The breakfasts were nice , full English , poached eggs made fresh on request. Beds extremely comfy. Great location for sightseeing

Upgraded room , it was large enough but overlooked old roofs , lots pigeons and needed all lights on during day which was disappointing.

Hotel is perfectly located, right in the town centre amongst shops and restaurants and less than a ten minute walk from Carlisle train station. Staff were nice, the building has character and our room was exactly as shown in the photos - spacious, clean and seemed modernised compared to the rest of the hotel (Club room). Bed was really comfortable and very spacious. Bath robes came in really handy too. An ideal stay for a long weekend attending a friend's wedding in the area.

Access to the pool area could be better/made easier to get into, and loungers/chairs for the pool side would've been a great help, as our towels and belongings got soaked due to excess water on the floor which built up from use of the jacuzzi and not draining.

We were in the annex but it wasnt that far from the the reception and main bar and if you have difficulty with stairs theres lifts.The breakfast was really good and you could help yourself to more if you wished.The location is right in the centre of Carlisle so perfect for where we were going.All staff were really polite and friendly

It was a shame the hotel bar closed early as on previous stays we could end our evening relaxing there.If im being ultra picky about our room there was not much room to open the toilet door and get out.Also the shower was a bath combined so if you have mobility issues stepping in and out the bath could be a problem.But the room was clean and adequate

Excellent central location within walking distance of the station. The hotel was lovely and warm in all locations and very clean. All the staff did their best to be helpful. The food was good - both at breakfast and in the bar, where we had dinner on the first night. The main part of the hotel is clearly an old building but I felt it was good that whilst the amenities were modern, the public areas had retained their history, which gave the hotel its charm. The bed was very comfortable and it was lovely to be able to open the window to allow in some air whilst sleeping.

I had a small double room which, whilst comfortable, meant that space was limited and there was nowhere to put my case. I had to work from it on the floor. A collapsible case stand would have been helpful to save me bending and to maximise the floor space..

i booked a superior room via the photo on your site and when arriving at the hotel the room was nowhere like the photo i went to reception and my booking form was shown to the manager of which wires had been crossed between the hotel and yourselves so to me i didnt get the room i booked in the picture the hotel was quite happy to move me to different room or to upgrade to a better room for a extra £15 per nite of which i said no both offers as i was not prepared to pack and start to unpack again i hope this will not happen again when i re book with booking .com as i use them quite a lot and if so they will loose my custom

Location is perfect for graduation at Carlisle cathedral ita right next door. The hotel itself is a beautiful old building, club rooms are clean and decent sized, small doubles are on the small size but still lovely and clean. Beds are comfortable.

Parking may as well be non existent, I understand this was graduation week hence why I was staying there for my own graduation, however having booked 2 rooms so far in advance and travelling 150 miles with my disabled mother on arrival at the hotel to be told the last space in the tiny car park had been taken by the hotel chef!!! I was then instructed to place my mother and all our luggage in the lobby, check in and then move my car to one of the pay and display car parks somewhere else for the duration of our stay costing £11 per 24 hours. Very poor show on accessibility in my opinion there. The window glass in my room was cracked luckily it was warm so no draughts but birds are easily audible from 4am due to old sash windows with no double glazing be warned if you're a light sleeper.

Ideally located in centre of Carlisle. Pleasant and efficient staff. Nice breakfast. Comfortable. Very reasonable bar prices for a city centre hotel. We arrived an hour or so early and looking to leave our bags till check-in. However, without asking we were offered early access to our room. Our particular room didn’t happen to be ready but we were kindly moved to a ‘recently refurbished’ alternative room. This was much appreciated and the receptionist lady was very kind and pleasant in this regard.

Unfortunately no hot water available in the morning so only able to have a (brief!) cold shower. It was explained that had been a hot water maintenance issue and that it was already in process of being fixed. Profuse apologies provided. Absolutely nothing to do with hotel,but the Carlisle main square immediately at front is currently (March 2025) a mad construction site for redevelopment of paving, ornamental walls, etc. Large area fenced off, many workmen and construction equipment, masonry being cut, noise, dust, the works.

I had a 'small double room' booked, and it matched the title. Fine for a single traveller, but the bed would have been uncomfortably small for a couple. The room was clean, and had good tea-making facilities. WiFi was excellent. The breakfast was also very good - nice range of cereals, fruit, bakery, and hot food, and the staff were very helpful. Overall, a very good stay at a very good price, in a convenient central location.

Signs to the rooms were a bit confusing - I ended up looping around the building t find my room. Fortunately I then found the shortcut (not signed from reception, but was signed the other way!)

The pool was great, the food was great and the staff couldn't have been more helpful, it was great that it had its our car park and to be able to park at hotel a rarity in the centre of Carlisle

Our room was a bit tired and dated. We were in a twin that had a double bed and a single, but every time you touched the single bed, it moved and banged into the radiator which was a bit annoying at night, there are road works right outside the front of the hotel ( not the hotels fault ) which woke me up at 6.30, I couldn't blank out the noise because it's a old building so no double glazing but saying that I would go back there and hopefully the work will of finished then

Location is amazing. Lots of local pubs and cafes in walking distance as well as excellent shopping opportunities. Good secure parking. Nice bar in hotel where we played cards. Glad we could open windows in room as was extremely hot on arrival. Loved hearing the cathedral bells every hour during the night (didn’t sleep well but it was an experience).

Consistently played same couple of Christmas songs in hotel the entire time. We stayed after Christmas. Staff asked to turn off by patrons but they said they couldn’t. Plumbing in bathroom has some issues. Showers a bit of a challenge to get hot water.
