Breakfast was great with vegan sausages cooked separately. Lovely single room with view of the sea. great service from Martin who went that little extra to make things really good for all of us. Would definitely stay again as really convenient for our work. Its also a diving centre so great for any sub aquaists out there !

My brothers bed was a little soft ( but he prefers them more firm). Restaurant and bar was closed to staff shortages on 1st night but Martin was already had a new recruit in the next day and had also offered to open up the bar and cook some food up if needed ( was another nearby pub open so my brother went down there)

The room was modern, well decorated, very clean and bright (nice big clean windows). The bed, bedding and bathroom were all very good quality. The complimentary full breakfast was generous and its inclusion made the nightly rate very competitive. The location on Portland was good for exploring east or west along the Jurassic Coast and Portland itself was unexpectedly full of scenic corners and interesting things to visit.

The instant coffee in the bedroom was v. poor (bitter) which was a shame as it was otherwise very much appreciated that coffee/tea making facilities were provided in the room (and good glass mugs, and a proper kettle).

Don't be put off by the outside of this small hotel, which looked like it may have seen better days. Inside, Martin has carried out extensive renovation, making the place clean and modern, with an art deco feel. Martin was an excellent host and we enjoyed hearing about the history of the hotel. The rooms were small but tidy and comfortable, with everything we needed for our stay. Breakfast was tasty and there was a good selection of food that catered for my various allergies. We had a lovely evening with a couple of drinks in the bar, which carried a good selection of drinks and had fun talking to Polly, the resident parrot!

Unfortunately the hotel restaurant was not open during our stay. This wouldn't have been an issue ordinarily, but all of the restaurants on the island are also closed on Mondays. Martin was accommodating, however, allowing us to have a takeaway in the bar.

Like many establishments in the hospitality sector at the moment the hotel is wanting to recruit more staff. That aside the owner went above and beyond. The room , we booked a basic one as we were only there overnight, was clean, comfortable and fully functional. Breakfast was included and brilliant with plenty choice and as much as you wanted. The location was perfect for our visit to a local manufacturer. For anyone who likes uk diving there is a dive centre next door and the hotel owner has that too. A win win. Hoping to return with some friends for a dive trip. Martyn and his staff couldn’t have made us more welcome.

Very reasonable cost compared to most other hotels in the area that all seem to charge a lot. It is an area with lots of interesting things to see and do. It is particularly well situated for people who come to the area for sub aqua diving or who are walking the South West Coast Path. The hotel is fairly basic but that is all I needed and the price is commensurate.

There is limited parking owned by the hotel but if the hotel spaces are taken up, you can park for free in a nearby side street by the castle.

A lovely small hotel, quite basic but perfect place to rest your head and spend an evening. The evening food was good and everyone very friendly. A perfect place to stay for a few nights if touring around or if you need somewhere to stay for work or an event.

I couldn't fault anything but I wasn't expecting a hotel with plenty of facilities

The location was brilliant for exploring Portland and Weymouth :3 Really nice to be able to get a family room for 3 adults! It seems ridiculously hard to find places that sleep 3 adults, and when we're a brother, sister, father combo, it does make it awkward going away together because booking 2 separate rooms to fit the 3 of us isn't really affordable!

The only thing that was a little disappointing was the breakfast. It wasn't bad as such. Everything we had was tasty :3 It's just one of the mornings there weren't any pastries, and that's usually one of the only things me and my dad eat at breakfast buffets, especially me as I don't eat cooked breakfast at all.

We stopped one night during our road trip in England. The place was nice. The all family slept in one room, which was clean and tidy. The person at the reception and breakfast person gave us good advices about places to go for diner and.or visit. The parrot in the hotel was very good surprise and fun for our kids.

The area is not the most beautiful of the town but for one night, it's ok.

Good buffet breakfast of Sausages, bacon, scrambled eggs, hash browns, mushrooms and baked beans. Cereal, toast, juice and tea/coffee were available. Hotel was clean and homely. Bar on site.

Beds could have been a little more comfortable but were adequate. Parking is limited but you can park in the car park next door as long as you move it by 8am.
