfast was excellent, beautiful fresh food and great variety everyday. The cleanliness of the hotel was great and the location was superb, easy walk to the marina and having a boat dock at the hotel was also very handy. The hotel offered a shuttle service to go into town of an evening and they were great at recommending and booking various restaurants for us. Prior to arriving Nello and Julia were also very helpful with arranging private transfers and information about boat tours etc.

The people at the hotel could not be more helpful. We would have been completely lost without the assistance of Nello and his team. Prior to leaving the UK and Spain Nello went out of his way to make sure we were happy with all arrangements. We were picked up from the airport and felt completely pampered. Thank you everyone at Villa Maria Pia you helped us have a wonderful break in such a beautiful location.

The only slightly negative was the availability of bar snacks. After a long day, we decided on just a snack at the hotel rather than go out. The menu was limited and the chef a bit hmmmmm chef-like. Not enough to spoil anything as overall we were delighted with the staff, the location and the facilities.

Absolutely exceptional location: quiet small hotel with a stunning view and the private access to the sea, but not the beach. There is a grotto just below the hotel, which is very nice, but gets a bit noisy during the day as this is one of the typical point of interest for the daily boat trips. We had a private terrace, and this is where we spent most of our day, if we stayed inside the hotel.

Breakfast was unexpectedly simple for a 4 star hotel. It’s not practical to use a car due to narrow roads and very active local traffic. So, one is forced to use private boats to explore the coast, which are somewhat overpriced.

This was the perfect place for our stay on the Amalfi Coast. The hotel is located in the middle of all of the main attractions on the coast and the pier makes it incredibly easy to take a water taxi or get picked up for boat tours. The views from the hotel terraces are beautiful and it is far more quiet than some of the busier places in Positano and Amalfi. The hotel staff was extremely kind and helpful and even gave us a ride into the town of Praiano for dinner and picked us up after dinner. They also helped us organize a number of different tours and car services. We would highly recommend this hotel and hope to be back someday!

Boy did my wife and I luck out! This is the definition of 'waterfront', even to the point of the 4-minute walk down steps to the water! The entire property appeared as though renovated just last week, with the room, view, amenities, all well above expectation. We got excellent recommendations for nearby restaurants and hints for activities, and not a single request that was not cheerfully and quickly filled. The owners were as pleasant to talk to as they were professional, and all staff easily get 8s out of 5! You'll get so stuffed on all the varied selection and delicious food at breakfast that there'll be no eating anything more until dinner!

What didn't I like? I didn't like wasting time trying to recall anything I didn't like.... I didn't even mind taking the extra time for a more detailed positive review, as it's clearly deserved.

Very nice room furnished in Italian style, clean and comfortable. Wonderful see view. Wonderful breakfast area with see views, nice breakfast. Access to the sea along the stairs. Quite nice private platform for swimming and sunbathing, water taxi opportunities to Positano or Amalfi from there, nice cave next to the platform. Private parking lot for a fee. Bus stop nearby the hotel with very convenient buses to Positano and along the Amalfi coast. Price quite OK for Amalfi coast. Everything was perfect.

Great location and very friendly and helpful staff. Great breakfast. Beautiful view and handy pool. The small private dock is great for a swim and to get a taxi boat to nearby Positano or Amalfi.

Besides the breakfast which was very nice, the hotel food isn’t great but plenty of other options nearby. Also we were disturbed on the first night by a loud guest - not the hotel’s fault but the soundproofing in the rooms isn’t perfect. Also ear plugs are conveniently provided.
