The experience of staying at Franklin Manor was fabulous. Owners, Chris and Leanne want you to enjoy the Manor as your own, so we did!! Relaxing in one of the guest lounge rooms by the open fire, drinking wonderful Tasmanian wines and cocktails (Chris loves to mix a cocktail), each night was enjoyable and relaxing. They were unobtrusive but also happy to sit with us and chat around the fire, sharing their great plans for the manor in the future. It’s an older home with some not so perfect features (although that’s part of the character) but the hospitality, location, generous breakfast each morning in the dining room and the great wine list made it a memorable stay (+ cocktails + scotch) . It will be even better as Leanne and Chris’ vision unfolds ( they are already making noticeable improvements) and it will be exceptional and really add to the experience when they open the dining room for dinner. Good luck with everything Leanne and Chris and thank you for sharing your beautiful home by the water.
It’s an older home so don’t expect perfect. Look beyond that and you’ll have a fabulous stay. Stairs to upper rooms may be problematic for some people with luggage, although Chris was willing to haul the bags upstairs as needed. There are some ground floor rooms so that may be worth a special request if stairs are an issue. Other than that, do yourself a favour and enjoy the manor experience and warm hospitality that comes with it.

It's a lovely old house with a verandah set in the woods near the main road, but very little traffic noise. Nostalgic artwork and decor. On our first night we managed to sit in the small open lounge near reception with an open fireplace for a few hours. The hotel manager is very helpful and friendly 10/10.
There was a smell from the plumbing - probably due to being an old building. Tight car-parking. The fire in main lounge wasn't lit despite the hotel being booked out and the evening temperature being cool. I think for the price, a welcoming drink would be nice and/or breakfast should be included. Strahan is a beautiful place and the river and surrounds are very special and unique thanks to the Greenies "wake-up" call many years ago - it can feel like visitors are being ripped off with the prices they charge though and all the add-ons.

Our two night stay at Franklin Manor was very good. The staff in particular were excellent, showing great attention to detail. The building is elegant with spacious public rooms and high ceilings. The in-house restaurant (Charlottes) was a lovely surprise. We booked a dinner table at the last minute, not really knowing what to expect. It turned out to offer an eight course tasting menu and everything was of a very 'high end' (French) standard, including the service. For the standard provided the cost was reasonable. A minor niggle was the narrow bath with a rather old fashioned shower over, which didn't detract from our stay.

Heritage house beautifully renovated keeping the old world charm and nostalgia. Well appointed rooms and very comfortable beds. Staff efficient and friendly. We dined in the new restaurant and the food was excellent, good choice of wines on the list and knowledgeable sommelier. We really enjoyed our stay.
The walls are not soundproof and our neighbors had their tv very loud. We knocked on their door at midnight and kindly asked they turn the volume down which they did. I would ask the inn to address this problem as I don’t think people are aware tv volumes in old houses need to be kept low. Perhaps a reminder in the rooms?

This accommodation is set in one of the most fascinating buildings I’ve stayed in. I loved the old charm of the manor, made even more special by the story behind it, which the warm and welcoming hosts shared. The couple managing the hotel were absolutely delightful, making the stay even more memorable. Each room had its own unique character, and the building itself was a true highlight of the trip. The pool table was a fantastic touch, adding to the overall experience. A truly special place to stay!

The breakfasts were lovely and the service was exceptional. The staff were extremely considerate, especially accommodating our later than anticipated arrival. The continental breakfast menu was more than adequate and the option of the delicious berry yogurt was most appreciated. A separate option of a hot quiche and salad was available at a modest additional cost. Everything was promptly delivered and there was great attention to detail. Importantly, the coffees were excellent. There were multiple common areas in which to relax, read or play games. The pewter chess set was particularly impressive. And there were many historical photos and points of information that told the story of the hotel's former grandeur. The location of the hotel was a very convenient walk away from the centre of town. In our room we were quite fascinated by the kettle, a lovely design that didn't drip when pouring. While there was a problem with the TV reception in our room, despite the manager's valiant efforts to fix the issue, it didn't really matter that much to us.

Charm. Beautiful grand old lady home, very well maintained with attention to details. In the heart of town, yet secluded enough for that additional privacy. The host/manager was amazing right off the bat, welcoming and someone that understands how to look after her guests. Went over and beyond what one would normally expects; like spending time explaining the history of the house, or showing us the private cellar to preparing the fire place and organising refreshments. Bravo, well done. Highly recommended

This is a beautiful old building with lots of character. Staff were lovely and even accommodated our dietary requests to the best of their ability.
Would have loved if there was also a dinner option as these are super limited in town.

Everything about our stay was fantastic. The beds were super comfortable, the breakfast was excellent, the bar, sitting rooms and pool room well amazing and well used by us, while the location is great for Strahan as you can walk to the river cruise, railway and waterfall walk activities very easily, but most of all, the staff were fabulous, welcoming and very friendly and helpful.
nothing.
