The location of the La Quinta was the best. The Santa Cruz Boardwalk (though closed for the season except for the Arcade) is a very short walk away. Having spent our teens surfing STEAMERS LANE in Santa Cruz, it was perfect for us to be near walking distance of the Lighthouse (now the Surfing Museum open Thursday-Monday 12-4 pm) to view the surfing history. We also enjoyed the free Monterey Sanctuary Exploration Center, down the street from the La Quinta. It's free and has something for every age group. The wharf is a short walk away and great coffee (brewed in Santa Cruz) can be had at the Ideal Bar and Grill that is located in a spot before you embark on your wharf walk. The breakfast at La Quinta is your usual fare of breakfasts that you find...but we found granola, bananas, eggs, et al, that satisfied our breakfast needs.

Parking in their underground facility is $25/day, so be prepared. I knew it when I booked our room.

Jose at the front desk was super friendly and made me feel like a VIP as soon as I got there. The hotel is relatively newly built. It's very clean, nice and modern compared to a lot of hotels in Santa Cruz. The pool and gym were nice even though I didn't use them. The breakfast was nice and included scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, fresh waffles, yogurt, juice and other items. The location is great. It's walking distance from the beach and the boardwalk entertainment area.

The only thing was that there were these two flashing lights on the ceiling of our room that were flashing all night and made it a little hard to sleep. I think they were for the fire detector or something but it seemed like maybe a motion detector. I'm not sure.

The facility is immaculately clean. Staff is very friendly and extremely accommodating. I only stay here when I come to Santa Cruz. Love their secure gated underground parking lot. It's close to the wharf, the boardwalk, and has easy bus and Uber access. Room has a Keurig coffee maker, microwave and mini fridge. Breakfast is free every morning, and the staff keeps it replenished and fully stocked. There is a very large attractive lounge area with a TV, fireplace, tables and comfy chairs. Perfect for relaxing or working. I will never stay anywhere else...

The shower head in the shower was stuck on a low spray setting that wouldn't adjust, so it was not easy to rinse the shampoo out. I informed the front desk when I checked out, and they said they would report it to housekeeping to be replaced.

The property was clean and updated. It was also within short walking distance of both the pier and the boardwalk.

•The parking fee should have been included in the stay fee. •The view wasn’t all that great. We booked the ocean view room but you barely could see it over the rooftops of the buildings in front. Also, the balcony view is awkward and there is a pillar? that cuts into the view. •The room was very narrow. •WiFi was terrible. •Staff was not very personable. They were friendly, but just didn’t engage with us.

The room was spacious and we loved the mural/full-wall art in it! It was so awesome only being a 3 minute walk to the beach and wharf. The staff was super accommodating, the heated pool was awesome at night, and it was so nice to have a safe, well-pit parking garage where there was enough room to actually both get my car parked and get my belongings out of the trunk! The beds were also super comfy!

The only thing we thought could use improving was perhaps more drawers in the room so we could unpack out of our suitcases.

Scent was nice, beds were ok, access was easy. On site parking is helpful. Secured property which is good for the location. Breakfast included.

Didn't have a hot tub, just a small pool. Paid extra for an ocean view and it wasn't an ocean view. Buildings were blocking the view. Charged extra for parking. Breakfast was so-so and unattended. No bathtub in room. Rooms were not sound proof. Housekeeping came into the room when there was clearly a do not disturb sign on the door and we had indicated that we weren't checking out until later. Not cool.

The room was clean and the bed and pillows very comfortable. The full breakfast included is always nice and they had a great selection of items. Walking distance to the boardwalk is a plus as well.

When I made my reservation, it stated free parking. When we arrived we were told there is a "new" parking fee. I explained to the front desk that I was not notified of this new fee and felt like we should not be charged. When I returned home I saw that there was additional charges on my card for the parking.

We liked how the hotel was walking distance from the main Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk attraction. It was nice to have a gated garage for our vehicle. The staff was very polite. Finally, we liked the convenience of the free breakfast.

The walls were paper thin. We can literally hear the neighbor snoring next door. In addition, being on the first floor was challenging since we can hear every footstep above us. The guests above us weren't stomping or running around. They were simply just walking. Finally, the view from our first floor was a brick wall. We left the curtains closed the whole time so we depended on the artificial light the entire time.

The hotel was super modern and located extremely close to the wharf. Nonetheless, it was calm. The on-site parking was extremely useful in a town with little on-street parking.

The swimming pool is really a glorified bathtub. There is a 7-person limit, which seems like about 6 too many when there are unruly kids whose parents aren't paying attention to the them. I don't want to sound like I don't like kids. Some of the kids in the pool were great, but the ones running and jumping onto mini surf boards were endangering themselves and others. Neither the parents nor the hotel intervened.

Suite with partial ocean view was above expected, the bathroom is very large and roomy. Balcony with ocean view. Double television was a pleasant surprise. I was considering a late check out, and didn't even have to go by the front desk to be accommodated - as they send an inquiry by text the morning of. Enclosed parking provided, peace of mind knowing my vehicle was safe! On site parking does cost extra.* Breakfast is a hot/cold menu of items, is very fresh. A++ on the breakfast, very pleased.

I did use their fitness center, it's very small and consists of mostly cardio equipment. Still was pleased I had the ability to stay on top of my routine.
