Would highly recommend this hotel. Just back from spending 3 night there & the staff were amazing, the couldn't do enough for you. The rooms are spotless & quite roomy, bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious & plenty to choose from, didn't have dinner there but saw others having it & it looked great. We had a drink is the bar which had a great atmosphere, plenty of seating in bar also in the front of hotel & a beautiful garden in the back which would be perfect to relaxing in summer. We we're visiting family in Christchurch which is 12mins away so location was perfect for us. We had an early start on our departure day & they offered to make us a breakfast to take with us, touches like this is what make this place special & shows how they appreciate their guests. We will definitely back.

I loved drinking and eating in this pub 30 years ago when I lived in the area and my return for an overnight stay with my husband did not disappoint. Amanda and her staff are wonderfully friendly, helpful and accommodating. We had been out for a big family celebration lunch and so we only had a light evening snack (cheese and biscuits) with a glass of tawny port recommended by the barman which was all delicious. Our room was spotless, the bed comfortable and after a pretty good night's sleep our breakfast was yummy. Great quality and freshly cooked. We will be back.

Can't really think of anything that I didn't like. Wish we could have stayed longer ... and we probably will next time 🙂

The pub/ hotel was very clean and very well maintained. Food was very good and freshly cooked and the plates were warm. All staff used a teatowel to bring the food to the table. All bar and restaurant staff, especially Sarah, were welcoming and friendly. One waiter even checked the gluten free needs of a customer. Our room was a little small but comfortable and had enough storage space. Best bit was being offered a flask of FRESH milk for our tea and coffee in our room. Will definitely stay again.

Our shower was a little small for us ( room 11,as we are a little larger than most people) and we kept catching the hot shower unit on our skin. Also the base needs a bit of TLC. However it did the job and it's not a complaint just an observation.

Everything was very good ,clean and wonderful helpful staff .Always smiling and friendly .one of the best stays we have enjoyed! Food was excellent and of a high standard. Both Breakfast and everything meals were excellent. Choices were very good and a wide variety catering for many tastes and occasions . Hats off to the kitchen ,staff and overall Welcoming vibe. Will definitely pull in to this station for a stay again. Thank you one ans All .

Nothing but television was not working well. Due to no internet for the Tv and interference with the pictures from an unexplained source.

Hotel was easy enough to find using Satnav. Friendly welcome and easy check in. We were given a thermos flask with fresh milk for teas and coffees (real coffee in a tin with coffee pot) in the room. The twin room was clean and pleasantly decorated. Beds were comfortable and bathroom was clean with plenty of hot water. We had the full English breakfast which was very good but we could have our pick off the breakfast menu which had a good variety of different dishes. The sourdough toast with proper butter was a nice touch. Had a lovely chat with Amanda the manageress who was very friendly and informative. Would happily stay here again and would look to stay at other boutique hotels in the Butcombe Pubs and Inns group.

Our ferry arrived late and although we had booked a table for 8.30pm we did not arrive till just before 9pm. We had phoned ahead but were told we would miss the dinner service. Sadly no offer of a sandwich. However, we asked for a couple of bowls so we could make instant noodles which we had with us and they were provided with no fuss.

Really friendly and helpful staff - particularly the man who booked us in and served us breakfast. Very clean room with all that we needed, including a very comfortable bed, and a lovely smell to the toiletries! Ample car parking. The breakfast was one of the best we have ever had when staying in hotels - superb.

There is a very low level of traffic noise from the nearby dual carriageway - but it wasn't sufficient to disturb the light sleepers in our group. You have to look for the entrance to the hotel car park, particularly at night, as the hotel is set behind the trees. It is worth looking at it on Streetview before you go.

Excellent place to stay for a few nights while visiting family in the local area. Nice country pub that does good value food and rooms. This is the second time I’ve stayed here and enjoyed it both times. The rooms are well thought out and have everything you need. The staff are always brilliant as well, attentive and friendly. The breakfast is definitely a highlight - one of the best quality I’ve had in a long time.

I’ve stayed one two occasions and the only minor thing is that I found the mattresses to be a little uncomfortable in places - they could benefit from a thicker topper I think.

Lovely location, aesthetics inside and out, immaculate room, well equipped, clean. The pub itself is homely, attractive and welcoming and the food, both breakfast and dinner surpassed all expectations. Add to that friendly, helpful staff, and this is a clear winner!

The only gripe, which is a relatively minor one, was a very uncomfortable mattress, which entertained me by allowing me to feel every single spring in great detail, but this is a relatively easy fix. The rest of the pub/ hotel is simply excellent.

I arrived after a very long drive and felt welcomed by the attentive and cheerful staff. The room was perfect, clean, comfortable and with a good shower. I enjoyed a delicious meal with a splendid punt of Butcombe Original, before falling into a refreshing sleep. Breakfast in the morning was excellent, I had the Eggs Royale, with tea, toast and marmalade. The full English looked tempting but I'll save that for another day!

The hotel is a little way back from the road, but there is still a fair bit of tyre noise swishing through the trees if the bedroom window is left open. It didn't disturb me but a more sensitive soul might find it annoying if they had the window open.

I rate hotels by the friendliness of the staff and how they make you feel the only people that matter, this they did seemed happy and looked smart and very efficient. My wife took ill during our stay and all the staff from the manager down could not have been more helpful a credit to their hotel and company.

The attitude of the companies head office who took our booking and then decided to close the hotel on the Monday and Tuesday, they did try and make contact but we were away by then, Due to illness my wife was not fit to move to another hotel and I thank the hotel manager and staff for the attention they gave her during her stay. Please note when you pick a hotel you have reasons for doing so and for a company to decide after taking the booking to change it smacks of Head office knows best and have little care or respect for the customer who would appear to be just a number to them.
