Clean big rooms
No air con. Very stuffy even with window open. Girls toitlet door on 1st floor closest to the common room noisy. Kept slamming every time someone went in or out. Woke us up a couple of times.

Perfectly clean and comfortable, with genuinely friendly staff. There’s secure gated parking out the back, but the bays are standard size, so if you’re driving a yank-tank you might be in strife. It’s an easy stroll into the centre of Freo, the train station, or over to the E-Shed Markets. The shared bathrooms are surprisingly private — you’re not doing your thing out in the open. The common room has tea and coffee, a hot-and-cold spring water bubbler, and a fridge if you’ve brought supplies. It also attracts some absolute characters, so if you’re up for a colourful conversation, you’ll be in luck. The Australia Hotel usually comes in well under the daylight robbery of other Freo stays, and that reflects its much more down-to-earth nature. If you want where you’re staying to be as memorable as the places you visit, you’ll be stoked.
If you're carrying around a few more kilos than you should, like me, the mattress behaves more like a hammock than a bed. Not a deal breaker really, just don't be expecting a 5-star sleep. The Mrs and youngster had no trouble at all nodding off on theirs.

The staff were friendly, helpful and easygoing - cheers for that. Great price for what you get - I took my own pillow for extra neck comfort and slept like a log. Carpark was easy to get in and out of, as was entering and exiting the Hotel during the night. If I ever have another concert to attend, this will be my place to stay again.
Floorboards under the carpet throughout hallways were creaky. Best to take thongs to slip in and out of when using the communial shower. For anyone who is a light sleeper, you might want to wear earplugs, sleep earphones, etc as you will hear the sound of people walking through the corridors at night and doors opening and closing. All manageable if you prepare for the night though. Can't fault the service here. 👍

I liked My room it was nice and quiet. The shower and toilet was very clean. The assistant manager Jerrah was extremely helpful and knowledgeable and friendly. He carried my bag up as I had a treatment done on my eye in Freemantle hospital. I was so greatful. The workers at the bar were extremely nice also. Fabulous location close to the beach trains and stores.
I didn't like the fact there was no air conditioning in the room and no screens on windows as it was very hot and the fans alone didn't help. Also in the kitchen lounge area the fridges were too small it was crammed with food and no room for mine. Jerrah did mention to me they're working on getting a bigger fridge.

An old hotel with a climate. The room is very small but for a couple of nights and if you don't plan on spending much time at the hotel alone it's perfectly fine. The bar downstairs offers great beer and it's a shame that it closes around 9 -9:30 pm. The shared bathroom was clean with spacious showers and a shelf to leave your belongings while showering. The hotel is located a 10 min walk from Rottnets Island ferry terminal and Fremantle Station. The streets can get pretty quiet at night so I guess one can feel a little unsafe when walking back late at night. Overall it's a great place to stay if you're planning to explore the region without the bustle of the Perth city centre. If ever in Fremantle I would definitely return.

The place is very affordable and centrally located. Bathrooms are shared. In general the place was kept clean and tidy. There was a “tv room” with fridge, tea/coffee, board games etc. The bar downstairs has some good offers and a lot of the hotel guests seem to go there. They close early so it’s quiet at night. It’s definitely not a luxury hotel but it was fine for us for a few days.
The staff was rarely at the reception and seemed to not know a lot about the place. They were all very sweet though. They don’t have any locked luggage room, so we just had to leave our luggage in one of the common rooms while we had breakfast on our last day, which felt a bit uncomfortable. The place could need a fresh paint of coat and some general maintenance.

Great location, large comfortable room, well furnished. Heritage building, so high ceilings. Pub downstairs, and the noise finished early. Guest lounge. Great value for money.
It was understaffed. It took a long time to get attention from the receptionist as often they were trying to run the bar at the same time. Or they would have the window closed trying to figure something out while people were waiting. Also there were facilities that we only became aware of near the end of our stay: a guest lounge and laundry. The hotel info book needs to be updated.

This is an old style hotel so no aircon, mini fridge, or in room bathroom or TV which we had zero problems with as there was a lounge with tea making facilities and really clean bathrooms down the hall. Really nice traditional old hotel. Clearly a historic building that is a ten min walk to the Freo arts centre. Great secure parking and in house wifi, nice big bar with tasty looking counter meals. We didn't try the food this time but the pics looked great and it was reasonably priced. Staff were really nice people. Will definitely be coming back.
As long as you are aware this is not a modern motel you will be fine. Old fashioned hotels are rare and a nice throw back.

An older establishment, the room was spacious and clean. The shared bathroom was a very short walk down the carpeted corridor, very clean and spacious. The kitchenette was clean and well appointed. Close to town (about 10 min walk to Cappuccino strip) and railway station across the road. Free parking behind a locked gate (keycard entry). I didn't eat in the restaurant, made the mistake of going to the fish pub up the road. The bar's great and I could not fault the staff, all were friendly and very helpful. And this place is cheap in comparison to some around this area. If you're looking for a basic, safe place to stay, this is it. I'd go back again.

Is a great location for walking into Fremantle or to the train station. Friendly and helpful staff, shared facilities were new and clean. The secure vehicle parking was excellent peace of mind.
The beds were very firm so not so comfortable. Would recommend taking your own pillows as you only get one and it is not a good one, One other thing is that the towels smell musty. I asked for a clean one, and it had the same odor, Like had not been washed with detergent or in storage for too long. something was not right with that aspect
