We had a great time at The Castle in the Sand. It's right on the beach with an outdoor bar & restaurant on the premises. The breakfast buffet was definitely worth it not having to go anywhere and the food & service was great. We were very impressed with the staff who was always outside making sure everything was clean and taken care of. Can't wait to book our next stay here.

The only thing that I was surprised by was no elevator in the part we stayed in. It was listed as having an elevator but our building didn't have one. Other than the inconvenience of hauling our bags up the stairs everything else was great.

The one-bedroom C4 in the Castle cottage was cute. Clean, comfortable, and met our needs for our short stay. I would recommend. This was our first visit to "The Castle". The pool was delightful. It was clean, the right temperature & refreshing. The beach was accessible with plenty of room, and although we didn't use the food and drink service from Coconuts restaurant, that was unique. Coconuts was a "happening" place right on the dunes with good food and drinks. We were more into a quiet beach day or two, so know you can have a peaceful few days amidst the "action", particularly if you stay in a cottage.

Check the electric outlets in unit 4C. A few need to be replaced.

This was a very fun place! Connected restaurant/bar was along the beach, making a fun lively social atmosphere. The hotel was older but very well kept, soo clean in the room, the linens smelled fresh and beds were comfy, very spacious, gorgeous view of the bay! Staff made us feel so welcome, really felt like we were at a resort! Would love to do more family visits here.

The location was excellent. I've been coming here for 35 years but the place is really starting to look worn down. Staff is very friendly everywhere. Cleaning people doing the best they can! Unfortunately imo not worth the price anymore....sad! 😏

The place is getting so run down. The bathroom was in bad shape. Toilet tiny. Sink and tub discolored. Carpet needs replaced, and paint is needed desperately everywhere. The pool was freezing cold in August. Food prices at on-site restaurants have gotten outrageous.

Convenient to beach, almost midpoint OC, useful kitchen, nice bar grill area, gorgeous dune Large porch

Parking, we requested 2 spots, when downstairs cottage people arrived they asked us to move one car for their 2 cars. Area only could hold 3 cars, not 4. Air conditioners were loud. In small bedroom it was loud and didn't cool. Son was too tired didn't notice. Should keep small plunger so folks can plunge themselves. Bathroom, may be easier if towels shelves were in bathroom. Elevator near restaurant is very slow. I was exhausted and it just didn't move.

Cabin was cozy and well located next to the pool, bar/restaurant, and beach. Bed was comfortable and it didn't seem like there was a lot of outside noise.

I thought the bathroom was kind of weird though. I could barely fit inside the shower and it seemed there was room behind the shower to make bigger. Also toilet was practically kid's sized. I'm not a big person and by behind barely fit on it.

Check in was fast. Front desk agent was nice and helpful. Room was comfortable, clean and the view was amazing. I loved sitting on the balcony at night. Uber Eats had no problem finding our room. My kids slept so good. They didn't want to leave. Highly recommended for a family. The restaurant being located right on the premises was a bonus.

The toilet handle had to be held down for more than 5 seconds to fully flush. The parking was tricky at first but it wasn't hard to figure out. Walls are thin, I heard a couple's entire argument.

Really enjoyed staying here. We booked last minute to attend the Oceans Calling concert at the end of September after original accommodations with a friend didn't work out. The price was right, but considering the last minute nature, I wasn't expecting much. Boy was I pleasantly surprised. The room we had was ocean front with two double beds. The view was beautiful. Rooms were clean with modern updates. It was fairly quiet, although you could occasionally hear folks outside on the window side. The hallways were definitely aged though, dimly lit and roasting hot. Exterior of the hotels looked like a castle. It's not Excalibur in Las Vegas, but it's cute. My wife and I commented that our kids (age 12 and 10) would get a kick out of the exterior décor. (We didn't have kids with us, but it looks like they have children's activities throughout the summer from the website.) Coconuts bar was right under our portion of the hotel. Again, would probably be super fun in the summer months, but wasn't very crowded when we were there. Enjoyed a couple of very nicely made drinks. There was a breakfast restaurant/ice cream shop on the bottom floor of our hotel tower, but we didn't get a chance to check it out. Menu looked good though. The weather wasn't conducive for swimming in the pool (although that didn't stop a few people), but there is also a huge, Olympic-sized swimming pool at the front. Finally, the staff was awesome and very helpful, which can make all the difference. Parking was plentiful and the location was great for walking to restaurants, the boardwalk, the convention center, etc.

Elevator was a bit small and slow, but that's a minor complaint. They also still use actual keys! That was fine, but in an age where some hotels allow you to unlock your room from your smartphone, I was surprised to get a physical key (and anxiety about losing it!)

Everything about this place was awesome. Of course you'll get other visitors who will be loud or come knocking on your door if they're drunk, but that has nothing to do with the place. Everything was clean and housekeeping came during our stay, but we'd rather be undisturbed until we leave. Awesome location to the beach and short distance to the boardwalk. Would recommend.

I loved how the balcony had an ocean view & we had an excellent view of the Coconuts singers each night. I liked how it was set up like a mini apartment. We had a lot of room. All of the facilities worked in great condition.

We didn’t get maid service one day we were there (bed made, towels) which was fine. We went to the front desk to ask for towels to take a shower & one of the workers was a little rude to us for asking for towels since we hadn’t received any that day.
