THE VIEW!!!!!!! The photos attached are real, that really is the view from our room. The wonderful hostess Madeline sent table settings to our room and we set up for our dinner on the tiny balcony. You really could not have gotten anything more romantic and more of a stunning view to watch the sun set. The food delivered was very bad snack bar food but that is all there is to get but this did not dampen our experience, as we bought a bottle of wine with us and sat together and watched the sunset. It was so quiet, peaceful and relaxing. The breakfast is very good, the hotel rooms are large and very clean with big pillows on the bed. The pool is also clean and with stunning views. You must stay here for one night. It is 100% worth it. Madeline is a warm and gracious host and she will go out of her way to make your stay as special as she can. If you don't mind windy mountains roads this is a wonderful locations to explore Portugal. You are 45 minutes from the coast and can explore quite a few cities if you don't mind a drive.

You're in the middle of nowhere, with very little to do, it's just mountains and mountains and mountains. The closest restaurants are 45 minutes away down very windy mountain roads (no lunch or evening dinner is served at the hotel). There are only a couple of snack bars in the local town, but no restaurants or bars, so don't expect any night life in Santa Clara. There are no water sports on the lake which seems a shame. We would have loved to have hired a boat and taken a tour around the lake from the water but we couldn't find anywhere to do that.

Fantastic buffet breakfast, hot fresh bread, fresh orange juice, ham, cheese, melon slices all served outside while we took in the view of the lake. Very relaxing. The lady running the place goes above and beyond in trying to make your stay as comfortable as possible.

The overall décor is rather dated and the air conditioning seemed to be working in 'fan-only' mode, despite setting it to cool / 15C. We were too hot at night as a consequence and did not sleep very well. The owner has a little yappy dog which barks at you as soon as you start walking around, which detracts from the relaxed vibe.

We loved the area, we loved the hotel. The owner, Madalena is super. Facilities, bed linen, swimming pool and gardens to a good standard. Breakfast excellent and standards of presentation good. Views stunning. But........ Wished we had taken supplies for suppers!

Restaurant closed due to lack of staff ( residue of Covid-19 problems...staff laid off and haven't returned. ) So there we were, tired from driving and no dinner available. Photos of restaurant and appetising dishes led us to believe restaurant open. We drove to nearest village..Santa Clara a Velha, NO restaurant, then on to Saboia 6 km. One restaurant very nice. Owner delightful but one woman band! Next day drove to Odemira ( 45 mins on somewhat poor road with lovely views and countryside). Supper and then 45 mins to return.

A tranquil retreat to connect with nature away from the touristy areas of Portugal and only a 1.5 hour drive from Algarve. We stayed in a lake view room with a balcony that allowed us to see stunning sunrises and flocks of birds. It was so relaxing to cool off on the balcony at night and in the morning. We thoroughly enjoyed the sunset view from the pool while swimming and/ or laying on a laying chair sipping on a cold beer. The hotel is surrounded by a charming garden where we were allowed to pick fruits from the trees. There is also a convenient and safe lake pool to swim in the pure lake water. We enjoyed the bountiful and delish breakfast on one of the terraces overlooking the lake. This would be an ideal place for writers and those looking to disconnect from daily life stressors and disruptions. Madelyn was a friendly, welcoming, responsive and accommodating host .

The restaurant was not open at the time of our visit. The air conditioner did not work at times but Madalena was quick to remedy this once we notified her.

The owner was so welcoming, I've stayed at alot of places and this was by far one of my favorite experiences, an upgrade on arrival and late check out without charge ... the lady (I can't remember her name ) was so hospitable and I will be back for sure. Amazing views and amazing walm service .. cannot complain... you must stay here

Madalena and her staff are absolutely wonderful . They were so welcoming and made us feel very special guests . The hotel has an outstanding location with beautiful views and walks . The area is very peaceful and the breakfast was superb. We will definitely stay again . Thank you

When we stayed here many years ago dinner was available. It was really hard to find somewhere to eat out and we hadn’t brought anything with us

I threw away my broken camera and forgot to remove the memory card. I've messaged them to help find it and return it to me. No word back but only left there 5 hours ago.

Staff were so welcoming, hotel was immaculate and decoarated to a high standard and the views were incredible. This hotel is a real hidden gem. The staff gave us bikes to ride around the lake and booked us a local restaurant which was great to eat with the locals. The kids loved the swimming pool and picking our own fruit from the fruit trees was a treat. This was the perfect stop off on our trip from Lisbon to the Algarve. Breakfast was great too with every option you could imagine. The views from the room, restaurant, lounge and bar are stunning and worth visiting even if just for a coffee. We will be back, thank you for a great stay.

It is always very good to go back to a place where I had been before. The place keeps its grace, but needs refurbishment.
