Loved my stay here. I was here for 11 nights and it felt like home at the end. The staff were so friendly, helpful and attentive. The first room I was given was noisy, so they moved me to one at the front of the building - I really appreciated this since I was there for a long stay. The Japanese restaurant is fabulous. I ate there several times, It's a little pricey by Colombo standards but great food and service.

There was nothing to dislike apart from the noisy room I started in. It was near the restaurant so lots of clattering of plates etc. Be sure to ask for a quiet room.

The hotel with its Japanese interior design and the rooftop restaurant is very chic and stylish and a real oasis in all the chaos of Colombo. We stayed here for 2 nights and were happy to have such a peaceful and beautiful place to recover from the stress of our long journey to Sri Lanka. The staff was very friendly and super helpful in arranging transportation and the breakfast and dinner were delicious. We also liked the fact that the hotel is located in a quiet and very safe part of town. It is an upscale neighborhood where also some of the embassies are located. We would stay here another time, even though it is quite expensive (for local standards).

Sometimes they organize evening events in the restaurant downstairs. Unfortunately, the noise level was a bit high and we could hear the guests talking downstairs. The soundproofing of the huge room doors is not the best.

The whole hotel has a unique and peaceful feel and the staff are so helpful. The front desk manager (sorry i forgot his name) always offered assistance anytime I had a question, including when I requested a later check out he offered an extra hour without any issues. Very conscious and polite staff all around the hotel and restaurant more than happy to help. I came especially because I knew the Zen restaurant, which has excellent sushi and they didn't disappoint this time either! Thank you for a lovely stay, I wish I could have stayed for longer, but will definitely be back for the food at least!!

We stayed at this lovely boutique hotel in Colombo for our first night and were genuinely impressed. From the moment we arrived, the staff were incredibly friendly and couldn’t do enough to help, making us feel very welcome. We had booked two rooms – a twin and a suite. Both were of a very high standard, with the suite being exceptionally spacious and beautifully appointed. The hotel has more of a colonial charm than a large corporate feel, which added to its unique character. The restaurant served good food, both for lunch and breakfast, though service was a little slow on both occasions. While the hotel isn’t located right in the city centre, Uber rides were inexpensive and quick, so getting around wasn’t an issue. One downside was the airport pickup. Although we provided our flight details in advance, there was no driver waiting when we arrived after a long journey as agreed. We had to contact the hotel, and they arranged a vehicle, but we ended up waiting around 45 minutes. The vehicle that arrived was just a large van taxi, and since it was arranged through the hotel, it cost twice as much as if we’d booked it ourselves. My advice would be just to grab an Uber from the airport. The hotel itself was really lovely, and we would definitely recommend it to others looking for a more personal and charming place to stay in Colombo.

We were only in Columbo for one night at the end of our 2 week trip to Sri Lanka but wished we could have stayed here longer. We booked a suite and a double room, both of which were furnished to a very high standard. We generally like to go out and discover different restaurants but due to time we had lunch in the hotel which was Thai and Japanese. The food was so good that we had dinner there too! There are restaurants on the ground floor and also the rooftop which was lovely at night to eat under the stars. Great cocktails too.

We had a very good stay at Zylan for our last night in Sri Lanka (note: it is 40 mins away from CMB airport). Zylan impressed us straight away for its beautiful design. The room was comfy and spacious with a nice bathroom, too. We also liked the location in a nice leafy and quiet street near the centre. We loved the roof top sushi bar, although the sushi itself was "ok". The hotel staff was very kind to get our breakfast ready at 7am as we were short on time. Thank you!

Some little details in the room could be freshened up like the air fan which was very noisy.

Good location and beautiful design of the building. The Zen restaurant was great option to enjoy Japanese food right at the hotel. Food was great and we highly recommend trying it out. Room was good size with spacious balcony. Shower was well equipped. As it is a boutique hotel there are just several rooms and private atmosphere. Staff were friendly. Overall cleanness gas good, but floor in our upgraded room needs a good wet cleaning.

As the restaurant is downstairs there is a bit sounds what comes to the room from downstairs, but it is only during restaurant opening hours and quiet after 11 pm. We booked hotel for 3 nights and were offered free upgrade to a larger room, what we happily accepted. No one mentioned that the downgrade was waiting for us for the last night 😆 Got a call from receptionist at 8am that the room we stayed in was booked and we needed to pack and move back to our first room until 10 am. Also found the bed madras in our first room much better than in the room we were upgraded to. Would be perfect to see some improvements so we could enjoy it more next time.

Staying here was like a little zen oasis from the bustling city around it. The hotel is clean, calm and well appointed. The food was delicious and the room felt l like a big early 1900s Spanish apartment. Special shout out to Rashdeen at the front desk tho really went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable and happy with my stay. This young man helped me sort out my laundry on one of the biggest holidays of the year in Sri Lanka, and he saw it through even on his day off. I expect that he will be managing fine hotels like Zylan in the future. He really saved me a lot of trouble, and I did not expect this from him, or any staff in general. Next time I’m in Colombo I will definately come back mostly due to the excellent service from the staff.

As a female solo traveler, my experience at Zylan Boutique Hotel in Colombo was nothing short of exceptional. The room boasted great water pressure in the shower, and the bathroom amenities – including a dental kit and shower gel – were thoughtfully provided, which I greatly appreciated as I was traveling with hand luggage only. Breakfast at Zylan was a delight. The à la carte menu offered a variety of classic options, allowing me to choose from freshly prepared eggs, chicken sausage, or pork bacon, accompanied by crispy hash browns, a delightful fruit platter, and an assortment of breads with jams, oats, and cereals. There was certainly something for every palate, and the quality exceeded my expectations. The attentive service at Zylan Boutique Hotel truly stood out. The staff was not only friendly but also highly professional, providing stellar service that is worthy of a five-star rating. Their commitment to guest satisfaction was evident throughout my stay. The hotel is situated in a calm area away from the hustle and bustle, which allowed me to enjoy some peaceful moments after a day of exploring Sri Lanka's vibrant culture. I wholeheartedly recommend Zylan Boutique Hotel to anyone visiting Colombo, particularly for solo travelers. I enjoyed my time so much that I would come back immediately! Zylan was an excellent choice for us. A boutique place, Zen style, and very good value. Staff were helpful and friendly (with the exception referred to below). The room and bathroom were spotless and well-appointed. There was a great rooftop bar and pool. We liked the location, a peaceful neighbourhood close to a couple of embassies. We didn't notice any restaurants nearby but action was only a short tuk-tuk ride away. Decent breakfast. The in-house restaurant is Japanese but we didn't try it.

My only gripe was the response I got when I asked for a recommendation for a nice restaurant closeby which served alcohol. The fellow at reception suggested a place and I asked him if he was sure they served alcohol. He got on the phone and then confirmed they did. Well they did not which was patently obvious when we arrived there. This made me cross and I told him so on our return.
