Amazing location close to the beach and the Funkzone. I am fortunate enough to have stayed in a lot of 5* hotels and I think the room in this one is the best I have ever stayed in. The little touches like a little poem or words of wisdom left in the room at turn down, just make it feel that much more special. Really friendly and helpful staff, not too formal (which I prefer). We really couldn't have asked for more. We would never stay anywhere else in Santa Barbara. We stayed several places from San Francisco to LA and agreed this is the place we wish we had spent more time. Excellent, treat yourself to a stay at the Californian, you really won't regret it.

The hotel is spread across three blocks so lacks a little in convenience, but more than makes up for it in other areas. It is expensive but did not feel like poor value. The pool bar was closed when we were there because it wasn't particularly warm.

Perfect location. Right in the heart of SB. So we could walk everywhere. Great for the beach, shopping, restaurants and looking around. Loved the pool area on the roof. Really lovely. The room was very big and beds very comfortable.

It’s a bit annoying having the pool opposite the street from the main hotel but it was lovely. The pool staff seemed to throw away our hoodies that were in a plastic bag. The reception staff weren’t very helpful in trying to locate them so that’s a bit of a shame.

As hoteliers/restaurateurs, we have a different and sometimes stricter perspective than others. I can only congratulate the hotelier here. We had room 320 and were completely satisfied. What a great room and the service was always unobtrusively nice and courteous. We have traveled halfway around the world but rarely have we stayed in such a great hotel. Congratulations! As there was not a hair in the soup to be found, we can wholeheartedly give a full score here...🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼

My stay at the Hotel Californian was excellent. The hotel is right in the center of Santa Barbara, so it's easy to go shopping or see the sights. The hotel looks really nice, with a mix of old and new styles. My room was very clean, cozy, and had everything I needed. Every little detail made me feel special and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. They always made sure I was okay and helped me with anything I needed. They were very kind and made me feel welcome. In short, my stay at Hotel Californian was a great experience. I recommend it to everyone visiting Santa Barbara.

The room is beautifully appointed and the hotel is located in the best possible location.

The cups in the room were not washed when the room was cleaned. The so called restaurant was short on 4 dishes and had a limited menu. For such a beautiful hotel there should be a fine dining restaurant.

Location is excellent, near the beach and a number of great restaurants nearby. Room service food was the best I've ever had! The rooftop pool and hottub were amazing. We spent most of our time there and loved every minute of it! Our room was spacious and very quiet.

Our room had minor damage on the furniture and cabinets, like a dog had chewed on things and they hadn't been fixed. The beds were too soft for our taste, but that seems to be a luxury thing in most hotels. The hotel is REALLY expensive and there is no option for parking except valet which was more $ than advertised.

Great location with hotel spread across three buildings at the end of state street and near Stearn’s pier - location is good and just one block from the water

Honestly overpriced for what we paid along the PCH - unsure if that is time of year or just Santa Barbara

No storage to put clothes away in room and we really did not like the restaurant Blackbird - very little choice, no child friendly options and super expensive for the quality

loved the Californian - honestly came from Santa Monica to Santa Barbara it was like a breath of fresh air !! chalk and cheese - anyway great hotel - good food nearby - great everything ! will come again !

Sad but true - the windows in my room were overdue a clean ! But do not let that out you off !!
