Nicely decorated, spacious, warm, quiet, good selection of drinks, nice staff, great location, good breakfast
Bed wasn't very comfortable - big dip in mattress and very hard. The blue light in the bathroom shone through the glass keeping us awake- couldn't work out how to turn off. Wardrobe fell apart but was quickly fixed.

The staff were lovely, hospitable and welcoming, the room was warm, tastefully decorated, quiet and comfortable. The en suite had a good hot powerful shower and the supplied toiletries were good quality. The breakfast was very tasty and well prepared and the coffee was from a proper barista machine which was lovely.
Not a complaint but the breakfast seemed understaffed and so service was slow and things like juice and yoghurt took a long time to be refilled. The individual member of staff managing breakfast did an admirable job trying to keep on top of things but there were times when he really struggled. One more person on staff would have made a huge difference but it is possible someone did not turn up for work on the day. Anyway, it was Saturday, we weren’t in a hurry and the food when it came was really good quality and tasty so we got over it.

Great Breakfast, in fact the food is generally very good. we have stayed there a few times and even dropped in just for dinner or lunch. Staff are great. The rooms are fantastric, such a great comfortable bed and the Bathrooms are excellent !
Not much really, cant think of any improvements...... The only thing I would like is that some of the seating areas should not be accessible to dog owners.... I dont mind dogs at all - I have one! But I dont like Dogs around me when I'm eating.... But that goes for most properties, not particular to this.....

I had an early start so a continental breakfast was brought to my room. It was very nice - yoghurt, granola, fruit, croissant - and there was a coffee machine, a good tea and coffee selection / fresh milk in the room. The fresh milk in the fridge was very welcome, as was a glass bottle of water. The room was lovely - spacious, with a luxurious feel - nice touches (bright bedside reading lights, full length free standing mirror, good quality bedding), and was an attractive blend of traditional wooden furniture with modern facilities. The bathroom was great - excellent shower, good quality products, a well-lit mirror above the sink. The staff were very friendly and accommodating throughout my short stay. A friend and I had dinner in the restaurant and the food was delicious, including an exceptional fish pie.
The room was heated through a wall mounted air con / heating unit. My room was a little cold despite turning the heating up high - but it was an exceptionally cold night and once in bed, I was very warm and cosy and slept well.

The bedroom was large, comfortable and attractively decorated including a large brass cheval glass and towels shaped into two little bears! The breakfasts were excellent and the service friendly and helpful. There is plenty of parking and the hotel is well-placed for visits to Christchurch and other areas of interest in Dorset. One evening, we booked dinner for 11 people including 4 young children and a private area was made available to us with lots of games and toys. The food was very good although some items were not available.
A few minor points: The air conditioning had a noisy filter so we had to turn it off (not a major problem as the weather was mild). The lighting in the bedroom was either very bright spotlights or rather dim overhead and bedside lights (not bright enough to read by). There was a permanent blue light in the ensuite bathroom, which would have been useful but the bathroom door had glass panels so it illuminated the bedroom as well.

nice hotel, good food, genuine service, perhaps nicer than expected. good room facilities, inc coffee machine, very comfy bed though pillows perhaps past their best. nicely clean, though maybe some mould on outer windows (secondary glazing). some good notes on disabling machines to cut noise. certainly wouldcrecommendca stay here
The room fridge, even in a cupboard, was quite noisy andcI couldnt turn it off as the plug was concealed. bathroom extractor also a bit noisy, butvturns off after 5 mins so not an issue. the Garden View w

Really good food. Very comfy bed. Wide selection of tea and coffee in the room, in addition to complimentary chocolates and a bottle of milk in the fridge. We had our dog with us, there was a brand new dog bowl and toy in the room in addition to a box containing a few treats and poo bags. Nice toiletries. Ironing board & iron. I didn’t find a hairdryer though. A really nice pub, the room was lovely if a little on the small side. A nice countryside location whilst still being close to the town and beach. Very accommodating for those travelling with their dog/s.
On the 2nd night, they had overstretched themselves; a wedding party and a pop up theatre production. We ordered dinner at 6 and ate at 9. That said, we were refunded the cost of dinner and a couple of drinks. The air con unit in the bedroom intermittently made a loud noise all through the night even though it was switched off, so it may have been the unit in the adjoining room.

We had a suite which was lovely/qurky, I especially loved the towels made into bears and sat on our bed and the other little touches added to the room. Everything was lovely and clean. We had dinner in the pub/ restaurant in the evening and being dairy free can sometimes be a challenge to find something nice to eat, let alone be catered for. I had a fab dinner (Pea and mint ravioli), which was lovely and hubby enjoyed his burger which he said was the best he had tasted in a while. The restaurant was quiet (sunday evening) and felt cosy and peaceful. Breakfast was also delicious and very filling 😋 Would happily stay here again x
There was nothing that we didn't like.

Nicely renovated pub with rooms. Our room was beautiful and very spacious and the bath tub a real highlight. A/C is available (which is a real plus for the warmer days) and the selection of teas, coffees, chocolates is really good. Nice touch the complimentary gin tonic available at the bar. Good food both for breakfast and dinner. Good location to explore the area.
Service was a bit average and not really well organized. Considering that this is primarily a pub (with rooms), service should be improved. The waiter who served us at dinner (a young guy with a bit longer hair) was however really friendly and compensated with the rest.

Location good - close enough to office (in centre of Christchurch) but rural with good road links.
Booking - telephone number redirects to central booking system - on two occasions I attempted to call, a) ended up having to leave voicemail (no call back), and b) automated message to say the line wasn't open on weekends! Best to email as this goes direct to pub. If booking via booking.com, and taking dog ensure you email to confirm that a room is available. Site on booking.com suggests that all rooms pet friendly, which isn't the case - you need to confirm.
