We have just come back from a one night stay in Sneaton Castle. The property is fantastic. We had a room with a great view overlooking the garden. The room was beautiful with rustic features, very well decorated, piping hot water with a free-standing bath, separate walk-in shower with a large comfortable bed. The whole property is immaculately clean. The staff are all very helpful and friendly. We had our evening meal and breakfast the following morning. The food was beautiful, and we will certainly be back. Highly recommended.

Nothing.

It was lovely to have a freshly cooked and served breakfast (and not a buffet battle). Our meal in the bar was also excellent. The room was extremely comfortable with lovely views. The staff were very friendly and helpful and we liked hearing the story of how the hotel came into being. Parking was plentiful and free and as the weather was good we walked down into Whitby for the day, which took about 25 minutes.

It was a long way, up and down multiple staircases, through doors and round corridors, to get from the car to reception to our room, which was up in one of the 'turrets'. We had more luggage than normal with us because we were at the end of a one week holiday which included a wedding. There are no lifts. We are relatively fit and could manage but anyone with mobility issues might struggle. I also worried a bit about finding the way out in an emergency. The room was lovely, quiet and comfortable but extremely expensive. I had pushed out the boat a bit because it was our wedding anniversary but I would probably be as happy with a cheaper room next time!

There's no doubt the building is beautiful and the grounds immaculate. Room was great and we liked the bathroom. We also like we could log in to our Netflix and Prime account on a smart TV. Breakfast was amazing. Lots of options.

The fact that we could not take dessert up to our room. We didn't eat in the restaurant in the evening again after. Its the first time we've been told we couldn't do that at a hotel. No reason was given. Just no. No food in the room. Yet nowhere in the room did it warn against bringing food up. Kind of irked me. Why?

From driving up the drive on arrival the building looks impressive. We were checked in and taken to our room which was spotless. We went on a day the sun was shining and managed to sit outside on the impressive terrace whilst we ate lunch, pate and toast and the cheese board. Never had a cheese board with a slab of cake and a glass of port included. After lunch we sat in the garden area and soaked up the sun as well as a few gin and tonics and a few pints of cider. We returned to our room for a shower and change and made it down to the restaurant, which we were recommended to book. The food was exceptional and piping hot, cannot fault a single mouthful. The waiting staff exceptionally attentive but not intrusive and very polite. We had a good nights sleep in very comfortable beds followed by one of the best hotel breakfasts I can remember, the fruit appeared to have been picked as we were sat down at our table. All in all, a magnificent experience and a winning way to celebrate my wife's birthday. Thank you, each and every member of staff for such a brilliant weekend. Definitely an 11 out of 10 kind of place. Book it, you won't be disappointed.

Can't think of a single thing, not one!

The hotel and its environment were lovely and very welcoming. The staff overall were extremely pleasant and accommodating. The bedroom was comfortable and well stocked. When we booked nobody informed us the the room was four flights of stone steps. In our case we are still pretty fit but reception didn’t offer any help with cases etc Parking was excellent.

Food overall was good but the portions were huge and a little overwhelming. After our evening meal there was nowhere to go and relax away from the restaurant with a drink. The hotel was extremely busy with lots of families eating……we felt there should be quieter areas for eating without children

We stayed in room 3, overlooking a lovely garden, the room was a good size with a large and very comfortable bed, although sleep is never the same when you're not in your own bed we enjoyed a really good nights sleep here. An assortment of tea/coffee bags are provided with a kettle and a couple of cups so that you can have hot drinks in the room. The staff were lovely, always pleasant and really helpful. The shower was good, nice hot water, good pressure and in a large size room with toiletries and robes provided. We also enjoyed the breakfasts, delicious and set us up well for a good days walking. On our last day we had a sticky toffee pudding and have to say (we have tried many as it is a favourite of ours) this was definitely the best tasting and best decorated one that we have ever had.

For a two night stay there was nothing that we didn't like, everything was great. If we had been staying for longer we would have found a wardrobe arrangement with more hanging space useful.

We had first visited Sneaton Castle with friends for an evening meal and were so impressed we decided to return for stay as a base for an overnight visit to Whitby. We only needed a double room but were most impressed by the quality of all the fixtures and fittings and although the room was quite snug, it was large enough for one night. The check-in was seamless assisted by the very friendly reception staff who lead us to our room. After a relaxing couple of hours in the bar we dined in the Restaurant where once again the staff were most friendly and keen to ensure that my wife's dairy-free dietary requirements were fully met. The Menu, whilst not expansive, has something for everyone and we enjoyed a nicely relaxed meal of superb quality in the nicely decorated Restaurant. Breakfast was also a pleasant experience, with lovely fresh food served by cheerful serving staff. Check-out was quite simple and rounded of an excellent stay at Sneaton Castle which we couldn't fault in any way. Well done all round.

Nothing....all good!

The castle was easy to find and the location was perfect. Beautiful grounds with amazing sculptures on view. The staff were fantastic and couldn’t do enough to make our stay wonderful. Our room was lovely and it was obvious that attention to detail had been made.

The radiators would not turn on despite us following the instructions and it was too late in the evening to inform anybody. The room was a little chilly but a nice thick extra blanket had been provided.

We stayed in the King Suite and it was superb. We loved having a dressing room and the shower with its multiple jets was fabulous. The jury is still out on the whirlpool bath. The water bubbling under my bottom was a very strange sensation - usually only experienced after eating baked beans! The bed was extremely comfortable and the wine goblets were a nice touch.

Only a few small things. It would have been nice to have a coffee table in front of the sofa. We had to put our coffee cups on the floor which wasn't ideal as were were scared of spilling them. We would have liked a small fridge for cold drinks. And during the night we felt slightly hot and tried to open the windows for a through breeze only to find that all the windows except for one were locked.

The breakfast was awesome and especially the service with KiKi from Sweden...what a delightful person.!! And kudos to the chef for allowing us to try the English Kippers... Check-in was very smooth and the staff was so kind and helpful. We even received a tour of the castle wedding facility before we left...SO BEAUTIFUL.!! Our story is 50 years ago we dated as 14 and 15 year olds for 8 years then as we acquired degrees, jobs, and moves to separate cities we lost our way together and each married other people...after my husband passed away, he reached out to me with condolences, and we just kept on chatting for some reason. Found ourselves meeting up occasionally since we live in different states and recently on this trip to England together. Wanting to stay in an English castle while here, I booked the Sneaton Castle for 1 night since we were visiting Whitby and not realizing it was mainly a wedding venue until we arrived, we checked into a suite which by the way was fabulous.!! I received a tour of the chapel and fell in love instantly...his first marriage was in the front yard of his home, I eloped and mine was in a little chapel in Reno, NV both not your typical "fairytale weddings" and when I showed him the chapel there at Sneaton Castle even his eyes lit up and I said, "Will you marry me, here.?" He smiled, and shook his head YES, someday...we were pleasantly surprised with the tour of the gardens and the reception area...I've been dreaming about it since.!! Excellent job on renovations of every area.!! Not one thing left undone...again, IT'S FABULOUS.!!! Dreaming of a wedding in my future at Sneaton Castle and I'm 67 years young...never stop dreaming.!!
