Really nice, modern, clean, well-equipped room. Nice bar and restaurant. Decent location near Matlock to explore the dales.

Very nice breakfast food, but very little things like making tea from a flask of not-hot-enough water, shortage of glasses, silly toast arrangement on the plate, no side plate, made it NEARLY perfect. Staff seemed a bit over-run at times on bank holiday weekend. WiFi was too slow for streaming on the TV. These are all minor gripes because our stay was really comfortable and fun, but with a few tweaks, this place could be really excellent.

Arrived on a Friday so there busiest night and had to park on roadside and bring car in bit later but no big deal. Had a table booked for food and good selection with new menu and very nice. Staff were friendly and helpful and managed to look after us even though it was busy. Rooms are clean and basic but very good quality furniture and our room even had Jacussi bath which sadly didn't have time to try. Bed was firm but comfy for me as thats what i prefer. Full english breakfast was great 👍. Location is just on edge of housing estate on main road so not a lot going on but good for a base for touring peak district , etc. Would definately stay again 👍

lovely pub. food was excellent and would definitely eat here again. fantastic breakfast. and able to cater for partners gluten intolerance with plenty of options. comfortable large room. everything that was needed for the one night. wasn't far to drive into Matlock. Free parking. nice outdoor pub garden.

it was a little noisy as our room was above the entrance to the pub so could hear people outside and the vehicles in the car park. nothing major though. didn't affect our stay in the slightest. I struggle with going up stairs and there wasn't a lift. only on first floor so not too bad. my partner carried the luggage and I took my time. I couldn't have stayed on the 2nd floor so when booking again will bear this in mind. hadn't occurred to me when booking. the stairs aren't steep though so not too bad.

the hotel is on a busy main road through the village. the hotel looks nice from the outside and is very well kempt. The inside of the hotel, bar and restaurant are very well decorated and really clean & tidy. our room was quite spacious the shower was powerful and the bed was comfy. everything was clean. the breakfast choice and quality was very good, cereals, fruit juice, tea and coffee and order hot food from the menu. pleasant staff.

double glazing was not very good in room 205, maybe the seals have gone, but it let a lot of noise into the room.

Impressed by the welcome we received; friendly polite young man. The room was better than we expected; very clean, smart furniture and comfy king size bed.. the room appeared recently decorated. The bathroom was a good size, with the shower over the bath. Detailed notices clearly understood. We were meeting family so did not eat in the pub, but enjoyed local beer and a glass of wine later. All was quiet after closing time. We slept fairly well. Breakfast (included in the booking) choice excellent and we were looked after by a cheerful young lady. Our only disappointments were the coffee in the dining room was a poor instant one and when I asked for a round of toast was politely advised I would be charged as it was an extra..

Located just off what I thought would be a busy A-road, but it turned out to be a really quiet area. The views from the window were superb when the sun rose. The evening meal in the restaurant was delicious, the onion ring with the Jockey Burger was to die for! Topped off with a wonderful White Forest Gateau sundae for dessert and a decent selection of ales on draught. The full English breakfast was probably the most filling I have experienced, the portions were top drawer. Throw in the really friendly staff, a thoroughly enjoyable visit.

The mattress on the bed was a touch hard, but for one night it was not a problem.

The room was lovely. The robes and slippers were a great touch. The breakfast was included in the price and it was very nice. The staff were helpful. It was a great location for where we wanted to be. Not far from Matlock at all.

The only downside (which didn’t really affect the stay at all) was the WiFi wasn’t great in our room. We spoke to a helpful member of staff who said they would restart the router to see if that would help. We took a firestick to watch films on a night and it wouldn’t connect. We tried several times.

Really nice hotel - was expecting a smaller hotel not as well appointed. Hotel was lovely with good food

Staff were a little unattentive. The breakfast restaruant had no one to greet (so had no idea how things worked with tea/coffee, etc.) or take orders since the one person on duty was away chatting in the kitchen for protracted periods (both mornings different servers) so breakfast took a long time to be ordered and served but was great when it was served. Reception desk was unmanned for check out so cleaners had to find someone. In bar, server was distracted by friends and they were "playing about" rather than attending to other customers. It was more of an irritant than an issue but should be addressed....

This was a lovely 2 nights away with my mum, didn't know what to expect but glad we came. The rooms are immaculate, bed is so comfortable, plenty of tea and coffee even get some biscuits. Bathroom is a fab size and the shower is heaven. Staff are very polite, well mannered and smartly dressed and well go out their way to make your stay a great one. Breakfast is lovely and plenty of it to stay your day. Aye in the restaurant on the Saturday night and would highly recommend, food was hot and very tasty. I'd advice to book a we read it was best to and glad we did as it gets busy. Atmosphere is fab and the regulars are welcoming. Will be back again.

This hotel is an absolute gem. Centrally located for touring the Dales we loved everything about it. The price was excellent for a standard room - which in comparison to some we have stayed in - was not standard at all. The room was a great size, with an large bathroom, lovely toiletries and was spotlessly clean. We had a really good evening meal in the restaurant, again excellent value for money and the choice for breakfast for both continental or cooked was perfect. Our meals were well cooked, and nicely presented. Staff were very helpful.

Nothing not to like.
