Staff, John, Amanda and Chuck were amazing. Very professional and offered advice about where to eat. Loved being in a historic house. Everything we went to was in walking distance (The Egg and restaurants). We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back again for the next show at the Egg.
No fault AT ALL to the Morgan State House (I mean you are in a historic home) but, be prepared if you book the artist studio on the 4th floor, to walk 4 flights of stairs. They are very honest about this in the booking, so if you struggle with stairs, choose a room on the 2nd floor.

The Morgan State House Inn is a beautiful gem in the heart of downtown Albany. The inn is lovingly kept, with mahogany floors and stairs, decorated thoughtfully, and a warm and welcoming staff. The rooms are stunning. I especially loved the suite I stayed in which had its own private library off of the bedroom, in addition to a small dressing room off of the bathroom. The bed and bedding were luxuriously comfortable. Continental breakfast was simple and self serve but perfectly fine (coffee, tea, muffins, cereal). A lovely place to stay if in Albany for business, and would also make a perfect romantic getaway stay location.
The only part of the stay that was not lovely was that both mornings that I stayed, I had planned to sleep in till around 9am but it was impossible because starting at 6:30am thee were other guests downstairs having a rollicking time talking and laughing with each other and the morning staff. Perhaps they were trying to be quiet but the sounds echo loudly through such an old home. In any case, the group was so loud, and kept it up for so long, that both mornings their noise woke me up and kept me up. So, if you do stay at this Inn and plan to sleep past 7am I would highly recommend packing some ear plugs. Otherwise, everything was five stars.

Room in architectural landmarked building, (my room was in Morgan State House Annex, 399 State Street), with beautifully appointed furniture, and gorgeous wall hangings, carpet, and plenty of drawer and closet space. Television, radiator, ceiling fan, radio, sound machine (who knew?) all in great working order. Bedding lovely, bed quite comfortable, and bathroom clean and neat.
Better value for a couple, and perhaps longer stay, given the efficiency kitchen, comfortable armchairs, and lovely living/room in main building, 393 State Street, which I had no time to really use.

We loved the Morgan State House. It was our first visit to Albany and the staff and owner made us feel very welcome from the moment we arrived till our departure. We loved being in a historic building that has been so lovingly maintained. Our room was very spacious which made us feel like royalty. Janine and Leo helped us to decide where to dine. The location is close to the capital and other landmarks as well as the very charming Lark Street with all its wonderful restaurants and shops. We also loved that it was across the street from Washington Park which we took a nice walk before heading to the airport.
It was wonderful. Loved it all.

Built in 1884, the building is old-school regal and well kept. We were in the large, lovely Artist's Loft on the top floor, so we were so glad we we had packed lightly and were wearing comfortable shoes as we (senior citizens) climbed the 3 flights. The building is in a very walkable neighborhood and loved our incredible breakfast at the nearby Iron Gate Cafe.
1. The stairs 2. The hot water took a long time to heat up but it finally did. 3. The TV could have been larger, but it was ok. 4. The "continental breakfast" was simply a serve- yourself from the refrigerator situation and Keurig coffee. The fresh muffins were quite good tho'.

Chuck, the owner, greeted us and made us feel at home from the start. The kitchen and dining spaces are very homey and comfortable. Our room on the second floor was spacious, beautifully decorated and appointed, and such cozy pillows and bedding it was one of the best nights sleep I've had away from home since I can remember. We ended up checking in a bit early and left to go see the capital building (a few blocks away). We really appreciated all of the recommendations Chuck gave us for a smoothie for lunch and options for dinner within a few blocks walking distance. We had a fabulous dinner at Dove + Deer just two blocks down the street. Thanks Chuck for all of your hospitality! Everything was wonderful and our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer. We'll just have to come back!

Excellent location near a park. Easy access to restaurants, cafes, and public transportation. The room was clean and comfortable. The owner was a great host who greeted us immediately upon arrival. He was easy to talk to, very friendly, and had a lot of insight about the building's history. Seeing the historical documents and photographs of the building gave me a greater appreciation of the venue.
There were a few self-service breakfast options (do-it-yourself, DIY options). However, I would have appreciated a full English breakfast being offered in the morning instead of the self-service breakfast option, which I could not utilize due to the tight time constraint in my schedule, which I had no control over.

The room was very nice and clean and the bed super comfortable. Garden beautiful. Location was perfect. I loved the historical information around the property. I felt safe in the area and would definitely recommend to anyone traveling in the area.
Check in was a bit confusing and many different keys. Perhaps label the front door for registration a little better and at some point update the old school keys to cards or maybe a key code lock? Provide better instructions once someone books? Also the breakfast left a lot to be desired for what I thought would be a bit more "polished" according to the website. We were told, help yourself and cook eggs if you want them. Would of been nice to come to the kitchen to someone there cooking or at least some hot options available to make a plate like bacon, eggs, maybe a pot of oatmeal or pancakes? We ended up going out for breakfast.

The very charming and relaxing house, with tasteful furniture and plenty of common areas to enjoy. The location, walking distance from many places where to eat and just in front of a park. The spacious room and bathroom, old style but with all what was needed to be functional. The availability of a secure parking area, at the moderate fee of 10$/night. The kindness and warmth of the owners/managers, Chuck and Janine, always ready to get out of their way to help.

The room was comfortable, spacious, well laid out. The kitchenette was all we required as we had our main meal at a nearby restaurant. There was a great selection of fruit, cereals, bagels, cake etc for the self serve breakfast, all well laid out. We had never been to Albany prior to this visit, and we only stopped there for one night in order to catch the train to Niagara the next day. It’s a shame we didn’t have more time to explore the area and city.
Nothing to dislike.
