We arrived later in the evening having already eaten, but having seen the delicious looking food as we walked through to Reception, we were sorry not to have eaten there. The receptionist was friendly and helpful and after we had booked into our room, we had a quick drink in the bar. The room was small but comfortable and our only quibble was that there was a small pane of glass in the door which let in light. Our breakfast was excellent. I am coeliac, but was able to have a full English breakfast cooked with local ingredients. This pub is only about 3 miles from the A1 and we will certainly stay again if we are in the area.

Great location, excellent staff, delicious and great value dinner, lovely breakfast. The chap who served us dinner was great, in fact all the staff were.

The room was spacious and clean BUT it had a tiny window the size of a postbox set very low down, so the room was very dark and rather airless. It was DESPERATE for a velux or a dormer window and were I to return I’d insist on not having that room. A no no. It’s room 3 if it comes your way. Just say no. The bar staff were a little off the pace so unless you were assertive they would bimble about and avoid eye contact, so we stood at the reception desk for a good ten minutes before anyone checked us in ( I had to ask the bar staff to help out ) but they were the only issues. 1. Fix that room. 2. Get on the pace. Otherwise it’s great .

Lovely accommodation, some areas such as the soap holders which needed replacement or focussed cleaning eg corners of shower screen. Very small items but just for feedback.

When we arrived we waited in the reception area and were offered complimentary coffeee or tea which was very nice. However we sat opposite a couple who were eating and the male continued to use profane language , very audibly and rudely, without consideration to other guests like us who were seated close by. He use the f word in nearly every sentence. My issue was that he wasn’t challenged by the staff, several were on reception and they were sitting at a table for two. We were only seated for about 15 mins, we considered eating in the restaurant and this influenced our decision not to. Something to pick up in staff training maybe? This experience won’t stop us returning- I’m giving this more as a means to improve.

We were visiting family near by so the location was perfect! Its a beautiful pub in a beautiful village but also close to Stamford if you wanted to venture further. We stayed in one of the outside rooms which suited us - lovely decor, comfy bed and the choice of a bath or shower so suited us both. There was a choice of breakfasts all beautifully presented (and tasty) and nothing was too much trouble. We joined in the Easter egg hunt and had Sunday lunch in the pub (dogs understandably not allowed in the restaurant) which again was delicious. Our go to place when visiting family in the future!

Nice inside the hotel. Comfortable and warm. Evening meals nice and plentiful. Breakfast nice but no toast and smaller selections. Bed Comfortable and nice shower.

Outside annexe room is nice but on arrival was freezing. No heating and had to wait for radiator to come on and then a while for room to warm up. I have pysiactic arthritis and cold affects me. Evening meal nice and plentiful but breakfast was not up to standard we have had befor. We have been to this hotel about 5 times and no complaints befor. Will use again but probably not when cold.

We stayed in Room 6 which was lovely and clean, very nicely decorated and super quiet so you get a good night's sleep. Parking was right outside the door. Staff were lovely and couldn't do enough for you, restaurant was lovely, food was wonderful. The bar makes really good cocktails. Grounds, gardens and common areas are all beautiful. This is a hotel that tries really hard to make you happy. Recommend wholeheartedly 100%. Five star service and a great location for Burghley House and Stamford.

The location was a little out of the way, which was fine by me. The building is pleasingly old-fashioned, with physical keys and an actual bath in the bathroom. The staff were polite, friendly (without being too matey) and helpful. The food was as good as I’ve tasted, and the unofficial mascot, a semi-resident dog, was delightful.

I can think of only two potential improvements. The room key was a little awkward to position correctly in the lock, and I’d have welcomed a shaving mirror above the sink.

Very welcoming and a beautiful pub, our room was spacious and comfortable, and well equipped with everything we need. Shower was fantastic - always great where you have a shower with good water pressure! Staff were lovely and the food was delicious.

Stairs up the room were a bit low - original plan had been to store a bike in the room which would have been an issue, fortunately it wasn't needed but if you're travelling with a lot of kit the rooms in the old part of the pub are a bit of a squeeze to get to.

Food was excellent, staff very friendly and rooms nicely done We will most likely stay there again next year for the Battle Proms.

It was very hot weather and no air con. but there was a fan in each room which helped a bit. Most likely due to the weather flys were an issue whilst eating and first day at breakfast we asked for some toast but we didn’t get any side plates or butter knives. This was rectified on the second day as they were already on the table.

For us, visiting Burghley House, this property was ideally situated, and very easy to find. The rooms we had were comfortable and we felt secure, despite being in an annex with our door opening straight onto the car park. Very friendly staff who explained everything really well. Very filling, well presented breakfast, quality produce.

Breakfast was available from 8am, but we seemed to catch them ‘on the hop’, they didn’t seem quite ready. Not a great choice of cereals, although the offered yoghurt pots were lovely. It would have been nice to have been offered toast, even though none of us could have eaten much of it!
