We have stayed here many times over the years. The hall is set in stunning grounds with a walled garden and topiary. There are walks around the hall and it’s a short walk to the village and a great pub. The rooms are well appointed for conference and student events with tea and coffee making facilities and basic toiletries. The breakfast offering ranged from the full English buffet which was nicely cooked to cereals toast etc There is a bar with bar meals served in the evening which we have used in the past.

We were surprised to receive an email two days before our stay advising the bar and catering services were not available on the Saturday night due to a function. This we felt was very short notice as the Gates Gala must have been arranged for some time. Our room was in a quiet area and the music stopped around 11pm so we were not too bothered by noise. However had we known there was an event with reduced services we would have stayed elsewhere.

Quite a long walk from nearest bus stops but fine in good weather. Beautiful surroundings with wildlife (bats, herons, etc). Breakfast good , especially veggie sausages Lovely dining room and views outside with tables to sit in good weather. Room was fine - I suggest replacing small bottles of soap and shampoo with wall dispensers which would reduce plastic waste. There did not appear to be any recycling facilities in building.

Breakfast good but as I was there for 6 nights it got boring having exactly the same things every day. I would have liked a better selection of yoghurt. Toasters very slow and bread very boring.

Everything was well organized. The room was large and had all amenities we needed. The buffet breakfast in a charming traditional student dining hall was very nice and perfect for starting the day (traditional english breakfast + croissants/pain au chocolat). The gardens and architecture of the building made our stay a little bit more special. We had a nice dinner in the nearby pub/restaurant "The Three Horseshoes". We recommend visiting Ely Cathedral: stunning building, interesting history & great digital guide. King's College Chapel stands out in Cambridge itself. Take into account that the Fitzwilliam museum is closed on Mondays.

The manor and its grounds are really amazing. Breakfast (full English) was great, the bar is nice. The beds are comfortable, tea and bicuits are for free in the rooms, there was also a flat iron. Parking is nearby. TV in the rooms. Everything's oldish but very clean and well-kept.

The rooms were tiny. The bus&ride (next good busstop) to get into Cambridge is not in walking distance, there were no brochures of the sights on display or timetables for the buses. You need a key chip of your bedroom key to enter the hallway to the bedrooms, which makes it a bit uncomfortable if you only get one key. You cannot just knock at your bedroom door to have your partner let you inside.

Our room was lovely in terms of the wonderful views over the side gardens and topiary. The bed was comfortable and there was tea and coffee facilities. The en-suite bathroom was a bit small but adequate for what we needed. The gardens were delightful. We also enjoyed eating in the restaurant for an evening meal (payed separately) and enjoyed the full breakfast in the amazing dining room.

The TV in the room was very small (more like a computer monitor) The bathroom was quite cramped but manageable.

The grounds and the main building are absolutely stunning. This is one of the most beautiful places I've ever booked with Booking.com. The staff were very welcoming. The main house where reception is is beautiful and the refectory for breakfast was lovely. Good buffet breakfast. Plenty of car parking though it's a bit of a walk from the car park. You could probably drive down to the main entrance to load and unload but we chose to walk as the weather was gorgeous. The grounds are fabulous. The walled garden is exceptional. Don't know how they keep everything looking so good as we never saw a gardener. The view from the main hall down over the lake is stunning. Take a walk round to the croquet lawn to see the topiary. Bed was comfy, pillows were a bit hard for me but I slept ok. Room was basic but well equipped. For the price we paid we really couldn't complain about the room. This included breakfast and was excellent value for money. I doubt you could get a better bargain in the area. A short walk away is The Three Horseshoes pub and restaurant. This had at least two cask ales and a selection of kegs. Very good food if you're looking for something a bit special. However, if you want to save a bit of money you can eat at the bar in Madingley Hall which does sandwiches during the day and hot meals in the evening. These were very good value for money. If you want to get into Cambridge it couldn't be easier. There is a very good Park and Ride a short drive away. Parking is free for up to 18 hours and the bus takes the stress from trying to drive into the city. There were plenty of frequent buses. And the locals are very friendly so you can have a chat and get some local knowledge. There is a small fare for the bus. I think that was £4 return but we went free using our National Bus Pass. We will definitely come back to Madingley Hall.

Bathroom needs updating and one of the sockets wasn't working in the bedroom. This made it unsafe to use the kettle on the very short lead but wasn't a problem for us as we took an extension cable with us so it was safe to use. We reported this on our departure and the receptionist made a note of it for maintenance to look at.

Lovely old building, beautiful grounds all maintained very well. Large room, very clean. Easy access to Cambridge City centre, local pub within a 10 minute walk. Quality of breakfast was quite good. Reasonable choice.

Rooms were quite basic, it was a large accessible room there was no socket near the mirror so using a hairdryer was difficult as you could not see what you were doing. shower was very weak. At breakfast had to wait several minutes for hot food to be replenished. No bacon or sausages. Staff should have been aware and replacing items before they ran out so guests were not having to wait.

We stayed for one night during a family visit to Cambridge and had a lovely experience. The hotel is set in a stunning building with beautiful surrounding gardens, which added a real sense of charm to our stay. It’s in a fantastic location—quiet and scenic, yet just a short drive from our family. Breakfast was excellent, with a generous spread that included good vegetarian options, which we really appreciated. The 11am checkout time was also a nice touch, giving us a more relaxed start to the day. All in all, a very comfortable and enjoyable stay. We’d happily return the next time we’re in Cambridge!

Site and buildings were wonderful, EV Chargers in car park was a helpful bonus. The park is just lovely and the wild flower meadows were just beautiful. So nice next appointment I have at Addenbrookes I will be booking a room again. Breakfast was wonderful but due to medical scans that morning, I was not able to fully indulge.

Food available for people not on courses was frankly abysmal. That is our only complaint. The on suit bathroom was in need of a refresh and the sink hardly drained away at all. However were only there for 1 night so all was acceptable given the price. Save for the bathroom and evening meals available I would be giving it a straight exceptional from top to bottom.

The staff are friendly and helpful. The location is great especially if you want to go into Cambridge. The grounds are stunning and very peaceful. The place can look a bit rundown, but you get to stay in a very beautiful old building. Cleanliness is spot on and the beds are really comfortable. It is also a very quiet place and you can truly relax when there. They provide free parking and breakfast is included and delicious.

In the morning, the tables set up can be off-putting due to potentially having to be face-to-face with people you do not know. If I was travelling with someone else I might feel different about this, but I felt a bit anxious to have breakfast in that scenario, and skipped it one of the days.
