Apart of all facilities at the Hotel I find Hotel lobby and restaurant as one of the best places to relax, enjoy or even work. There is many various spots where You can find some privacy or enjoy fireplace etc. I find restaurant food/staff brilliant. Food comes quick and is done as it should be (Had sirloin steak, chicken tempura - all perfect). Rooms are clean and spacious, bathroom fittings a little dated but still perfectly functional. Comfy bed (a little on the firm side). I have visited this hotel many times across two years and always like to comeback here.
nothing worth mentioning

Friendly staff and good food. Carol, assistant manager is particularly great. Always smiling and welcoming.
Nothing really, we stay often even though we live 10minutes away. It's a wee retreat for us away from everything and we feel it's good value for money and affordable. We booked last night when we were staying in January and we've booked to stay again in April and experience the soul afternoon. The only small complaint is that the budget rooms lack good lamps and always seem to be missing a bedside table at one side and have a headboard too big for the bed. However the rooms are warm and comfortable so not a huge issue for us.

Travelled with partner and a dog so had booked the dog friendly room. There are very strict rules about the dog which were set out really clearly at time of booking and none caused a problem. The room was spotless with lino flooring which is good if there are muddy paws. It was a long way from reception but ther side doors were open for quick walkies. The food was really great, because of the dog we could not eat in the restaurant but there was plenty of space in the lounge and they had very nice booths. Eating in the bar meant a shorter menu but i had fantastic tapas and my husband had a tasty pizza. It was a bit more awkward getting breakfast in the morning, again we were in the bar but getting breakfast required trooping back an forth with items (no trays) so i couldnt say it was leisurely and relaxing but the food was excellent.
Check in was very late by modern standards 3pm wheras I'm used to noon or 1pm.

This is a beautiful and welcoming Hotel. The breakfast is fabulous with plenty variety. The evening dinner is also very good and plenty to choose. The atmosphere in this hotel especially in the evening is very relaxing.
Unfortunately we were in a room this time across from the laundry which I have to say is very very noisy so early in the morning. The laundry staff play very loud music so early and I feel all the cleaning staff forget there are guests in these bedrooms. I feel these rooms are more for a 1 night only and definitely not for guests who are staying more than 1 night. The staff stand outside the door talking and as for the laundry trolleys being pushed and pulled around on the floor constantly are so loud there is no chance of a lie in if that’s what you fancied. This is the only down fall in this hotel. We have always had a very relaxing holiday but having a room across from the laundry kind of spoiled this holiday.

The room was warm, welcoming and clean. The beds were comfortable and bedding clean. Nice to have an actual bath in the bathroom with a shower over the bath. All the staff we met were lovely and very friendly - nothing was too much bother.
The furniture in our room (120) was very tired (varnish worn off the dressing table/drawers) and an actual drawer front was so distorted, it wouldn't close properly. Unfortunately, these let the presentation of the room down. Bathroom could do with being updated, especially the shower. My arthritic mother had great trouble in trying to turn the shower on, the dial was so stiff. Shower was clean but it's so old that the white fittings are now yellow. Also I noticed, when having a bath, that there was black mould underneath the soap dish. The carpet in the hallway (by the fire doors) was loose and would be a trip hazard - I did point this out to a chambermaid, but nothing was done about it during our stay.

A really lovely hotel, everyone is friendly and helpful. Very clean and lots of fluffy towels. The restaurant has a good menu and lots of seating to relax in after your meal. The bar is well stocked and the service is great.
The walls are really thin and you can hear 'everything' your neighbours are doing, saying and watching on the TV. The breakfast is good if you get there at a quieter time, but if you time it badly, the food, water, tea, coffee etc are snapped up quickly and you have a wait for replacements. Obviously, this does mean everything is lovely and fresh.

Rooms where ok very stained carpets and old furniture and very old showers hot water was hit or miss rooms definitely need up dating for the amount you pay to stay each night reception , bar and restaurant have been up dated and the room just let that standard down and way to price for that experience Had to ask for Frye’s eggs at breakfast as there was only scrambled for the 4 days we stay and was told most day it would take 20 minutes to make got someone last day because we where up early than the coaches of people that stay nightly
Asking for fried eggs coffee was cold

The hotel its self is lovely inside the reception area and bar / restaurant
The room was dated and no walk in shower which I need due to mobility. My food usually is good but the fajitas I got had 2 little slice of peppers and was under seasoned. Was just like normal chicken really. Was disappointing. The breakfast was OK but so disorganised. Got told to be seated and someone would come set table ....they didn't, we had to ask. Then we got the buffet.coffee was poor as was breakfast tbh. A wedding was on so feel maybe it was just too busy for staff to deal with

Had a brilliant stay. The room was lovely and the bed was very comfortable. The staff was lovely and helpful and the food was so good. The hotel is beautiful, and we will definitely be back.
It says on the paper work in the room that we were ment to have a phone if we needed help from reception or if we wanted room service but we didn't have a phone and our room was right at the end of the building so it would of been helpful to have that specificly because you are offering they services.
