Karen was such a pleasure to get to know and talk with. She was so accommodating! The breakfast had everything you needed and was a great way to start your day! The location was only a 10 minute walk from Quinta de Regaleira and the palace where the Ninth Gate was filmed. I loved our room and we were in the basement! I chose it because I thought it would be quiet and cool and it definitely was! Definitely change your Google Maps to avoid stairs so it'll take you the easy way to get to the guest house. We highly recommend this wonderful place to stay!

My mom and I stayed here for two nights and had a truly wonderful experience. Everything exceeded our expectations. The staff were exceptionally friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help with anything we needed—they really made us feel at home. The location is perfect, right in the heart of Sintra, with beautiful views and easy access to the main sights. Our room was cozy, clean, spacious, and comfortable, and we especially appreciated the thoughtful little touches throughout the guesthouse—from the dehumidifier to the high-quality toiletries (shampoo, soap, etc.). Breakfast was absolutely perfect—fresh, varied, and served with care. You can tell a lot of love goes into running this place. We gave everything a 10 because they genuinely earned it. I would 100% recommend this guesthouse to anyone visiting Sintra and would love to come back one day!

The only small downside was the lack of flexibility with checkout time. In most places, a slightly later checkout is possible for a small fee, but here even an extra hour would have required booking an additional full night. That said, it’s fair to mention that they kindly allowed us to leave our luggage at the lobby and even let me work for a couple of hours in the café area after checkout, which I was very grateful for. It didn’t take away from the overall experience, but it’s something to be aware of.

The communication with the owner is excellent. The location for us was very good. It is on a side street away from the noise off the center of the Old Town. There are restaurants within walking distance. We really enjoyed the Old Town section in the evening after all the tourists left and we could wander and window shop. Karen is exceptional to go out of her way to met our needs, from explaining the bus routes to helping us secure transportation back to the airport. The staff she has are very sweet and thoughtful.

Wish we booked a larger room, but that was ok because we were gone all day. M

The staff was communicative and thoughtful - even putting a special surprise in the room to celebrate a particular event we had mentioned. The location was fantastic, in the middle of everything Sentra has to offer while still being tucked somewhat out of the way of much of the tourist traffic.

The basement suite was a little funky of a layout but well appointed and totally adequate. A couple of the doorways had low head clearance so I'd recommend folks over 6' be thoughtful about this. No AC that we were aware of so open windows and fans were the best way to keep cool in the evening.

The location in the old town was extremely convenient. Surrounded by restaurants and an easy walk to the promenade along the waterfront. The living space and kitchen were ample for 4 people and had everything we needed. The two bedrooms and two bathrooms were great for two couples. The two terraces provided great views across the rooftops to the water. Theresa was a great host who provided great information before and during our stay.

It’s a little tricky to find at first and parking can be challenging but once you get the hang of it it’s ok. One of the bedrooms is smaller and the bed is against the wall so can be difficult to get in and out of. Bed linen and pillows could be a higher quality.

It was such a nice two nights stay! The guesthouse is in couple minutes walking distance from the National Palace of Sintra but it's so conveniently located that even with opened windows no street noises can be heard. We love everything here - interestingly decorated welcoming house, nice room, comfortable beds, tasty breakfast, freshly squeezed orange juice every morning. Karen is an amazing caring host! She immediately made us feel at home and was even so kind to let us check in earlier. Thanks to her, our first days in Portugal started very pleasantly.

Charming walkout basement huge premium studio with kitchen, wonderful rain shower and kitchen. Karen and her staff were so welcoming and helpful. Karen is American and speaks perfect English.

Walking up the steps to get to the street. Dogs barking most of the night which the owner can’t control. Just be prepared with ear plugs and strong legs for all the steps, hills, and cobblestones in Sintra. It’s not a good town for people with mobility problems.

we appreciated having so much room in the apartment, with a private bathroom. The location was excellent, just steps from the town center. We are especially late chatting with the owner, who was warm and welcoming. She also put on a bountiful and delicious breakfast.

There was a bit of a musty smell in the apartment, but that was natural as it was downstairs.

Fantastic central location. Breakfast was very good - plenty of choice and very comfortable surroundings. Room (Basement Suite) more than fulfilled our needs. Staff were exceptional.

Not a lot really. There were two storms that the area had suffered badly from and that was an inconvenience as it closed the two castles i really wanted to see, namely Pena and the Moors Castle. If the storms could have not happened at all then that would have made our stay better.

Karen is a hoot. All the staff were very nice. The location is walking distance from a bunch of restaurants and the start of the trail up to the Moorish Castle and Peña Palace. Quinta dos Regaleira is a 10 min walk. The breakfast was pretty good. Our bed was comfortable and it’s on a quiet street so we slept well.

The room smelled musty/moldy. We opened the windows and ran the fan and it helped. The bathroom in particular smelled really moldy, and the bathroom vent opens into the bedroom, so it gets smelly too.
