I stayed here while walking the Camino de Santiago. The location is very convenient, a short distance from the end of the bridge.....if you haven't walked across the bridge this comment won't mean much to you. If you have walked across it, I doubt you will forget it any time soon!! The room I slept in had two bunk beds but there were only two of us in the room. Sheets, towels and a quilt are provided. Breakfast starts at 8:00, and includes everything you expect in a continental breakfast. Overall it was great value for the cost.

The hostel has some 'wear and tear'. For example the soap dispensers in the ladies restroom are broken. BUT it's a youth hostel, what do you expect?

This is the only hostel I use when I stay in the North of Portugal. Patricia....Andre....Carlos and the rest of the staff are always so helpful... There is no mixed accomodation here so I would also recommend that this is a safer place for the ladies to stay... The facilities are also excellent... You also get a wonderful free breakfast in the morning which is not the case in many hostels in Portugal... The bedrooms and bathrooms are always clean to a good standard.... For me....it's like a home from home.. You are only about 400 metres from the beach also.... If you are staying in Vila do Conde or Povoa do Varzim... This is the only place to stay if you are a solo traveller.... I have being staying here now for over five years and I love it... Will return again soon...🙂💚❤️

To be honest... There is nothing not to like... It's an amazing place for what they charge you..

I very much appreciated this hostel. It seemed very clean and well organized. There was a place to wash your clothes in a big tub and hang them outside. Although everything was still damp in the morning so I had to hang it outside my pack while I walked. No problem as it was a sunny day the next day. I stayed in a room that had three bunkbeds, six people. One person snored very loudly so I did not get much sleep, but that of course is not the hostel’s fault. Remember that you need to have your card in the slot at the door if you want to use the electrical sockets. It took me a while to figure that out. The bathroom and towels were well attended to. Although the shower area is separated into genders, I did notice that there’s not a lot of privacy, including glass doors. So if someone requires privacy, he or she might have to choose to have their shower at an unusual time. The beds were comfortable and had an extra quilt. There were lockers to put your individual items in. There were several restaurants close by to have an evening meal. I noticed there was a kitchen to cook your own meal, but I did not use that so I can’t comment too much. The best part of this hostel was the breakfast! Wow, a lot of variety! And because food always brings people together, it was awesome to have breakfast and talk to other pilgrims about their journey. There was also many open spaces if you needed to do some stretching or reading while you were waiting for things to recharge. And there seemed to be someone at the desk available for your questions at all times. All in all a very good place.

If this place was a 10 out of 10, wanting to strive for an 11 out of 10, I might suggest a little light and socket at each bed? It seems to be an ongoing issue to keep my phone/earbuds/power pack charged enough. So if I can do that overnight, it’s helpful. I can already hear my daughter saying, “mom, first-world problems!”

Everything was fantastic! From the outside, you’d never guess it’s a youth hostel - it’s a beautifully renovated historical building with a modern, well-thought-out design. The shared bunk room was comfortable, and the shower facilities were spotless. The complimentary breakfast was just right, and the sunny, spacious breakfast room made it even better. The location is central: just 2 minutes on foot to a laundromat, 10 minutes to Lidl, and only 5 minutes to the coast. It was the perfect stop for our Camiño Portugués Litoral route. My daughter loved the place so much, she’s already talking about coming back with her friends for a holiday!

The staff are incredibly friendly and the rooms are very clean. I also like that the bathroom was very large. I forgot my watch there and didn’t realize it until I was about an hour away. I sent them a message on WhatsApp and they found it and sent it to me to my next destination. They went above and beyond!

The property was really nice overall. I just prefer private suites to sharing a room with multiple people. That’s just my own preference, but for those who don’t mind hearing other people going in and out and snoring at night, this is a great choice.

Thank goodness I'd made a reservation, as it was fully booked by the time I arrived, and other pilgrims were being turned away. The all female dorm with lockers and plenty of room to organize my things; the lovely kitchen, dining, and living room areas were spacious and enjoyable; the modern twist on a beautiful old building; well done!

When I asked about a place nearby to buy groceries, I was directed to a very expensive wine bar and specialty food item boutique store just a couple of doors down, whereas I learned subsequently that there was a much less expensive and open grocery store within a ten minute walk. It was difficult to find a simple place to eat and grab a beer nearby after a difficult day of trudging through the sand and more rickety boardwalk than expected, so the location was a bit limiting for me. I'd still stay there in the future, but would be better prepared, having mapped out the more affordable grocery store in advance.

Very clean. Comfortable dorm and bed. Towels/sheets/pillows/blankets provided. Not at all far from the Camino! Very close to food options. Lockers were spacious and easy to access (you need to request a key if you want to lock the locker, they ask a 5€ deposit for the key that you get back when you check out). Breakfast was included and had good variety.

The showers had no shelf or hook where you could place a towel/shower supplies. There were no outlets near top bunks so charging my phone was a little difficult. No place to wash/hang laundry and laundry did not dry over night because dorm room was humid.

Beautiful place. Attendenta at the desk for wonderful and helpful. It's a huge space, everything is new and clean. Common spaces include a TV area separate from a library area separate from a dining area. Vending machine with affordable and healthy snacks. Tea available in the kitchen. I slept in an all female room where there were eight beds. Lockers were roomy and safe.

No light in my bunk area. No plugs in my bunk area. Had to charge my stuff on a shelf above the lockers. Overhead light needs your room key to stay on. If I would change anything I would just have lights and sockets available at each bunk.

Great service at the reception desk. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was nice, especially the quality of the cappuccino from the machine was so good

Showers are fitted with timed push button taps that barely last for even 30 seconds. Had to keep pressing the tap push button as the shower stopped every 20 seconds or so. The water was not hot but warm. Would have liked it hotter, especially after a long Camino walk, the muscles needed some real heat.

Lovely big rooms with lockers for the bags. Lovely big dining area and kitchen use. Huge lounging spaces and lovely exterior of the building. Perfect breakfast included.

The bathrooms had only one of the two door panels on each shower covered meaning you can see all the way through. This was compensated by having a shower curtain across the shower area but it still meant everyone can see into the shower space who is inside the shower room. None of the power outlets worked within the room.
