Wonderful hotel, and such fun to open the front door and see 37 steps straight up! They ran down the stairs to carry my backpack up, even when I protested I’d been using the stairmaster for weeks to prepare, haha. My room was only a short flight upstairs, and so comfortable. I got the single, with a twin bed, but I loved the view of the garden out back, and it was the perfect size for one tall (and slightly overweight) 50+ gal. The bed was very soft, with fresh new sheets - too soft for me, but I slept well just the same, in peace and quiet. Breakfast is amazing! Fancy machines to make any type of coffee or espresso, and even fresh mint for a hot cup of mint tea. I couldn’t believe all the choices of food for breakfast - from toast and eggs to granola, fruit, juice, and muffins. There were 8 tables inside, and more outside on the cutest balcony overlooking “old world European buildings”. From the street, in my pic, they have the nicest looking balconies, with planter boxes and flags flying. All the guys I met working the desk were friendly and helpful. Do your exercises like you know you should, but don’t worry, they are happy to carry your luggage up and down stairs, anytime. I like small and personal accommodations, not huge chain hotels. This feels family run, and local, with the feel of a European city. If you want to stay in American-style accommodations, go to the Hilton, and be boring! (Not sure if there is a Hilton…) I love the Hotel Clemens! Oh, and centrally located. Easy to find after a long day in the maze of Amsterdam’s streets!
All good!

Hotel Clemens is in a brilliant location close to public transport and many attractions with good shops and facilities nearby. Breakfast room and public lounge facilities plus outdoor balcony were all comfortable and excellent. Room was comfy and staff were brilliant even helping us with luggage up and down, very helpful i would like to commend them. Communication with staff before and during our stay was excellent too. Breakfast was great and tasty and well stocked and in a clean area constantly maintained and we loved the 24 hour coffee tea hot chocolate availability thanks!
Nothing could have been better it was brilliant, you are all doing a great job thanks!

The experience of a traditional *Dutch* house. Narrow, steep wooden stairs greeted you as you opened the front door. Reception was on the 2nd floor. The men were amazing and offered/ took bags up and down for everyone. The reception/lounge and dining areas were available to use whenever. On arrival, I was offered snacks and refreshments. I was given a city map, and key locations were explained. The single room was adequate for what I needed. Loved the opportunity to experience staying here. The key card for my room also opened the front door, so I could come and go as I pleased. Good variety of breakfast... which was included in the price. Perfect location to trams, canals, shops, and Anne Frank house.

Absolutely beautiful charming historical property with breakfast room so authentic and with lovely terrace and views. Great location and close to tram stop too.
The steep stairs were a real challenge for me. However I felt the experience wouldn’t have been the same without that aspect. It was atypical historical Amsterdam house…the staff were extremely helpful and accommodating, bringing our luggage up and down the stairs for us which cancelled any initially daunting aspect of this. The room would not suit a claustrophobic (really small) but again this was part of the charm😊

The location was great, walking distance of the train station and main city sights The room was basic but comfortable and clean. The air con was a must as we were at the top of the house and it was hot and sunny during our stay. Although our room didn’t have tea/coffee making facilities, The lobby was a good space to sit for a change of scenery. The breakfast choice was ample with a good variety of food. Free wi fi The staff were friendly and very helpful.
Be aware there are a lot of steep narrow stairs to get to reception and the rooms, with no lift. Carrying luggage was an adventure. However this would not put us off from recommending the hotel or perhaps returning one day

The location was so central to both sides of exploring Amsterdam by foot but in a nice spot away from the noisy hub of everything. Go right for dam square and left floor Anne frank house. The hotel was clean, quiet, air-conditioned and safe for us three girls. Staff lovely, breakfast nice and 24hr coffee/tea facilities a bonus! Would highly recommend.
The stairs!! Was aware of this before booking but didn't think it would be so steep and long. Fine for us on top third floor room but not if you're not very mobile. However, the very nice receptionist carried our bags up to the first floor for us on arrival. What a gentleman!!

The location was perfect. Just a few blocks from the Anne Frank House. It was in the middle of the historic district and canals. Not far from the train station. The hotel is in a historic zone which restricts modifications. There is no elevator and the stairs are so steep they are almost a ladder. The staff were happy to carry my bags for me. The room was very small which is consistent with the historic quarter. If you want a large room and an elevator you should stay in a new hotel outside of the historic zone. I personally loved it and would definitively stay there again. The breakfast was great and I especially loved the coffee. The staff was great!
The room was small but that added to the ambiance. .........................................................................................

Very friendly and helpful staff and a relaxed atmosphere. The location is excellent, close to everything. And the price is very competitive, especially for the centre of Amsterdam.
It cannot be changed, but travellers should be ready for the 3-4 flights of very steep stairs they must ascend upon entering. There is no elevator. One of the staff came rushing down to help with my bags when I arrived but you have to be healthy and fit to stay here. I enjoyed the exercise but I anticipate that some guests may have difficulty. The rooms are small and without amenities such as coffee and tea. But coffee was available in the lounge and I was not charged for the latte I requested.

Stayed four nights. Received a very warm welcome and were treated royally--luggage was brought up the steep stairway (typical of Amsterdam) for us and was stored until our check-in time. We were treated to a cappuccino, and sat in a comfortable, well-appointed lounge area. Staff gave us detailed, helpful information. Room was comfortable with good linens and mattress, clean modern bath with a good hot shower, and good varied TV channels, comfortable AC. Daily breakfast was super with something for everyone. Staff was always most courteous and helpful. Perfect location with easy walkability to Anne Frank's house (one block away), museums, public transition in front of hotel (2 stops away from the central rail station--use #12 or #17 tram across from the church).
Did not want to leave.

The bathroom was small. I couldn't lean over the sink without hitting my head on the shelf, so had to adjust my angle. Similarly with the toilet + sink - I had to adjust. Shower was great. Really nice hot water. The bedroom was the size I would expect in Amsterdam or most EU cities. I had enough room to put my open trolley bag on the floor. There was also a fridge and almost ceiling to floor windows that opened up to a courtyard with a huge tree. Breakfast was basic buffet. The staff were friendly and you could see that they cared about client happiness.
