We booked our stay last minute as a stopover on the way to Devon. The location was ideal for this. They have a large, free car park. Our welcome on arrival was really warm & friendly. Our room was excellent, spacious, very clean & comfortable, with a great shower. The bar area was very inviting with the woodburner roaring! There was large range of ale, wines & spirits at good prices. We ate in their restaurant & the menu was very varied, with an Oriental twist. I particularly loved the nod to Bowie, with signed pictures & portraits! All the dishes we had were superb & the service good, attentive but not intrusive. Breakfast was also very tasty, particularly the eggs Benedict. I was especially impressed by the "low" price of this establishment, much cheaper than other places we've stayed in previously. I would highly recommend staying here for anyone heading to the West country. Great pub, great food, great staff.

The staff were lovely. As it's summertime, there is a big beer garden at the back which also had a bar in it. There was also light summer food on offer in the garden where they cooked Spanish Tapas and pizza. We had dinner in the formal dining room, which was delicious. We used it as a stop over for Bristol airport and it was only 15 minutes drive away. Very pretty pub. The room was clean and felt very homely. It was also quiet and the bed was comfortable. Thank you to the staff x

Great breakfast. Shower was brilliant. Plentiful parking.

Room was a little noisy from the road but it didn't interrupt our sleep. Overall experience was marred by the evening meal. I don’t know why chefs feel the need to add so much salt to their cooking. The massaman curry used all of the authentic ingredients and would have been fantastic apart from the excessive amount of salt, which was all I could taste half way through the dish. Needless to say, I left the rest. I did tell the young waiter about it and he said he would let the chef know. And that was that, I heard no more. I haven't included this annoyance in my rating because, as a B&B option, this was perfectly OK, which is what I paid for through Booking.com. I chose to eat there because the menu looked great.

Very welcoming staff, homely feel. The room was spacious, very clean and tastefully decorated. The breakfast was delicious and included in the stay. You could choose what you like from the menu and a hot drink, plus a few extra bits like fruit, cereal and juices available to help yourself if you wanted. Handy being over the pub for dinner. Free parking, lots of space available. Accidentally left my phone charger in the room and they were kind enough to organise posting it back to me. The location is nice, check out the river walk at the back of the pub car park. Would definitely stay again if visiting the area.

Nicely apportioned room, plenty of space. Nice selection of tea/coffee and extra milk was provided without question. The bed was comfortable and we had a good shower.

The rate included breakfast which we weren't able to have, but there was no chance to reduce the rate as we booked through booking.com instead of directly with the property. The staff did provide some fruit for us to take with us which was much appreciated. Thank you.

Very friendly and helpful staff. The pub was lovely with different cozy areas. Good breakfast selection and we were given complimentary hot drinks after checkout while killing time before our flight. The bed was comfortable, as were the pillows.

Our room was at the rear of the pub, very hot and unfortunately the fan supplied was feeble, barely blowing out any air. It was quite noisy at times due to having a generator running directly outside the window and being under the flight path. The bathroom could do with attention - broken hook on the back of the door, flaky paint above the door and a dusty extractor fan. Friends met us at the pub in the evening but unfortunately the pub stopped serving drinks just after 9 and closed up at 10.

Staff were all pleasant and welcoming on check in and out. Bed was comfortable, nice touch with tea, coffee and snack/sweet jars in room. Breakfast was fantastic and parking was available.

Veiw of back yard, you could hear the staff conversations on breaks/closing up later in evening. If you like to sleep with window slightly open when warm expect an extra early wake up as we were right under flight path and it was loud. (I personally didn't realise how close it was to Bristol Airport when booking as we were visiting for other reasons, but obviously this could be a positive to some people)

I loved the friendliness of the staff, and the decor of the bar/reastaurant. Nice and airy, and a nice food choice selection. Parking spaces adjacent to the pub, forming part of the village municipal parking, but allocated to the hotel. High ceilinged bedrooms, with the obligatory sloping floor in places from the age of the building, the bathroom could have been a little larger, but that's compromise with the building age.

There isn't anything worthy of criticism, it was all acceptable. My room was within earshot of the kitchen back door, and as it was hot with the door open for ventilation, there was some noise & cooking smell, but that all went as soon as the kitchen shut.

The staff were friendly and helpful The room was big, the bed comfy The bathroom was a good size with a double shower There were complimentary drinks and snacks with tea and coffee making facilities Most importantly there was a hairdryer

The room was too hot for me and it wasn't easy to open a window. There was however a fan which I had beside me.

Breakfast and evening meals all freshly prepared at the premises with good quality ingredients. Excellent chef! There was also a very good and extensive range of beers and wines on offer . The location of the Congressbury Arms was excellent, in the centre of the village but within easy driving distance of locations such as Wells, Cheddar and Weston Super Mare. This property is old but has been tastefully restored to include mod cons in the bedrooms and is run by a young and enthusiastic team. There is adequate parking at the premises.

The staircase to the bedrooms is as you would expect in a building of this age.
