Although not in a town or village .....its on a main road its still a good Location for surrounding areas...nice and quiet. Very welcoming . The rooms are in a separate building behind the pub so you don't get really any road noise at all. Rooms are a good size and clean and comfortable. Breakfast is either a cooked one or cereal and toast and the cooked is really lovely. The pub also serves food till 7.30pm which is also very good pub food

Nothing not to like

Staff friendly and welcoming, enjoyable full English breakfast, excellent choice for main meals and good value. Location good for visiting Ashbourne and Buxton, and walking the Tissington Trail. 24 hour separate resident access, plenty of car parking space and reliable internet.

On arrival we were informed that the room would not be serviced due to staff shortages this was not a problem for our 3 night stay.

The wonderful welcome everyone got as they walked into the pub - Vicky is an outstanding landlady; she work’s incredibly hard and always maintains a smile. The food was delicious especially the scrumptious Sunday lunch, even without me peas 😂- everything is reasonably priced. Our room was spotless- it provided us with everything we needed. The pub is ideally placed for travelling around. Even some of the locals were friendly - something you simply don’t find in some areas.

Some reviews complain about the road - really ! We live in a rural area - traffic for us is rare but honestly if you fill your day with fun you won’t even notice the traffic- it’s not like sirens go blaring up and down constantly. Our only personal grip was the hardness of the bed in room 5. That is purely personal preference- I’m sure when we return, if we ask, Vicky would do her best to find us something a little bit softer

Breakfast was really good. We also had two evening meals which were excellent. Rooms cosy and we'll equipped. On a main road but adequate parking.

Although book says to ask for more tea, coffee etc the staff seemed reluctant when asked. I actually bought my own to save having to ask again.

Excellent position with amazing views. A warm welcome from the proprietors and a very pleasant couple of pints of ale in the gardens enjoying the views. The room was very comfortable and clean. Dinner and breakfast were both served in the bar, which was nicely decorated and had a good atmosphere. The food was excellent and plentiful with reasonable prices ensuring good value for money.

Nothing to dislike.

Lovely cosy pub with real log fire, room was nicely decorated, very clean and nicely set out with 2 armchairs and all you needed, good tea and coffee making facilities. We ate at the pub both nights and it was nice homecooked food, it always came out very quickly and was piping hot, breakfast was the same. The hosts were very nice and friendly. The village of Hartington a 5 minute drive away is so lovely, very picturesque as is the whole of Derbyshire.

Mattresses could have done with replacing, one was OK but one really dipped in the middle. Don't want to be negative as this was such a nice place and understand given the hard economic climate that this is an expense. Maybe 2 memory foam toppers would be a good interim idea.

This is a lovely down to earth pub with a convivial atmosphere. The rooms, in a modern annexe, are basic but very comfortable whilst the food is excellent home cooked with a well thought out menu. The hosts were friendly and nothing was too much trouble.

The welcome each day, the friendly atmosphere in the bar. The beef pie 🥧. The location was perfect for our walking. The ample freshly cooked breakfast and the beer.

Very happy with the whole experience.

We recently stayed over a weekend at the Jug & Glass having chosen it based on other reviews. Not only did our stay live up to our expectations , it really exceeded them! This is a cosy, traditional country pub with a warm welcome from the owners & staff. Our room was clean, modern & cosy with a great view over the surrounding countryside. The pub itself is a great place to relax with a drink or two & the owners are really friendly. The food menu is varied & we really enjoyed our evening meals. After the first night we quickly realised that we wouldn’t need to look elsewhere to eat for our second night! Table service was excellent & nothing seemed to be too much trouble for Kayla who looked after us. Breakfast was very nice too, with everything freshly prepared. So, all in all an excellent experience & a real gem. Our thanks to Vicky, Daryll, Kayla & the kitchen staff. We will definitely visit again in the future!

Absolutely nothing al all.
