The location to everything was great. This included a short walk to the 'Canal' as well as restaurant , shops and the train station. The rooms were well appointed Breakfast was OK.

Only one complaint and it sort of ruined all the good work of the other staff members. I wanted to store my luggage after check-out and that included my camera gear. I want it stored in the luggage room, however a staff member would not allow this and insisted it be left in the foyer. The foyer and the reception desk are often unmanned and this leaves any luggage in the foyer open for opportunists. Maybe you think I'm being alarmist but my photography gear is top-of-the line. I had to carry my gear with me for the last 2 hours around town and that was cumbersome! I looked/checked in the storeroom and there was adequate space for our luggage to be stored in there! So disappointing!

The breakfast buffet was lovely - loved the churros with the warm chocolate sauce. Location was great, walking distance to most attractions in Otaru. I especially liked the lounge in the evening with the "performance" by a hundred-year-old music box - a most moving experience.

The lack of parking space is inconvenient. The few spaces in front of the hotel are almost always taken, the next nearest parking lot is also often full, and the available one is some distance away. Not a dealbreaker, just something to take note of.

The bed is incredibly comfortable; I don't want to get off it at all! The water pressure in the bathroom is impressive, allowing for a delightful shower experience similar to a spa treatment. The hotel staff is friendly, and the location is conveniently close to the Otaru Canal. The hotel has been converted from a historical building, so you can enjoy modern amenities while appreciating the charm of its original structure.

The room is small, typical of a standard Japanese hotel.

I booked the triple room for 2A2C and the 3 single beds were adequate for us to sleep plus we had a comfortable sitting area with table to snack. The room had ample space to open up both our large luggage. Location wise, no complaints as we could walk to both Sakaimachi St and the canal.

As the hotel was situated in a conservation building, some rooms were located in a different wing and as such my parents’ room were located in a different wing. Parking was also limited. There were only 6 lots in front of the hotel and the paid parking next door is often full by night time.

Good general hotel, rooms not large but seems in line with Japanese standard sizes. Easy to walk to tourist end of town, good base if you wish to use it to ski surrounding mountains at an affordable price. Lots of restaurants within easy walking distance.

Strange experience in the dining room in the evening, they wind up a large music box at a specific time and have a small, makeshift bar but no real selection of drinks. Breakfast OK but would probably prefer Lawsons :-)

The OMO5 is in a great position to access the canal, the main tourist shopping precinct, and the many restaurants and bars. It’s also well positioned close to bus stops to get to the ski areas. The dining area in the old part of the building is particularly beautiful. Then there was the food, which was equally well presented. Breakfast was a buffet, with mostly Japanese fare, which was nice to see. Breakfast was very impressive Our dinner was exquisite. It started with Japanese/Spanish fusion tapas, then pork with accompaniments, then paella, then a buffet of various dessert treats which were definitely worth finding the room for. Dinner also included nice wine, champagne and non-alcoholic beverages. Our twin room was quite nice and spacious. The shower was magnificent, and rather than being a bolt-on ugly pre-fab bathr

Like many Japanese hotels, there were zero hooks in the room (not even to hang a towel), no shelves and 4 coat hangers in a large hanging space. We made a right old mess of the room in no time!

I stayed there mainly because the bus to the ski resort stopped right in front. So for the convenience, it was perfect. I loved that the toilet and the shower were separate. The bathroom was spacious. Restaurants, konbini and the Otaru Station was minutes away by foot (altho it might be slightly challenging to walk from the station with snow and luggage). Coin laundry on site was a sure plus.

I can't think of any at the moment.

I booked this hotel just to have a nice place to sleep after long day snowboarding in the nearby ski resorts. The hotel was great. Location is 10 minute walk from the main train station and bus station. This is exactly what I needed. There is a nearby family Mart, we can get a little bit crowded at night when everybody is hoarding the place to snack something at night.

Location is good, short walk to the canal but a little further to the JR station although still walkable. The staff was very friendly, helpful and welcoming. The hotel room was very comfortable, spacious room and bathroom, comfortable bed.

The fridge and cupboards surrounding the fridge smelled a little, but we didn't really use the drawers or fridge so it didn't bother us too much.

Its position in Otaru, the building mixing old & new, the friendly staff, having the drying room for our snow gear, the dining area, the variety at breakfast.

Our room was in the old part of the building which was lovely but the room was very dark even with all the lights on.
