Lovely old fashioned premises perfectly situated in the Sintra area for walking to superb sights and castles. Good gardens with and small but enjoyable pool and a Jacuzzi. Breakfasts were good. , Poor air conditioning system in the annexe and none in the main building which caused serious problems for others in our party. Management / owners need to upgrade their facilities and awareness of customer needs

Very Poor site Management and no one on site full time with proper authority or capability to handle problems . The remaining staff on site reported problems to management when they did arrive at strange times , but nothing was done by upper management. Poor air conditioning system in the annexe and none in the main building bedrooms which caused serious problems for others in our party, which created Management / owners need to upgrade and facilitate awareness of customer needs, Water leakage in our shower took 4 days to be reviewed. ... we were leaving next day after 5 days . Sorry to say, the stay was slightly spoilt by Management not being there or sorting things for us and others. Pity as it is a lovely place..

The hotel is located just outside of Sintra, but within easy walking distance (mind the hills) of the centre of town with some shopping, access to public transit, and restaurants. I am not sure if the hotel has rooms in the main building as we stayed in a cottage-like room located in a lower part of the property. Given the time of year, not everything was open (pool, hot-tube, etc.), but the location had a park-like atmosphere. Our room was quite small, but had everything we required (ensuite, small kitchenette, bed, wifi). Parking was access through an automatic gate with the access code provided upon check in. Breakfast was great with hot / cold choices, but as it was served in the main building you had to walk up a flight of stairs to get there (not the greatest if the weather was rainy or you have mobility issues). Still a very good stay.

The hotel has a very, very small entrance through a small gate. If possible, park outside the gate and check in. Once you've checked in, a pass code is provided to the main parking area (located in a lower part of the property, accessed via a small road just beyond the hotel).

This is a wonderfully quirky hotel/bed and breakfast. The building is a large and impressive old house, built right on the edge of a rocky slope, with impressive gates and front door. You can park briefly in front to unload, but must park lower down the hill in the rather informal parking area reached through iron gates for which a code is needed. The lane to the hotel and on to the car park is narrow between stone walls, one way and steeply down hill with tight corners. We could not turn the car outside the hotel and had to reverse out, nor could we turn in to the car park and had to reverse in and turn inside. To bring the car back to the front door is a significant journey all the way down, round and up to the top, then down again. The interior is nicely and intriguingly decorated with original features, such as the original and ill-fitting shutters in our room, the balcony outside our room (which flooded in the rain, but did not flood the room), the parrots in a cage outside the conservatory used for breakfast and the birds painted on our bedroom ceiling. Breakfast is taken in half-hour shifts and is perfectly adequate, but you may have to wait for the next batch of scrambled egg, then compete for it before it runs out again. Occasionally the lady who organises breakfast will also provide an evening meal, which needs to be ordered and selected in advance and is served by her husband in the conservatory, and paid for in cash directly to her. There is no restaurant in the conventional sense. The managers could not have been more friendly and helpful, speaking good English. The staff also friendly and helpful, but needing to use the translation app on the phone to find out what we wanted. The historical centre is about 7 or 8 minutes downhill on foot (as is the train station in a different direction). We decided to return the hire car and rely on walking locally, tuc tucs and the train for Lisbon.

We liked it overall, but don’t expect it to come up to the photographs online. It is a little shabby, seems a bit disorganised, rather informal and a little amateur, but charming for all that.

The whole hotel and property was absolutely beautiful and had a fairytale vibe. The breakfast was good too, but a bit crowded even with guests eating at different times. It was a good distance from both the historic part of town and the center with the train station, so it was easy to walk everywhere, but we usually took Ubers home, as it was mainly uphill. Overall really good value for money.

Since it's a very old building, it was very noisy and you could hear everything. The guests above us might also have been elephants, so maybe we were just unlucky.

Our host at reception was very friendly and helpful, came to our room to fix our remote and then went out of his way to find us another one when he couldn't fix it. We stayed in a villa that was huge. It had a roomy bedroom and a large sitting room/kitchen. It was a one minute walk to the main building and a really good breakfast each morning. Location was excellent. We were a 6 minute walk to to wonderful restaurants in one direction and a 7 minute walk to the old town, had had the peace and quiet of a very large garden. Plenty of parking.

Grounds were a little run down, probably because of the time of the year (early April)

The location of this nothing short than amazing guesthouse, left me in awe! I have never in all my years of travel been so welcomed and accommodated by Romulo the manager. I rescued a cat on Azores and was carrying him around Sintra. I had several days before departing back to the USA. He did everything in his power to make things easier on us. He even gave Azores a cat brush from his cat “Sushi”. I will never forget his sincerity and helpfulness. The breakfast was absolutely incredible and the building had so much character. I hope to come back to Sintra again one day and revisit. Obrigado!!🙏🙏💕

Absolutely nothing

The place is very nice, both the inside and the gaden. The place is clean and has good atmosphere. The room is very equiped. Romulo was very helpful. The breakfast was fine.

It seems they need to pay attention to the small stuff that makes the difference: Althaugh we asked to change the towels twice, they did not replace them and we had to go to the main building and do it ourselves. The hot tub wad very cold and even after they turned the hit it did not warm up. They asked for deposit for the towels. At checkout there was nobody at the reception and we had to leave the keys at the box. It would be very helpful if the box was at the car gate.

We had a great price on a very clean room with 3 comfortable beds (2 in bedroom and one in the open area) and a kitchenette. Would be great for parents with a teen or a couple with another adult. Very spacious with a modern bath. 10 minute walk to the train station to catch inexpensive (but crowded) tour buses to see the sights. Restaurants are available there or walk a bit further into town for lots more choices. The breakfast room is lovely with good food choices at the buffet. Also has parking!

We liked the house style ,the location, the view is amazing ! The people working there were really nice 😊 ! Loved the furniture in the breakfast rooms and reception! Overall, the place is amazing. We didn't have time to use the swimming pool or the jacuzzi, but it was definitely something to do if we had the time

Unfortunately, the room floor needed to be moped more often. The bathroom towels could be bigger, the shower let loads of water out ,maybe longer shower door . I expected coffee facilities in the room since breakfast has allocated times, and I do have the impression that it was described as available when we booked

This place is an old villa with garden, jacuzzi and swimming pool. It is well maintained, stylish and with a lot of character. Rooms are in the main villa, but also in the dependance. Our room on the first floor was large and equipped with everything. Staff at the reception was a bit distant at the beginning, but friendly afterwards. Breakfast happens in set slots which must be confirmed to the reception during the check-in. This is to avoid an overcrowded breakfast room and ensure a pleasant experience to the guests. Parking is available at location, reachable from a different entrance. The swimming pool area looks like a post card. Cozy and very nice. We could not use it due to foggy and rainy weather, but we would have used it if we had had a sunny day. Definitely a very nice stay.

There is no elevator. So in case of heavy luggage, you have to carry it walking up the stairs
