helpful staff on arrival when I requested a different room room was beautifully furnished including speciality tea ! Very comfortable bed
First room offered was across an open courtyard not ideal in poor weatherUnfortunately alternative room in main building was on the ground floor at front of hotel on Main Street I had to keep blinds down fully ,as pedestrians outside were close to window ,not good for privacy, room was very dark .not good Breakfast choices for continental very limited only choice of 2 cereals, mini croissants only marmalade ,as I don’t t eat a cooked breakfast this was a poor selection .

I really enjoyed my stay here. The whole place had a warm, tasteful feel — both the rooms and the shared spaces. Cosy, comfortable, and clearly done with care. Nothing bland or generic. We were upgraded to a junior suite, which was a lovely surprise. The room was clean, spacious, had a great bed and a good bathroom. Everything worked, everything felt solid. You could tell they paid attention to detail. The reception was welcoming and friendly. The hotel is in a perfect spot — right in the heart of Canterbury — and still very affordable, which honestly makes it feel like a bit of a hidden gem. Just a very pleasant, characterful place to stay. I’d happily come back.

excellent location attractive room, pleasantly decorated and modern. Exceptional bathroom fittings white suites with bath and remarkably powerful shower over. Good bar with happy hour on cocktails professional bar person (although there is a Wetherspoons within 1 minute walk). Nice sitting rooms - lots of bars and restaurants nearby We had two rooms with a private outside area each with a 4 person table which was an unexpected bonus but not all rooms are likewise however there is also a large outside communal area for your drinks Cathedral is just a slow 15 minute or so walk in a pedestrian street; We found car park was safe (£12.50 per day) Good breakfasts cooked and continental if you prefer lots of help yourself toast and preserves
not that we minded there are no evening meals here and a very slight nag is the two for one cocktails in the happy hour (6 to 7 pm) which is good value but limited to only part of the cocktails on the list - you cant seem to buy two different cocktails in the price. seemed a little over complicated but dont let it bother you.

We have stayed at the Falstaff several times now. It is ideally situated right in the heart of the City which means once you have arrived you can easily explore everything on foot and nip back to the room during the day if you want to. Our room was spacious and comfortable with lots of plug sockets, mirrors and comfy seating. The bathroom was good. The hotel now charges for parking which we prefer as it means we are almost certain to get a space.
This is not a negative but might be helpful for other travellers. Several of the rooms are in an annex so be mindful you might need to pack an umbrella in your case if rain is forecast in order to get to the restaurant and bar.

The hotel is in an excellent location with parking available at an affordable rate. The building is delightfully old but with fully modern conveniences. It has a courtyard outside seating area and a great cocktail bar with a happy hour discount two for one for guests after 6.00pm ! The staff were all very friendly and the whole hotel has a nice vibe to it. This hotel does not offer evening meals but with so many eateries local to the hotel to choose from Canterbury will not leave you disappointed. Breakfast however was delicious and plenty of choice.
There was not really anything that I could say I didn't like about the hotel but be prepared for the noisy neighbours :) There is a very lively Witherspoon's next door and the hotel does not have air con so if you want an early night and its hot, you may have to choose between a hot night or the chattering of happy people....

The location was fantastic, the hotel had lots of character unlike a lot of the clinical soul-less hotels so it actually felt like you were staying somewhere different and special. Our room was 'roomy' and spotlessly clean. The staff were fantastic, really friendly and very helpful, nothing was too much trouble. I would definitely stay there again. It is also especially good if like us you are travelling by train or without a car.. Only a 3 minute walk from the station and less then 5 minute walk to the centre with all the shops, restaurants, cathedral etc.

Really lovely authentic hotel in the heart of historic Canterbury. Comfortable room, with modern fittings. Clean and pleasant. Staff friendly and attentive. Cooked breakfast really good, with various hot choices.
Only filter coffee available, I'm used to americano or espresso these days. I asked and was told the machine was locked away.... Go figure. Limited continental breakfast. No cheeses or ham, limited cereal selection and a plain granola but without the usual jars of seeds, raisins etc you would usually find. Chocolate croissant not great. Don't want to be too negative here, overall it was good, but some little extras would make a difference. No restaurant in the evening (I remember it being really good when I stayed here 15 years ago).

Copper bath was amazing in the bedroom. Loved the attick room - felt like a real escape for us which was expectly what we hoped. The decor was fab. Great attention to detail in the room, but also the hotel too. Delicious breakfast - we wish there were other meals! Staff were lovely - thank you. The gentleman at breakfast was so friendly.
The bed - it was two singles together with one sheet and when both of us were lay on one each it sort of felt like two singles rather than the double that we expected. Not as easy to move comfortably in the night as could feel the gap. We only stayed the one night but would have mentioned it if we were to have stayed more than one. Perhaps a good topper could solve this??

I want to mention specifically Jodie on Reception for her patience and courtesy in providing us with a room that met our needs, particularly as we tried three rooms before finding the right one (in the Wood something annex - the building that is not adjacent to any road). Our room was very quiet. The carpark is a problem without resolution. We walked round Canterbury one day and the car stayed put. We went touring on another and couldn’t get back in. Everywhere seemed full and it took half an hour to find a parking spot leaving the car well away from the hotel.

Right in middle of town centre. Lots of history. I had the suite upstairs. Lovely divine cast iron bath in room. You can bath whilst watching tv. The shower is phenomenal like a power shower so strong pressure. Lovely comfy sleep Breakfast was lovely with very attentive breakfast staff. The eggs Benedict was nicely cooked
I would like if they did evening food. It’s a little noisy people shouting in street but of course that is not a fault of the hotel that is just because of location. Ear plugs are a good idea I used mine and no problem. There was also a noise of a machine which was pretty constant. Not sure what it was some sort of generator. It didn’t bother me because I wear earplugs for sleeping. None of this stuff will be a problem if you have ear plugs and I guarantee that you will have a lovely cosy stay
