Excellent, lovely big Shower very clean nice comfortable bed and no complaints. Food was excellent. Would recommend it to anyone.

Stairs were very narrow that was the only problem as being disabled. I struggled a bit going up and down the stairs at what time watched every step that’s the only complaint I have but then it is an old building and that’s what you expect. I suppose you can’t really change that that muchbut they were very good there. They took my luggage up down the stairs and parcel. I was carrying in they carried up for me so can’t complain at all.

The welcome and help from staff was really good, and I felt warm and comfortable in my room. The location was quiet at the back of the building, with a nice view. The front of the building was on a busy road, but I didn't hear it from my room. It was an easy, 30 minute walk into Durham, or there were regular buses from right outside. Tea, coffee and biscuits were provided, as well as a hairdryer.

On this occasion the wifi wasn't working, which was a nuisance for me, although I imagine that was temporary. I also found the bathroom rather cramped, although it was clean and everything worked.

The staff were friendly and helpful. I loved that the bar was open and available for us to sit in, even with a small toddler. The room was comfy and clean. We tripped in and out of Durham several times during the course of our stay using the bus which was convenient. Be mindful though that busses stop running early on a Sunday evening from Durham so make sure to look out for the last one. We ended up cabbing which was fine but I was surprised by the lack of bus services at this time on such a busy route. Make sure to take food with you back to the stay if you need it as there is not really anything available in close proximity to the village. It was quiet and local bar attendees friendly. Would definitely recommend if staying for a few days. Thanks

We had such a lovely friendly warm welcome from staff. Our room was very clean and comfortable with fresh clean towels provided.

I don't think there was anything to dislike. The pub itself was so nice and is located in a beautiful village which is a lovely Riverside walk away into Durham. The staff were friendly and helpful and the room was lovely and clean. The only things I would recommend to the new owners going forward is to remove the shelf under the mirror in the ensuite as it stands out almost as much as the basin therefore it is really difficult to wash in the basin and I would put in a towel hanger in the bathroom.

Booked The Seven Stars last minute after a super long drive on my own, and was really happy with it! Arrived in the evening to really friendly staff, and a clean room with all the amenities you may need. Then proceeded to have a delicious dinner and a couple of beers! Bed was really comfy, and I slept like a log! Would definitely stay here again when I'm in the area. (Might not be suitable if you don't have a car as it's a little bit out of town). 10/10.

The Manager, Federico, and the rest of the staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is old, very characteristic, let’s say very “British”. The area around the hotel is safe and lovely. We loved sleeping upstairs and having a pub right downstairs where to relax and to have a drink. Very comfortable holiday-solution! Antonella & Paul

We could not unfortunately dine there as the kitchen was temporarily closed. Also we found the sink in the toilet too tiny.

The staff were delightful. Very welcoming. I did self check in and it was very easy! Very quiet, was worried about the bed but slept really well. Lovely having the bar downstairs for a little after work drink!

Spoke to the landlord about some of the comments on here and things I’d noticed. No wifi, lack of hooks etc in the bathroom. He’s aware of it all and is working on changing it so as soon as that’s done it’ll make it even better.

Lovely big room, recently decorated. Quiet. Comfortable bed. Very suitable for visiting friends who live in the village. Self check in worked out fine

No information in the room itself about WiFi (or lack of it) - I just didn’t use for the 1 night - or who to contact if there was a significant issue while I was there. The room itself was very clean and bathroom has been partially updated and was clean, but grouting and seals in shower had a lot of mould. Minimal furniture in the room, adequate but had a very budget-feel

Spacious room. Comfortable bed. Powerful shower. Good location of television. Complimentary Tea and Coffee. Nice pastries and yoghurts for breakfast and very nice food from restaurant. Great location for access to Durham and bus stops a few steps from the hotel on both sides of the road.

Suggestions: a chair to compliment the stool in the room/ somewhere to hang towels rather than place on the rads. A few hooks somewhere. Used the extractor fan in bathroom but it was loud. Had a room on the main road side and the top sash window closest to the bed needs a second window fastener on it which would help shut out road noise. Small things. None of which detracted from a very easy stay. Will be back.

There was a sign at the Seven Stars promising a warm welcome. Throughout our stay the staff delivered that, no question. All of them very pleasant. We will try to book for any future visit to Durham.

It was a pity that on the first night, one dessert was no available, but on the second night the non-availability of 4 main course choices was very disappointing
