The Coastal Inn exceeded our expectations which were low due to many poor reviews we read after we were booked. We were pleasantly surprised that everything was as we expected from the pictures and explanation on the site. Reading the bad reviews just made us leery/nervous, and that ended up being for no reason. The staff were excellent! We were there in May 2025 for the Boardwalk Rock Fest. Flight into BWI was delayed, booked rental car company closed, time to get a car from another company, drive 2.5 hours to Ocean City, and didn't get to the hotel until almost 4am. And the front office was closed. Miserable at this point, thankfully there was an emergency phone number on the door. A woman answered quickly, I explained we had reservations and were 3.5 hours late, she confirmed which hotel and said she'd call someone. She called back a minute or two later and said someone was coming, and while still on the phone, a young gentleman was already unlocking the door. For 4am, one might expect a grumpy employee. But he was friendly and cheerful and got us checked in and on our way to our room quickly. We were on the third floor overlooking the back. Walked into our room to inspect and we were very pleased with how clean/spotless it was. Looked like it had been recently painted, also. The room was very clean, we even lifted the mattress to check for bugs or anything and the bed frame and floor underneath was completely clean. Even after walking around in white socks, they were still clean, showing how clean the floor was. We stayed 3 nights, loved that it had a refrigerator and microwave to keep drinks and leftover boardwalk pizza chilled and then heated. Yes, it's an older, beach motel, so it's not fancy. But clean and comfortable and it was a great location for the Rock Fest (reasonable walking distance).

At $302 per night + $10 for parking, that is 3 - 4 times what I'd expect to pay for such a hotel. But, supply & demand for the Boardwalk Rock Fest, it is what it is. All hotels had ridiculous rates.

I liked the fact it was close to the parking lot where I could see my car from the room. Convenient location from the beach. Also like the fact that there was a shower outside to rinse off the sand after coming back from the beach.

1. I didn't like the base they have for the bed. It was loose and made the bed move. 2. The shower head looked like it needed to be cleaned.

How relaxing the room was and how nice the staff was and price for room was great

The pool had sand at bottom and the building was Disgusting inside the hallways had water on the floor and pool changing room was dirty i guess u cant judge the book by its cover but rooms was clean i would definitely go back just need upgrade the outside and understand why we had to pay for parking and tv kept going in and out yall need to get cable instead of Satellite dish we had so many ants on rhe table the next morning.

It was pretty clean and near the beach!

The room had a chlorine scent but you get used to it, the rooms are not soundproof and you can hear what’s happening in the hallway and the air conditioner is very very loud. The wifi is also not good and the TV didn’t work

Location and easy to get the bus! Room was roomy and clean. Always had hot water for shower! Pool was relaxing.

Only complaint was the young people yelling in the parking lot all night. But not the hotel fault. Only happened one night!

The place was clean, the area was accessible, there were bus stops close by as well as the boardwalk. I loved my stay

The night stands could use a lamp for night reading but other than that it was fantastic.

Spacious rooms, close parking, adequate pool, tub/shower combo, plenty of shelves for clothing, shoes, etc and also 3 large mirrors.

I didn’t like that housekeeping didn’t at least drop off fresh towels & empty the trash daily (or even every other day). Fresh towels are a must for a beach vacation!

Wish the room had lamps or lights, had one old light on wall with one dim bulb in it. Not enough light to get dressed in. The maids ignored the sign on door to make room up the whole stay. They never came.

Fresh towels every day at least would have been nice. Other than that it was good.

That we had to pay for on-site parking. I feel like that should have been included with your hotel and shouldn't have to pay extra. Bed was a little rickety.

Everything was nice. The room was updated, the bed was comfy. My fridge had a full size freezer and the tv had real cable not just a few channels! Not sure why so many neg reviews we stayed bike week and it’s was wonderful! The little seats outside made it so we could watch the bikes and enjoy our food! Will be back next year same time price was amazing for it to be a big weekend!
