Very friendly and helpful staff! We were always heartily greeted in the beautiful Red Lion and given tips for Lacock. It is a truly unique location to stay in the heart of the charming little town. The place breathes history and the interior choices create an authentic atmosphere. The breakfast is not a buffet but you can choose from a menu à la carte with dishes ranging from traditional English breakfast over toast avocado to granola yoghurt.

The room was charming, but don't expect a modern one, i.e. with a mini-fridge or a high-pressure shower (which is arguably part of the charm of the old hotel and Lacock in general). We stayed in Bath, Lacock, Oxford and London and this was our most expensive stay, we were aware of the "charm above comfort" style but we figured it's important to be aware of this.

The Breakfast was really good with some nice unusual options - The Vegan Pancakes were exceptional and work art. We had diner both eves of our stay and really enjoyed the excellent food. The sharing Brie Cheese, melted with saradough bread was lush and we had a selection of starters on 2nd eve. Good value for money all round, especially as the price for room inc breakfast. Loved our room overlooking the front and especially as we could see the Red Lion sign from our window. Lovely staff. We kept guessing who amongst the famous film and TV cast might have stayed in our Talbot room (N0 4). Hopefully we plan to have a second visit maybe next summer. Oh and lovely wine list - The Picault French was a Favourite and also the home made cakes at brilliant prices. We met Beverly the Domestic Lady who brilliantly looked after the super clean room.

Absolutely nothing to dislike.

What a fabulous village Lacock is, so beautiful and packed with history, so to have accommodation right in the middle of it was just what we were seeking. The staff were so friendly and very attentive, be it when checking in, meal times, leaving or just in passing, a real credit to the organisation. Food (dinner and breakfast) were both amazing and very tasty, highly recommend. Given the crowds flocking to eat here at lunchtime, filling the pub gardens, the meals then must have been of an equally high standard. What a bonus to be able to have free parking too, as once you’re at the property you can explore everywhere by foot.

It’s a bit picky I know, but the decor could do with freshening up, but it’s kind of what you expect in a period property such as this, and certainly did not detract from our stay.

Sorry I hate to write a negative but this was only preference . So this comment is meant as constructive be cause we want to return with friends … but although clean in every way was surprised there were no mattress protectors or pillow protectors … this is something we were surprised about in a hotel . But that does not take away a lovely stay thank you it’s taken long time to this review as running Hospitalty can some times be thankless and I didn’t want to offend .

The location is perfect for visiting Lacock. Our room faced right out into the cute village. I was very happy to find that this was a dog friendly B&B, so that we could bring our little poodles. Our evening meal was delicious! The nicest shin of beef with bourguinon sauce and a delicious chocolate caramel cheesecake! Breakfast served in the restaurant in the morning was 10/10

Although it was mostly clean the mirror in the bathroom was dusty and hadn’t been cleaned. And there were some dusty cobwebs in the bedroom. Only an issue for me as I have a dust allergy and had to go and get some allergy tablets. The TV wouldn’t connect to wifi on our iPhones, so we had to watch Netflix on our phone instead of the tv :(

The town is really nice and the Red Lion is a nice pub with comfy rooms and nice views. Our room was just above the kitchen and the smell of fried food was strong, they should use those couple of rooms poorly located only when the place is full… but many rooms were empty and still we had the inconvenience of the kitchen. The breakfast is cook to order and really good. It will be nice to also have a few cold options in addition, like fresh fruit, as we have seen in other places of the area.

The Red Lion was the perfect location for an overnight stay and visit to Lacock Abbey. Lovely meal in the restaurant last night, and delicious breakfast this morning.

Our room, while the bed was beautifully comfortable with a lovely view of the village, wasn't as clean as it could have been and the bathroom was tired. The bathroom bin hadn't been emptied from the previous occupant, and the bedside lights were dusty with a collection of black fluff around the base.

Very comforable and quiet room, very well appointed. Great range of beers and truly excellent evening meal. Very good staff and great service. I didn't know much about the locality and the films productions made there but lots of info around the pub. Really great parking and easy access. This is a real gem of a find and no doubt I will be going back shortly. My room was absoluty clean and everthing I could need was there. Staff could not have been more helpful and the Wadsworth 6X was just brilliant!!

Nothing it was all excellent

We recently had the pleasure of staying at the Red Lion and it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by the warm and friendly staff who made us all feel right at home. The location of the hotel couldn’t be better – it’s nestled in the heart of Lacock, with easy access to all the attractions. One of the highlights of our stay was the delicious food offered at the hotel’s restaurant. All our meals were excellent, and I especially loved the freshly cooked breakfast made to order. It was the perfect way to start each day of exploration. The rooms were impeccably clean and welcoming, providing a cozy retreat after a day of sightseeing. Overall, my stay at the Red Lion exceeded all expectations, thanks to the amazing staff, fantastic location, and delicious food. I can’t wait to return!

Mattress was a little uncomfortable as we do not have a sprung mattress at home.

Our stay at The Red Lion Inn was such a wonderful experience. The rooms are fantastic, spacious and very comfortable. The decoration was gorgeous and the view over Lacock Village was absolutely stunning. We had all the amenities we could wish for, and it was a pleasure to stay in this beautiful room. The Inn is very lively and quaint, with loads of fun night activities. Breakfast was excellent, and we had dinner one of the nights of our stay and the food was delicious. Highly recommend staying here and will definitely stay here again, hopefully soon! :) If staying here, please set aside time to enjoy the room and have a night in!
