The location was great, the staff were really friendly and helpful. The food in the cafe and restaurant was fantastic.

Unfortunately, some of the electrics in our room needed updating, mainly the ones next to the bed, my husband has sleep apnoea and has to use a CPAP machine, but the staff supplied us with an extension lead so that helped. Also, we had a problem with our dinner on the Saturday, we had a very long wait for our food due to being a chef down, but the staff were very apologetic and gave us complimentary drinks, the food was great once it did arrive!

Breakfast was above expectations Location was fantastic Staff member DENISE went above and beyond to help with mobile limitations that Lionel had.Such a caring genuine lady. Absolute gem👏

Room sadly did not live up to expectations:Specifically requested a ground floor bedroom.On arrival was allocated room up several stairs. Thankfully Denise intervened and was able to accommodate us in ground floor room,(although it would have cost more but was given a reduction under circumstances.Bed in the room seperated in the middle and was uncomfortable. No bathrobe or slippers

A warm welcome from Denise on the front desk, a warm, comfortable room. I would recommend staying here just for the views. The food was lovely. The staff were all friendly and although the restaurant was unexpectedly busy we were served a lovely meal with night views across the Chesil beach and Weymouth Bay. Breakfast was very good with a good selection of items to choose from. Breakfast was very relaxed and unhurried with no staff fussing around you to clear the tables quickly ... All together a lovely overnight stay for my wife's birthday weekend.

This is in no way a complaint as it was an unprecedented occurrence in an off season and we fully appreciated the staff were doing everything they could and kept us informed. Due to it being out of season, the amount of " walk ins" took everyone by surprise This in no way detracted from the service and overall experience.

It was very quiet, the staff were ultra friendly and it was an ideal base. The views from the restaurant, bistro and cafe bar are absolutely stunning just like the photos. Less than 10 minutes to Weymouth and about the same into Portland bill which is also worth a visit. Try the lobster pot restaurant and cafe there, I can recommend the crab and prawn sandwiches. While on the subject of food, going back to the Heights restaurant, the food on the main menu is out of this world, from what we saw the bistro servings were also impressive. My wife and I will definitely be returning to the Heights again. Thank you to all concerned for making our stay unforgettable for all the right reasons.

Fantastic view over Chesil beach and Portland Harbour. Excellent choice for breakfast to suit all dietary requirements from a Traditional British Fry up to veggie / vegan. Booked a Superior size room which was a good size with King Bed, Bathroom with Large Bath with shower.

Very poor wi-fi strength ( signal kept dropping out VERY annoying ) in are Room/ Area of hotel. Please get it sorted owners of Portland Heights Hotel. One small and might be looked on by some as unimportant but there were never enough milk pots / tubes with the tea/coffee making facilities, although if you popped down the reception they always supplied more willingly.

The hotel is in a great central and high position and affords tremendous views accross Portland, Weymouth and the Jurrasic Coast. The food was good in both the Restaurant and Cafe. The staff without exception were brilliant throughout our stay, polite, helpful and hardworking.

The Hotel is a bit dated now but all areas were spotlessly clean and comfortable. Our room was in need of redecoration but was comfortable and clean. The ensuite bathroom was small and was an internal room with no windows or ventilation. The extractor fan in the bathroom did not operate with the light switch and had no separte switch. Ours was a first floor room so we were able to leave the windows open for ventilation in any case.

The view overlooking Chesil beach was breathtaking and the sunsets were beautiful. The location of the hotel was perfect for us with free parking which was a godsend. Just a short drive in to Weymouth and very close to so many other wonderful places too. 5 minutes or so to Portland Bill. The hotel was spotlessly clean as was our room. The bed was comfy and we had both a bath and a shower in our en suite. The food was delicious both breakfast and evening meal and the view from the restaurant is fantastic. The staff were amazing too, nothing was touch trouble for them. They were happy in their work and genuinely friendly and very professional. We were enjoying our stay so much we booked another night and extended our holiday

The only thing I would say is we waited a long time for our evening meal and a long time between courses. We only had two courses but were in the restaurant 2 hours!! We only had an evening meal here once during our stay as we were out every day until late so I'm unable to say if this was just a one off. The food itself was delicious and the view from the restaurant was amazing

Stunning location - amazing views (in the morning!) Staff were really welcoming and friendly. Room was spacious, modestly equipped but super clean. Food was generous and tasty. Easy and secure parking. Loads of interesting places to visit nearby, with lots of information provided. We'll be back 😃

The weather wasn't totally cooperative. Fog blocked our afternoon views. Dramatic overnight storms and winds kept us awake - but that was beyond the hotel's control. Filtered coffee at breakfast wasnt great, would've preferred a freshly made cup.

Helpful staff. Plenty of food selection at breakfast.

The bathroom smelled of cats pee. I brought this to the attention of the Duty Manager but he could not detect the smell. However he did offer a room replacement, which I declined at the time. He requested the cleaners to clean the bathroom and the bathroom smelt very good. Sadly the cat pee smell slowly returned during the day. I can only think that either the bathroom floor was reacting negatively to the cleaning solution or possibly an issue with the drains. It is fair to say that the smell reduced over my 3 day visit but clearly there is an issue with this room that needs a more detailed investigation. I have stayed at his hotel quite often with no issues with smells in the bathroom (though not in this particular room).

The room and facilities were excellent, the bed large and comfortable, the cleaning ladies were happy and accommodating. Breakfast and Dinner taken seated in the Bistro Restaurant with the wonderful views over Chesil Beach and the town was outstanding. The food was plentiful and varied. Many thanks to the waiting staff and the chefs for being helpful and looking after us though-out the week. There were also adequate disabled facilities.

Would have liked more room to access the wash basin in the shower room.
