Great home base for exploring Japanese countryside. New, modern facility, spacious, clean rooms, very helpful staff. Right off the highway exit ramp, in a quiet village, easy to find.

Very limited dining options. Hotel has only free tea/coffee plus some packaged foods for sale. Staff will give you info sheet about small local restaurants, but they all close early and can be hard to find. The best one is Kisami, 10 min walk just past the public bath (onsen) on the left. Opens for dinner at 5pm but it will close as soon as last customers leave, which could be well before posted 8.30pm time. Great local food and full bar! Flashing yellow light on the roof indicates that it is open for business. This hotel is not in Takayama city, it is about 40 min away by car (which is a must to have).

Quiet and clean hotel. It has the minimalist feel and room is well maintained, good size and layout is unique. Right after the highway exit, the hotel is prominent and across the road, you have onsen and dining selection. But they close early and crowded.

The bed and pillows were too soft for our liking. We do not feel getting 2 nights of good rest. If you select with breakfast, you eat at the rather small communal area, you get the same breakfast bento sets each day. Limited parking space so you park opposite across the road.

This is a really great small hotel - some might even call it luxurious. Some people would probably say that it's in the middle of nowhere, and if you're getting around via train or bus then that is probably true. However if you are hiring a car then it's quite central to lots of spots such as Shirakawa Go and Takayama, to name just a couple. We found it very convenient as we'd hired a car. In fact had we realised just how convenient it was we'd have stayed longer than the 4 nights. It's conveniently located very near to the motorway entry exit point from where you can easily travel to multiple destinations easily and quickly. Obviously toll charges will be incurred but we found them very reasonable - in fact many things we found very reasonably priced during our travels - much cheaper than expected. If you don't want to use the motorways the regular roads are excellent, not crowded at all and easy to navigate - just takes a little longer. In short this hotel is more suited to those travelling independently by car. The room was excellent [king room with king bed] and well appointed - somewhat bigger than we experienced most of our trip - clean, quiet and comfortable. Only 2 very minor complaints, being no bath and only Japanese TV to choose from on the big wall mounted screen. We tried several nearby restaurants, all very good, though one in particular was excellent - the small Japanese one hidden in behind the Onsen [not inside] run by a super friendly and helpful couple. What fun we had conversing via Google Translate while sampling their tasty sashimi and selection of various Sake - don't miss it! On our 1st night there we were picked up by another small restaurant proprietor also for a delicious multi set course meal. Everything was perfect! We did a road trip through Central Japan and the Fairfield Hotels offered us everything we needed and even more! The Fairfield here in Takayama was one of our favourites!! + rooms are spacious, well designed and equipped. We loved the bed and, the cleanness of the rooms a lot! + Location perfect to visit Kanazawa, Takayama, Hida and Kamikochi + staff was so lovely and helpful + Located next to a ricefield + free coffee and tea

Small hotel located between Sirakawa-gi and Takayama. Have parking space, friendly staff, and free coffee. Hotel has no eating facilities, so the list of eatery nearby is provided. We went to a sushi and a coffee shop, they are very friendly, food also is delicious. Clean and cosy room, comfortable bed.

The hotel is located far away from stores and supermarkt but it was worth it. When we arrived we receivied a guide with restaurants options, also they had snow tools for cleaning the car. The shower at the room was very nive and clean.

We had issues with some noise, but they changed our room as soon as possible.

Top hotel at an incredible price. We ate at a nearby restaurant, Kisami, and had the best sushi we’ve had in Japan. Staff were very helpful and spoke English. The room was big, with a comfortable bed and we had a great view of the hills. Added bonus of hearing the frogs in the rice paddies.

Modern hotel with great rooms, facilities and staff. Easy parking and while there is no restaurant there are kitchen facilities and emergency supplies available.

We ended up switching to this hotel after our one in Takayama was so bad. This felt like HEAVEN, the beds are honestly the softest and fluffiest joy to lay in. Everything about the hotel is clean and smells amazing. The staff are wonderful and make sure every comfort is met.
