Stunning location a short distance from the town, with fantastic views of the sea, very warm welcome on arrival. superb optional evening meals, we dined in twice and the food was delicious. The evening waiter served everything perfectly and the owner was extremely helpful and very kind. The building layout is unique with lots of wood panelling and some beautiful stained glass windows. In some areas it is a little tired but it's a work in progress.

I struggled with the stairs due to mobility issues. 'There is no lift' The bathroom was tiny, however it is a very old building , we stayed in the twin room, all the rooms are different. I think if mobility is a problem it would be worth having a chat with the owners to see which room might be best to suit your needs.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Our two-night stay at Tyr Graig Castle was absolutely fantastic! Nestled just a short 15-minute stroll from the heart of Barmouth, the location was perfect—close enough to enjoy the town’s charming shops, cafés, and restaurants, yet peaceful enough to feel like a true retreat. The castle itself was full of character and history, offering a unique and cosy atmosphere that made our visit to Snowdonia even more memorable. It served as an ideal base for exploring the stunning surrounding landscapes, and we couldn’t have asked for a better spot to unwind after our adventures. Highly recommended!

The beautiful reception area and stairs were a warm welcome. A level place was allocated to park our motorcycles. The bed was massive and comfortable, the breakfast was ample, tasty with plenty of choice (perfect poached eggs)! Also had an evening meal that exceeded expectation, very friendly all round and would stay there again and recommend to others. Its an old building with character and is a living history, it isn't suitable for people with mobility issues and can't be altered to accommodate without destroying the integrity of the building, the owners have a mammoth task of maintaining it and running it as a buisness as it is. 😀

The white grab handle by the first floor door! It seems useless and doesn't fit the charm of the stairs.

This stay was amazing. The location is fabulous with amazing views. The service was brilliant such friendly and polite staff. They know the area and gave us recommendations of things to do. The food was really good as well. Also, the staff were willing to go above and beyond when my mobile phone fell out of my bag. I live just outside of London and when leaving I hadn't realised my mobile had fallen out of my bag. They contacted me and were so good about it. They wrapped it up really nicely and waited for the courier . Also phoned my other half to let us know when he had come and when he was leaving and they were just all round fantastic in such a stressful situation. The room was really spacious , with TV and all the essentials that you need. Also the bed was really comfy. I had a brilliant nights sleep. Breakfast as well was really tasty. If you stay in Wales in the north 100% worth staying here. Great value for money.

The only thing which was a little hard to use was the bathroom. It's just the lighting wasn't the best lighting for doing make up, but it wasn't a massive issue as just went and did that in the main room instead. So, not a massive deal and easily rectified.

This charming historic house retains numerous original features. We enjoyed excellent evening meals and breakfasts and commend the efficient and helpful service provided by Victor. The bathroom had a fantastic, powerful shower with plenty of excellent, fluffy towels. The room had a great balcony with far-reaching views over the town and bay. There were plenty of comfortable places to sit inside to enjoy a cold drink and the views. Outside were terraces to sit, weather permitting. The house was built by a local industrialist, and there is plenty of information about its interesting past around the walls of the hotel.

We LOVED Ty'r Graig Castle! When we arrived we were told we could have an upgrade to one of the rooms in a turret at no extra cost! The room was gorgeous! The staff were lovely and so helpful. The food was superb and the conservatory dining room overlooking the sea was amazing. We sat outside after our meal watching the most beautiful sunset! What a treat! We could walk to the town centre in about 15 minutes which suited us as we had travelled by train. The only slight issue was with the ensuite which, as stated on the booking form, was a little small but it didn't spoil our stay. We would definitely stay again! Thank you all for such a warm welcome!

Trudy and Mike made us welcome from the moment we arrived. They accommodated our changing plans and went out of their way to do their best for us. The hotel was perfect for us as we enjoy older, traditional architecture and interiors. The rooms are very clean and the beds are comfortable. Breakfast is expertly prepared with a good choice of traditional English food. Lovely views of the sea from the breakfast room and bar! Ample parking. A pleasant walk down the hill into Barmouth. We will definitely return.

Nothing to dislike

The location overlooking the bay is perfect and we received a warm welcome. Our room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was great with plenty of choice and we had dinner at the hotel on one evening and it was excellent. It's a great location just 20 mins walk into Barmouth and perfect for longer car journeys or the train to Harlech or Dolgellu and beyond. The weather was kind and it was lovely sitting on the terrace with a drink.

Don't think there was anything we didn't like. It's a perfect hotel for a few days in Barmouth and the north west Wales coast.

Room was pleasant, staff very friendly, comfy bed, balcony was great over looking the sea pity it rained all weekend, breakfast was lovely and hot, quick service, not buffet.

Saturday night started to rain so room was cold could not dry coats, could not turn heating on, we even resulted in putting hair dryrer on, quilt on bed could be bigger, heating came on in day time as we were going out, but whole hotel was cold unpleasant to have drink in.

The staff were a stand out. So willing to accomodate us on our later than expected arrival. They kept the kitchen open for us. The staff were so friendly and made us feel so welcome. They spoke warmly about the property and made pleasant conversation about the area and places to visit. The dining room was quaint and set up beautifully. The food was fresh, well cooked and presented. We enjoyed every minute and felt very welcome.
