Matador was built in 1970, a time of heavy mission brown beams, cathedral ceilings, orange shag pile carpet. It has been modernised with grey carpet under beds, sparkling new bathroom The free "continental" breakfast available in the restaurant was substantial including cereals, muesli, greek & fruit yoghurt, stewed fruit, toast, jam, cheese and cold meats, tea, coffee

we struggled with very loud heater that turned itself on and off so turned it off before sleep and the room remained warm all night. The temperature dropped to 6 degrees

Staff nice, breakfast nice, bath room seems to have been updated compared to cabinetry, we noticed it was very dark when we first walked into the room. Bed comfortable, nice towels. A small courtyard overlooking school nice sit there.

Very Squeaky door when opening the cupboard door and saw 2 spare pillows on top shelf and small fridge underneath the shelf, (funny set up...in wardrobe)Toaster and kettle sitting on top of the microwave. A shelf would be good. The very dark brown (scratched )dining room table (not a good impression), when we first arrived and no table mats found, maybe why all scratches on table. The cabinetry would look great, painted white, with splash of colour to brighten the room. Otherwise an extra nice room. Forgive me I like everything nice . Everything nice and clean. Thank you.

Very spacious room, well appointed like a boutique European villa. The whole effect is tasteful and elegant. The bed was comfortable and all the usual motel amenties were there. Fantastic bathroom, luxurious and modern. Staff at the hotel were friendly and offered a great service. Reasonable continental breakfast in the dining room included. The best thing about this motel was the quietness of the room. Then again, it was not busy on a Sunday night. Fantastic.

Breakfast could have some fresh pastries to really make it a continental breakfast, but this is nitpicking. Parking is not allocated so it is a free for all.

Metador reminded me of the parents' place warmth. Its not the most neatest (Can use a bit of cobweb/ceiling cleaning), but the furniture was old fashion, and had a free breakfast (descent!) too! Also there were welcome chocolates, drinks, and quite a warm feeling derived from all that gesture. Front desk was run by a nice lady and kitchen was by someone perhaps been doing this for ages in this place! So its like a moms and pops place as I felt. We all enjoyed it and just the right place for us in our journey. (We took the scenic route from Melbourne to Sydney). Thank you to Metador staff for making our stop over a comfy and memorable one!

Tiny bit more ceiling/flies cleaning up, including bathroom window. Would make it a bit more nicer. Plenty of parking and the ability to check-in anytime we like is a great bonus for us.

I really thought this venue was great. The staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. As I am elderly they very kindly moved me from an upstairs room to one on the ground floor. I didn’t even have to ask even although it was obvious that they had a high occupancy rate. The facilities supplied in the rooms were thoughtful and much appreciated. No tiny half used shampoo/conditioner/soap bar ecological wastefulness - sensible easily accessible and hygienic liquid pump bottles. The hotel also has a laundromat for customer use. The room allowed for you to order takeaway food from local eateries, providing cutlery, crockery fridge microwave and a small dining table. The location could not have been more convenient. The breakfast arrangements were a perfect bonus for travellers with a wide range of foods on offer. I also loved the 70’s Spanish style dining room - a step back in time with none of the tired weariness you would expect - because the cleanliness was notably excellent. I kept wishing it would expand its service - Sale could certainly use a fabulous Tapas venue - and this would be the perfect space. I even checked the restaurant toilets and they were immaculate. I would highly recommend it as an unusual iconic venue in its own right, where a great deal of thought has gone into keeping the service an enjoyable experience for its customers.

I wish I had booked in fir a week instead of just one night!

The balcony, the brekky, the receptionist Barbara and the proximity to everything we needed.

A neighbour took a video call at 10pm and I could hear her and the guy on the other end of the line loud and clear. Maybe her room didn't have information about being kind and staying quiet and respectful after dark, but we were given lots of helpful information including something along the lines of "by all means go out and party but please be quiet when you come back" and to me that would logically extend to taking a loud call at night, but perhaps not to all humanity.

It's very clean, and the breakfast provided is quite convenient. The location is also good.

The showerhead screw is loose and can only point towards the wall. This is very inconvenient for my 5-year-old child as she has to get close to the wall to take a shower. However, there is a very sharp soap dish installed on the wall, right at her eye level, so I have to remind her to be careful. The next morning, I reported the showerhead issue to the front desk, and to my surprise, they were aware of the problem but still assigned the room to me. Based on the parking situation, I knew the hotel should have other available rooms.

The breakfast was fantastic. When I saw 'continental breakfast included' I assumed it would be what is common in country motels - a cereal packet, bread and instant coffee on a table in the room, milk and orange juice in the bar fridge. NO - it was a magnificent buffet breakfast with cold meats, cereal choices, many different breads, muffins, good coffee and tea, choice of juices. Highly appreciated.

It was all very good indeed - maybe the door locks on the room need a bit of TLC.

The location is great. The bed was very comfortable. Continental breakfast was convenient and appreciated. I like the drive to remove single use plastics as well.

I really missed having an armchair of some sort. There were 3 HARD wooden chairs at the table but no where comfortable to sit. Lighting was very dim and discombobulating. A bare bulb with a wire “shade” right above the television did not make for a pleasant viewing experience. It would be good for reverse in parking to be banned so that exhaust fumes are not directed towards rooms on the ground floor. Sound proofing is poor. I could hear the people in the room beside switch their lights on and off - as well as conversation.

Loved the family room. It was very spacious, clean, and comfortable. Loved the little chocolates in the fridge when we arrived and the 2 glasses that were nice and cold - thank you 😊. The pool was so beautiful to swim in! It was clean and the perfect temperature. The breakfast in the morning was also a delight, the location is perfect and only a 2 minute walk to the main shops. Myself, husband, and children loved staying here and will definitely be back!

N/A - we loved everything at The Matador.
