Great location, within minutes walking to the vibrant historic main square and the assorted colorful streets. Our host was extremely kind and helpful in every way. The delicious house made, heart shaped chocolates given as a welcome gift were also available for purchase at the front desk, which we bought and are still savoring! The bed was a little too firm for our personal comfort, but that is subjective. The spacious room felt like we'd gone back in time (in a great way) in this beautifully restored antique building. The elegantly served breakfast was presented with such old world charm. The experience felt rich in history, transportive and authentic. Absolutely lovely. Would highly recommend.

The location of this hotel is within easy walking distance to the tourist area. The host was very friendly and helpful. There are chairs in the room to sit in. Spacious bathroom. Everything looked clean. Excellent breakfast. We had duck confit which was a rare breakfast offering. But we were very happy to have it. We highly recommend this place.

The room across the hallway had their main light on all night which shone through the windows above their door and ours which made our room very bright all night.

A charming boutique hotel in an ideal location a couple of minutes' walk from the Black Church and another minute to the main square with its bars and restaurants. Our room – furnished in 'art deco' style – was pleasantly 'quirky', spacious and comfortable - as was the bed. The proprietress was most hospitable and provided an excellent breakfast with plenty of menu options. Being able to park right outside at very modest cost was most welcome – it's worth phoning ahead to request that a space be reserved if possible. Excellent all round.

Cannot say enough about how perfect this place is. We stayed for two nights. First, the location is as central as you could want, but still peaceful and quiet for sleeping. We had a rental car and the manager saved us a spot right outside the front door, with a small charge for day (equivalent of a few euro). Check in was simple and the manager gave us a welcome shot of wine/port(?) which was a nice touch. Our room was spacious, very antique with a large bed, plenty of amenities, and a huge en-suite with modern shower (the only modern thing in the room) and a large antique bath. There was also air-con which was needed as we stayed during a heatwave. We found this to be an exception across Romania as a lot of other hotels didn’t have air-con.

Absolutely outstanding stay in this boutique hotel and worldwide we haven’t stayed anywhere better. Perfectly situated on Poarta Schei street in the old town and within easy walking distance of all Brasov attractions. A great base for touring castles snd fortresses. There are only 3 rooms and we stayed in the onyx room (superior double) at front which had large bedroom with sitting area and a fabulous bathroom with unique shower cabinet. Gorgeous antique and quirky furnishings and super comfy beds for a great nights sleep Breakfast was fabulous, well worth the money and set us up for the day- try the Vila Katharina breakfast with 2 duck legs, caramelised onions and a glass of Prosecco! Satine the receptionist was brilliant, friendly and professional- arranged a great tour, taxi and laundry service. If you have mobility issues note that there’s no lift and the stairs are quite steep to rooms. Not far from Brasov train station ( we were inter-railing and arrived on night train from Budapest) but needs a taxi to the hotel - agree on price first if not a metered taxi and expect to pay about 20-25 Lei ( not 50 Lei that one driver asked for- there’s about 5 Lei to 1 Euro). Bus is cheaper but we couldn’t work out bus route/ signage. Taxi back from hotel to station was only 17 Lei but expect tourist prices if you’re new in town!

Everything really was perfect

This is the most carefully designed boutique hotel I have ever stayed in! The aesthetic and attention to detail are for the truly discerning femme. It’s a historic townhouse next to the Poarta Schei that calls back to Austro-Hungarian empire glory with modern design touches, and a lovely little jewelry store downstairs which offers a discount to guests. Our room (the Onyx suite) had a flawless, original art deco bedroom furniture set, velvet curtains, and a deep standalone bathtub. We felt truly at home and as if in a palace at the same time. The street view was lovely and with the windows closed it was perfectly quiet. Don’t miss the wonderful a la carte breakfast service, especially the Russian breakfast! The careful aesthetic continues into the sitting room and breakfast experience. The car parking right out front was also a lifesaver. It’s a very small hotel with very personal service and always a lovely, friendly, helpful lady in the lobby if you need anything. We can’t wait to return!

Absolutely nothing. Everything is very thoughtful. The Wi-Fi might not always be reliable enough for working remotely, but they have clearly tried to mitigate that with multiple networks around the property.

The hotel is totally amazing! It has it's own parking and this is really megacomfortable in car-crowded Brasov city! During check-in we got enough compliments from the hotel (especially delicious berries liqour). The room was spacious, clean and warmy. Nice interior, wonderful bathroom with both cabin and very comfortable bathtub. The breakfast was amazing because of tasty dishes and friendly staff. We ordered in the evening three different breakfast options and were totally right, because each of them has its own positive moments. Also you can construct your own breakfast from various menu positions. The hotel is 3 minutes by feet from the very center of the city (the Black Church). Thanks to all the hotel staff, we liked it so much!

It is not related to the hotel, but the trip from the Bucharest to Brasov (about 180 km) was extremely exhaustive and lasted more than 5 hours (but we persistently advise by the way to visit "ETU Pizza and Grill" petroleum station near Breaza - to make a trip more pleasant and to have a tasty dinner!).

Vila Katharina blew us away, we weren't expecting such a boutique experience but it didn't disappoint. The rooms are incredible with heaps of history and attention to detail, the staff were lovely and very helpful too. You couldn't choose a more perfect location, 2 minutes walk from the Black Church and main square beyond yet off the main busy tourist streets so much calmer.

Gorgeous big room, with lovely furnishings and decoration. Parking is on the street, the hotel do have a few spots reserved but failing that there was much more street parking near by - hotel charge 25lei a day parking which is the same as the rest of the steet parking. Breakfast options were provided on a menu and we had to select the evening before what we wanted to have - there were nice choices. Location couldn't be better.

Shower didn't really suit the vibe of the room, but still a good shower.
