Decor was gorgeous and so were the grounds / farm.

The dinner service each night was quite long as a set menu is on offer. We did the set menu one night and a la carte the next. But a la carte also takes quite a while and seems timed to the set menu service. As a suggestion it would be nice to have some trail maps for walking and biking around the property. We found it difficult to know where we could go to get some exercise and explore.

What an incredible place to visit! The rooms are so comfortable, stylish and just a delight to be in. The food is SUBLIME! Tasting menu is a must! The kids went on a Stud Farm tour that they enjoyed so much! My son enjoyed riding the bike. I really cant wait to come and visit in summer to enjoy the spectacular gardens in full bloom. The staff are all so kind and caring! Thank you for an amazing time!

Would be nice for the Tennis court to be working and the dam to have fish in. My son is an avid fisherman and was looking forward to some fishing but there is no fish in the dam.

We keep coming back to this magical part of KZN because of the staff. That team is stellar. Nothing is too much trouble and they go above and beyond for our little family. We also absolutely love their lakeside suites. We’ve also seen an improvement in their food offering and Nkululeko, the new sous chef, who I’m sure is going to bring a freshness and simpler approach to the food menu. He trained under Jackie Cameron so I know good things are coming💛 The new padel court is also a nice touch.

The roads to get there are a challenge but once you’re there, it’s so worth it.

It was like paradise, loved the roses, the tallest most beautiful trees, the old world charm that was gracious and quaint. The horses the beautiful green hills, everything was close but you had your space, just gorgeous . The drive through Mooi River was a little sad, as it’s so run down, but as soon as you enter the property you are transported into a different world. The small details put in place to ensure you are comfortable was unlike I have seen. Truly remarkable spot right here in KZN. PLUS The breakfast was fabulous, with Parma ham, melon and delicious homemade muffins and followed by some delightful unique hot served breakfasts … plus one of the best cappuccino’s !!

Nothing, it’s so well looked after it’s perfection.

Very peaceful country location with nice scenic views when out walking. Very well appointed and comfortable rooms with everything you need. Excellent 6 and 4 course dinners. Breakfast was equally varied and tasty. Justin and his team were brilliant in the kitchen and Justin was visible at dinner and breakfast to ensure everyone enjoyed the food.

Harford House seems to be trading off its former reputation and the overall standard of service is not as high or attentive as you would expect. Lack of management presence and insufficient staff training are probably responsible for this situation. Rather unfriendly messages on signage and the check out protocol was not guest focused in attitude.

All meals great. Rooms cosy, comfortable and of a decent size.

Carrying all the bottles and other goodies to the breakfast table was a bit of a hassle. The dinning room in the evening a bit drafty - candle flame at 45 degrees? Bathroom louvres tilted such that someone outside could look down to see someone in the bath. (This is a common problem as people automatically close louvres from the inside not realising that they are making it easier for someone outside to look in.) We arrived in the dark, not sure where to park - sign hidden in overgrown foliage.

The location is gorgeous, with beautiful manicured gardens and fields. Our room was fabulous, clean and comfortable, topped off with amazing views of the dam and green fields. Perfect for lazing about. We really enjoyed the holiday. Moreover, the food was delicious, the a la carte menu has a thoughtful selection of dishes. The property offers a 4 course or 6 course seated dining experience with a different menu each evening. The food is tasty, bursting with h flavour and plated beautifully. Bonus point, most of the desserts were gluten free or were tweaked to be gluten free for me and they were delectable.

The place was beautiful and the staff was amazing. Bab’ Cele was so helpful with our car that was stuck in the snow, and always greeting with a smile. Truly one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in, I will definitely be back !!

Just the road to the hotel in the snow was tricky and not easy to find on the GPS because it was dark and snowing

The picturesque setting with rolling meadows filled with grazing horses, housing beautifully designed, heritage applicable residences with modern finishes. The staff are accommodating, friendly and professional with just the right level of attention. The FOOD is unquestionably the highlight of the trip, both in terms of the view and atmosphere in the restaurants, as well as the quality and creativity applied to the locally sourced produce. It was a joy.

Beautiful scenery, newly renovated rooms, excellent food and good for peace and quiet

Nothing not to like! Everything you’d expect from a 5 star establishment. Staff wise;we did however ask for an early check in and they wouldn’t have us check in a minute earlier than 2pm. Also, while we waited for check in , it would have been nice for the staff to have offered us activities to do on the farm. We weren’t sure where to go / what to do. A map of the premise / farm would have been nice.
