On first sight, our cabin looked adequate for our 2 night stay. It looked like it had been recently had work done to make it fresher and brighter. There appeared to be sufficient bedding and towels, but changed my mind over night.

The weather was freezing at night, the aircon only blew out warm air until about 9 pm then went cold, on both nights. We did wonder if there was a power problem. The electric blankets were the same and it was so cold, the bedding was insufficient and I had to put clothing on , over my pyjamas, to get some warmth. Our cabin was right on the edge of a creek, with rain forest foliage all around so was quite dampish.

Location was great

We arrived early and had a 4 hour wait to get Villa. We visited Strahan and local sites for a couple hours. On return we parked near the big4 site. Unbeknown to us we were looking at our Villa from that park. Our disappointment was that for the nearly two hours that we waited No-one serviced the Villa so it was in fact available well before the allotted return time if 2.30. Whilst reception had our phone number we did not receive a call to confirm a earlier availability. As two elderly travellers we were somewhat frustrated at that.

Our cabin was in a nice leafy corner of the site. The staff were very helpful in extending our stay after we had to make a cancellation due to nearby bushfires. The cabin was well equipped and functional. The induction hob failed but maintenance staff fixed it straight away. Handy for all the activities and restaurants of Strahan. Good laundry.

Nothing really

We were given a free upgrade to one of the new lodges so can't comment on the older ones. The lodge was superb - comfortable, clean and well equipped. The on-site shop was reasonably well stocked to enable us to self cater for our short stay.

The lodge was a long way from the entrance to the site and so although the site was within easy walking distance of the cradle mountain park entrance the distance was doubled by the location of our accommodation. Because I'd hurt my foot prior to arrival that meant using the car to get to the park.

THE PARK MORE THAN EXCEEDED OUR EXPECTATIONS. AS IT WAS OUR 1ST VISIT TO STRAHAN IT WAS A BEAUTIFUL LITLLE TOWN AND WE WILL DEFINITELY BE BACK TO VISIT AND DEFINITELY BOOK AT THE BIG4 AGAIN.

THERE WAS NOTHING THAT WE COULDN'T FIND FAULT WITH. THE ONLY THING WAS THE WEATHER BUT YOU CAN'T WIN WITH MOTHER NATURE :)

location was and convenient. We can't comment on the staff because we were on the road a lot and didn't make contact with anyone.

The bathroom towel rail needs replacing or fixing cause it kept falling off. There's a little leak under the kitchen sink - it wasn't a problem because it's very slow dripping; but certainly needs attention.

We would have preferred a stand alone cabin not a cabin joined by a verandah to two other cabins especially since we had made this booking months ahead. The cabin was clean and functional however the lounge was just terrible to sit on not good for your posture that's for sure. A nice location set in a forest type atmosphere.

The lounge too soft uncomfortable and difficult to get up from. The cabin was joined in a single building to two other cabins.

Location was great - a very short drive to the town centre. The cabin was clean and comfortable, and we could park the car right at the front door. Although we didn’t see any platypus, the platypus stream out the back was cute - we could see the bubbles so we knew they were there!

There was no chopping board in the kitchen for preparing meals, but otherwise the kitchen facilities were great.

The cabin was perfect for a base to explore the region. The bed was comfortable the kitchen well appointed and the bathroom clean.

We felt the gardens at the back of the cabin could have done with a bit of a trim and it looked like the veranda was in need of a bit of attention.

Very clean cottage. We could park directly outside our cottage and that saved us the torture of moving the suitcases. We could cook in the kitchen and got our laundry done for a small fee. Jill at the reception was nice and helpful with our enquiries, board rental and kayak rental. Patrick's IGA and The Ship That Never Was are all a short drive away. Beautiful sunset at the esplanade.

We didn't get to see the platypus! :(
