This place has a lot of potential. The rooms are huge, comfortable, with beautiful antique funiture and very clean (and there is good waterpressure in the shower!). The location is a bit away from town (although close enough if you take a tuktuk), but there isnt really a need to leave: pool is large and nice to cool off, there are some shady areas to read a book and there is good food. Owner helped arrange my safari. The place is run by him and just two others and they were all very welcoming and sweet!

The outdoor and communal areas need some serious love and care.

We enjoyed our stay at Saman Resort very much. The full day safari arranged by the hotel was outstanding. The staff is attentive and could accommodate all our requests. There is also laundry service available in the hotel that was helpful after the dusty safari. The food of the hotel restaurant was good. The orange juice served was excellent, as well as the cold beer at the poolside. From what we experienced, the hotel is flexible with check in and check out times and the reception is always opened.

The hotel would benefit from refurbishment.

The staff were amazing, nothing was too much trouble. They were very accommodating. Also recommend booking yala safari through them as we got a private jeep and excellent driver (we saw a bear). Breakfast was simple but delicious and they gave us a pack lunch breakfast for the safari. I highly recommend staying here, was such a relaxing place to stay. The pool was great and the outside is bustling with nature too!

Some of the items on the menu was unavailable but I think that was due to it being quite quiet in the hotel.

This is a great hotel, very calm and peaceful with the cleanest pool l've seen in Sri Lanka. Nice big comfortable room with efficient AC. The food in the restaurant is excellent. I had a Sri Lankan chicken curry which was so tasty and delicious. The staff are lovely, very friendly and helpful. Even if you're not staying here it's a great place to come and eat. Although it is a fairly new hotel its decor is old colonial style with period furniture. Prices are very reasonable which is an added bonus.

Nice room! Great smell when entering. Pool was very warm but nice. They organized safari - for 21000 rupees per person - but we had a private jeep. WE SAW A LEOPARD! You must be lucky to see it but our driver also did a lot to manage - he called with other drivers etc. After the safari you can still use the pool, even if you left the room already

Breakfast packed for safari was very basic, but ok.

My favorite hotel in Sri lanka!!! The pool was a perfect way to chill after a big day at the safari. The rooms are big, clean, AC works well, warm water etc. But mostly the staff is exceptionnal! They go out of their way to make you feel welcome and a part of family. They even woke up at 4:30 am as we were leaving for our safari tour to make sure we had everything we needed, so thoughtful. It's a few km from the center BUT they have a restaurant at the hotel, good price and really tasty food. We didnt feel the need to go downtown since they had everything we needed. So I would say it's a perfect place to relax + safari, away from the noise of center of the city. We loved it. Thank you so much to the staff!!

They arrange safari tour for us. it was amazing. driver is best for safari tour. we saw leopard and six elephant. staff was very friendly and they always help for you anything. food was great and we eat there rice and curry that was best. pool area also great and very calm. highly recommend saman resort yala.

Best place to stay in tissa, I extent one more night there. And they help to make me best yala safari experience. Food was really best and fresh. Receptionist sanjani was really friendly and helpful. Pool is clean and i enjoy it lot. It was very big. Room was really big and clean. Highly Recommended this place.

The room was big, had ac, bed was comfortable. Pool was clean, good for swimming. We went to Yala national park in the morning and they let us leave our bags at the reception. After we came back we could still use the pool and bathroom facilities. The staff was really friendly and helpful.

The owners are so happy to help, a lovely young couple. All other staff were amazing too. A great pool to relax in. They will also organise Safari for you. It’s convenient that they have restaurant open till 10pm so no need to go out if you’re up for 5am Safari!
