The staff were uniformly friendly and hospitable. I was loaned a kettle for the night, and the staff kindly put my medicine bottles in the freezer and a small bag in the fridge overnight. The breakfast was the highlight, with a variety of breads, cheeses, fruits, and sweets to choose from. The views from the guesthouse were spectacular, and the sheep greeted me in the morning when I went out for a walk on the farm. The shared bathroom among four rooms was large and always available when we needed it.

There was a lot of trash on the deck from other guests that hadn't been picked up. There should be a bathmat in the shower area.

Clean, comfortable and the family was very friendly. This is a converted home and so it was interesting to stay in the home and share a bathroom with other travelers, but it was not a problem schedule wise. The main house was also quiet given the shared space, the breakfast was wonderful. We had the best chat with one of the owners, just a wonderful stay overall.

We stayed in a room with twin beds so I could not sleep with spouse. Room was very small so tricky to lay out suitcases. No place to hang things to dry.

This hotel I booked to be closer to Stokknes . It’s a very cute hotel with easy self check in, which is great because we got in pretty late from exploring. It’s like an individual little cabin with big doors to see outside and thick black out curtains for nighttime. We saw northern lights for hours right outside the hotel! It was amazing!!! The breakfast is simple but good with some homemade food. It’s run by husband and wife and they are so kind. I love chatting with them and saying hi to their dog!

We booked a double room with a shared bathroom. The room was very clean and functional. The beds were quite comfortable. Again, we arrived late, but the host was very accommodating and was available for a late check-in. The shared bathroom was very spacious and also clean. The breakfast was consistent: cold cuts, cheeses, eggs, veggies, fruits, yogurt , cereals, milk, coffee, and tea plus an array of breads. We really enjoyed our stay.

Very nice and convenient stay on the Ring road. The rooms are really tastefully decorated, comfortable, spacious for 2 people, with nice view of surrounding meadows. We enjoyed the wake-up call from the sheep. Also the breakfast offers nice variety of choices.

In comparison to other apartments/rooms we stayed in on our Ring road trip, this one was twice the price and beside the breakfast, it really didn’t offer anything more than others.

Lovely quiet location but not too far away from tourist locations, perfect for us as we like being away from the busier areas. Lovely breakfast and staff too. Highlight was the marked hike up to the Glacier at the back of the property, but make sure you have decent boots and don’t mind heights as it’s a narrow trail along the side of a bank that drops straight down to the river.

The breakfast options were excellent. The guest houses were very modern and well appointed. The shower was amazing after a chilly windy day.

We arrived expecting a pull out couch to accommodate 3 of us. There was confusion by staff as to why there were 2 chairs instead. We were gracefully offered 2 separate rooms in the main house but preferred the external guest house so we could be all together, we made due. Was an uncomfortable night for our 15 year old.

The setting was excellent, right off the ring road, so peaceful and comfortable. There’s a beautiful trail that starts at the farm - a huge bonus as I could hike and my husband could park himself in front of the TV. The room was clean and spacious, breakfast was plentiful. The lamb pâté was delicious. Very helpful staff.

I wish we could have stayed another night.

Nice location for exploring the South of Iceland. Only 30 minutes from Hofn with shops and restaurants and half an hour from Glacier Lagoon and Diamond Beach. Nice guesthouse with nice staff, good breakfast and comfortable rooms.

During our two night stay there was a wind storm which resulted in Route 1 being closed which meant we weren’t able to get back to the guesthouse for our second night stay. We were told road closures happen all the time so it would have been nice for the guesthouse to just warn us that there maybe road closures due to the storm coming and we wouldn’t have driven so far from the accommodation. Once we were stuck, we tried multiple times to call the hotel to see if they could help at all, with no answer and no call back. It would also have been nice if they could have checked in on us to make sure we were okay but never heard anything from them. Left us feeling like they didn’t really care.

We had a lovely stay at Skalafell! Owned and managed by a welcoming local family, we stayed in one of the units facing the sheep meadow and loved it. Breakfasts were very nice and we had delicious dinners on two nights. The best part is that the guesthouse is located at the trailhead of a loop trail that takes you up close to one of the glaciers at Vatnajokull National Park, which we hiked one morning for an unforgettable experience!

There was not much to not like. The only thing I can think of is that the unit faced south and got full sun for close to 24 hours (it was mid June) so it got a bit warm. But this is a minor quibble and didn't detract from our wonderful stay.
