Villefranche-sur-Mer is a very expensive, lovely village. It is rare to find any accommodation there at a reasonable price. La Regence offers a good combination of price and a pleasant room. It is located right in the centre of Villefranche, on the main road (the proper old town by the sea is a short walk away). The entrance is through the bar, a popular place with tables outside. After 20:30, when the bar closes, it is possible to access the hotel part by a side entrance with a code.

The rooms at the front are a bit noisy, but the view is good. The fact that there is nobody in attendance after 20:30 can be worrying.

Kind and very friendly staff, lovely, clean, cozy and spacious rooms. Welcoming atmosphere, and very flexible owners (we arrived far too early and soaking wet, and we were immediately provided with a place to change and dry our clothes until our room was ready). In walking distance to all the important places in Villefranche (restaurants, shops, beach, harbour, work,..). Great place to enjoy a coffee.

Nothing to complain at all. It is a bit noisy in the early evening due to the nearby road, but it was quiet at night. And yes, it's a bit of a walk from the train station, so don't bring too much stuff if you arrive by train.

Charming hotel with real character and flavour. This has a relaxed family run feel, that you are part of the experience. With being a 1 star and budget style, we were open to whatever was in front of us... But honestly, it was such a great stay!! BEd was comfy, room decor was traditional... The bar downstairs wasn't as loud as we thought it would be... 7/8 min pleasurable walk down into Villefranche centre... We got a warm welcome by the staff... Was able to leave our luggage and borrow an umbrella.. If you would rather spend your money adventuring than a hotel holiday... this is THE Spot. Hot tip.... It's a good 15 minute walk to train station - easier down to station than back... We did a day trip to Eze... but got the uber back from Eze straight to hotel.. 16euros... Was worth every penny.

At first, wasn't sure if our luggage felt secure when we left it for the day... but the bar/reception area is "manned" at all times...

Nice location, restaurants a minute away. Big bathroom with waterfall shower. Clean and everything was in good condition. Staff was pleasant, allowed us to leave our bags with them when we arrived early. Lastly, I liked Villefranche Sur Mer better then Nice or Monaco, and they were only 15 minutes away by train.

Very few complaints. I guess the only things id mention were, the two single beds had good mattresses but were literally the narrowest bed I've slept on! And it's a bit of a tricky up hill hike from the train station to the hotel.

The location was superb. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We liked the bar area and had a couple of drinks before bed. The room was comfortable, with a very comfortable bed and linen and was nice and airy with a big window and aircon.

The shower is very small. Lucky there is a hand shower to use as well. Other people staying in the hotel thought it would be very funny coming back at 01h00 in the morning, making a huge noise and stomping very hard up the stairs to wake the entire hotel. This is not the fault of the hotel, just rude guests.

It was a delight to spend three weeks at La Regence. This is a family-run hotel, for the past 50 years run by the same family, three generations now being active within it, Betty, Thierry and Alexis. They are the kindest and most courteous of hosts, a quality echoed in the mood and atmosphere they create in the bar, where the waves of conversation and laughter come like the waves on the shore. The hotel is scrupulously clean, the beds very comfortable, the bathrooms neat and tidy, the shower strong and enveloping. The hotel is close to shops, though from the station to the hotel, with luggage, you will need a taxi up the steep hills of Villefranche and the many flights of steps. Bus services to Nice (west) and Monaco (east) pass the hotel and are fast, frequent and inexpensive. The bus drivers seems always to be trying the break the speed record. Trains are fast and regular.

It might have been a drawback, but it wasn't, that the hotel is on the main road by traffic lights. You get used to it. Across the road is a charming park (markets on Wednesdays and Saturdays), and beyond that is the sea.

Staff were welcoming and friendly. Spoke English as well. The room, for its price, is good. Location is great, just 2min from the bus stop to Nice and walkable everywhere in Villafranche. Toilets were well-maintained. Overall a pleasant stay

Room walls are a little thin and the lighting could be brighter. Was a little dusty but for whats it's worth, it was not a bother.

Everyone who worked at Hotel La Regence was so kind, so caring, and so friendly! We had an amazing time. I loved waking up in the morning and heading down for a cafe au lait with croissants, and having a glass of rose before heading out for dinner. The amenities, room, and bar were all spectacular. Most importantly, the atmosphere was welcoming and so charming.

Don’t be fooled by the 2 stars. Was greeted with a friendly smile and also allowed to check in early, the typically French bar downstairs is wonderful to chill in with a great selection of drinks. Bedrooms slightly on a small side but bathroom was very nice and super clean, could t fault it for the price, walking to the beach is pretty easy and located next to some nice bakery’s.
