I was nervous because my daughter and I booked the smallest room to save money. Turned out to be great and space was not an issue. It was sparkling clean, comfortable, and very attractive. The bathroom was very spacious. There was an upstairs and downstairs hotel balcony where you could have a drink or a bite to eat and they had spray misters to keep you cool. There was also a nice indoor bar area and a dining room. Parking was not a problem with a hotel lot and street parking. Staff was super friendly and helpful with questions. We were able to walk to everything in town.

There was really nothing I didn't like except leaving!

One needs to keep in mind that Hotel Sutter is very, very old. Rebuilt in 1867 after the original building burned down. It was a very fun place to stay and the employees were very helpful, going the extra mile for us to make sure we were well taken care of. The room, although small was quite comfortable with the air conditioning very quiet and working well. The hotel upgrades are nice and the newish elevator, although slow is in excellent condition. We were fortunate with parking for the three nights we were there to get parking right in front of the hotel. Two spaces on the street were available there and each night we were able to use one of them.

Staff very welcoming & friendly. Food was excellent and enjoyed the friendly atmosphere in the bar. Room was quiet for a good night’s sleep 💤

Housekeeping need attention we stayed 2 nights and came back after a day out to find our room not only unlocked but not cleaned or refreshed with towels etc. Having said that the manager soon sorted it out promptly. A couple of small things could improve the room we were in, a bedside lamp and a small fridge. We still enjoyed our stay hear and would come back.

The location is perfect. The rooms are cute and clean (we have stayed here before). The bar is wonderful.

We had good food at the restaurant on the night we stayed and decided to have breakfast in the morning. The waitress seemed a little overwhelmed and there were not many customers. I ordered the smoked salmon Benedict - hubby ordered the breakfast burger. It took an hour for our food to arrive. Hubby’s food was good, mine was awful. It was not smoked salmon but I believe left over salmon from the night before smashed into the croissant. The eggs were overcooked and the hollandaise sauce was non existent, very disappointing. However we will come back to the hotel as we do really like it here

Visited for New Years Eve Prohibition event. It was probably the best New Years experience we've had. Encouraging patreons to join staff by dressing in era appropriate clothes created an authentic feel. Dinner was lovely. Drinks in the Copper Room made the evening perfect! The musicians & singers were great to listen to all night. Normally we would never go out on New Years. Many public events in Sacramento (where we live) aren't even safe to attend anymore. Drunk unruly crowds have led to more than one shooting in Old Sacramento (very similar historical town). It's sad when we have an equally cool spot in our own backyard yet it is too dangerous to enjoy. Sutter was safe, not overly crowded, no obnoxious intoxicated people. Just a relaxing & enjoyable experience. We will be making the drive to visit in the future. Well worth traveling for.

No tiny fridge/microwave made us order less at restaurant downstairs no way to safely keep/reheat. Missed opportunity to capitalize on the restaurant by offering some sort of room service; even limited menu & hours would go a long way to add to the luxury feel.

I grew up in Sutter Creek. My boyfriend and I stayed there prior to my son’s high school graduation. My boyfriend loved it because so many places to walk and see. We especially loved the balcony at night just to watch Main Street and have a cocktail! Thanks, Hotel Sutter!!

Liked everything about it. F&B; customer service; quiet in middle of small, cute town; clean room; nice shower; coffee in room; msg & chocolate greeting on bed; midweek price.

Full bed is advertised, so nothing wrong at all, however a couple would appreciate a queen bed in the small room. Then again, there is probably a queen option for an extra charge.

The room was very clean, and the bed and pillows were very comfortable. We really liked being able to go downstairs to a nice restaurant and bar.

For the price, the small amenities we're missing. For example, the towels were not very luxurious but were on the small and scratchy side, there was only one washcloth, and no glasses for the bathroom. The lack of a mini fridge was also a negative.

Beautiful and charming hotel in the most perfect location! Each room is unique with its own special touch. Food and drinks in the hotel restaurant were delicious and we loved the historic/chic ambiance. The town is absolutely adorable, like a hallmark movie with many great shops. We will definitely stay again!!

Comfortable bed. Adequate storage to unpack luggage into. Good restaurant in the hotel. Staff were very attentive and friendly. While they say breakfast is not included, they did have a few pastries and coffee available gratis in the morning before the restaurant opened. Restaurant opens at 10. We went to Sutter Creek for the ragtime festival. Staying in that hotel was in the center of town and perfect for us.

The hotel is very, very old. It does have updated plumbing and bath fixtures. Lighting in the room and bath are okay, but not good. In the bath, for example, you would not want to do elaborate makeup. It is difficult and expensive to maintain such an old building. The place is not slick and modern. We have no complaints, but we were aware of the effort and expense it takes to maintain the place, and that the room price reflects that. We plan to stay there again.
