Overall the food was very good BUT the seasonal vegetables were served raw. Not Al Dente but rock solid RAW. The only way to eat them ...carrots and calabrese and green beans was to pick them up and crunch them. We asked every night for them to be cooked a little longer to no avail. We gave up the 4th night and had the side salad instead. The retail manager agreed with us, the veg were RAW , but there was no improvement. Will someone PLEASE talk to the chef? The staff were excellent, the atmosphere also excellent, the room size and decor was excellent.

The raw seasonal veg! We did have to ask for several items...eg tea, coffee, a kettle, missing towels, the phone needed new batteries, .light bulbs.... .lots of things, but our needs were attended to very quickly. The modern art abstract paintings did not suit the rest of the decor. The two disabled spaces were occupied by non disabled badge vehicles.Despite its failings we would stay again.

The Hotel emits quality from the moment you see it from the outside and when you step inside. Very luxuriously appointed fixtures and furnishings. The staff were friendly and professional especially in the restaurant. The menu choice was very good. We chose a rib eye steak for our evening meal and it ranked as one of the best we have ever had. Breakfast was of the same high quality. Serving portions were generous. We would return.

The one drawback to our room was the Hotels air conditioning equipment operating below our bedroom window. Double glazing would reduce the sound. There was no air conditioning in the bedroom.

Room was large, comfortable and warm. Great shower, internet and TV. Slept well. Breakfast in the main was self service buffet style which personally I dislike, but this was reasonably good, spoiled only by luke warm water for tea in dispenser. Had to ask for freshly boiled water which was served in a teapot. (Tea as it should be!) Dinner was described by my wife as excellent (Salmon and Leek) I rated my Dinner as Good (Filet Steak Stroganoff) Really appreciated free parking and free overnight charging for EV. (5 star.....)

Didn't stay long enough...but will be back in a couple of weeks.

warm, clean, good powerful and warm shower and not far from town centre

shower was good but shower head and soap holder was dirty and outdated and loose and not very secure, tiles badly replaced and cold water came out roasting, had to run it for a bit to eventually get cold, no WIFI although advertised, bed was big and comfortable but was 2 singles pushed together and the split sometimes became awkward, and toilet seat was right next to the towel holder which became an awkward seating position .

The hotel and grounds were lovely, an amazing situation directly next to the racecourse. The restaurant was well staffed with attentive and friendly waiters, fantastic food, drinks and a relaxing bar lounge to head to after with our drinks. Our courtyard room although basic, was very clean, stocked with toiletries, towels, robe and slippers. A table and two comfy chairs were ideal for relaxing and for enjoying the breakfast served to our room. Ideal overlooking the racecourse and we had a super comfortable sleep. Overall a wonderful stay!

There was nothing negative, although we didn't see a lift for accessing the first floor courtyard rooms, which would have been handy for getting upstairs with the suitcases.

I liked the old house, Western House,it's beautiful and comfortable:lobby, restaurant and ballroom there. The staff looked after me well and my niece and nephew. We had my niece's Birthday there. The car park is spacious. The room in the courtyard is spacious, I liked it. It's quiet. I like the table service for breakfast.I like the garden and the room was warm as it should be in winter.

The shower water was too hot, there are signs saying so. I had to have a bath instead of a shower. The taps of the bassin are very old. There were some small wear and tear signs (scuffed woodwork and mark on the bed surround)in the room which didn't bother me as the courtyard building is not new. I would still like to stay at the Western House Hotel again.

lovely big room - lovely big windows and lovely shower en suite - clean and comfortable bed

I was cold on arrival and electric radiator would not switch on and cold when sleeping and the quilt would not move up to cover me as it was tucked in to hold the world!! We had a big heavy case to lug up to the second floor with no lift in our sixties celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary so we were sucking air from wales by the time we reached the top!! Breakfast was a massive disappointment - buffet style and not nice - wouldn’t recommend breakfast!

This hotel is a diamond in the rough, what a find! Surrounded by beautiful grounds as well as Ayr racecourse. It absolutely oozes luxury and quality. My cousin and I booked this for one of our many getaways for shopping. This was a Christmas trip. (The shopping centre in Ayr is abysmal! Mostly boarded up shops... some of the charity shops were even closed down. We had more success with our Xmas shopping in the massive Tesco nearby!) But just along the road heading towards Prestwick, there is a good retail park (Heathfield) and only a couple of miles away (if that) is Prestwick, which has a few quaint local independent shops. It's a wee delight. So, if you're looking to get away for a well-earned rest, this hotel is fabulous. The food is fantastic and very, very reasonably priced. It's so beautiful and great quality. The hotel also holds weddings. We walked round the grounds and we both agreed, it would be like having a fairy tale wedding in there. The staff were lovely and nothing was too much trouble. They would all take time out for a wee chat, no need to feel you were in the way. .

These are so pretty that they don't define the stay at all... ●Morning coffee at breakfast was our main problem. On day 1, my coffee was in a pot, and my cousin's tea was the same. Both were cold. We weren't too bothered by it and drank it all the same. I'm sure if we'd complained, they would have gone and gotten us fresh pots. On day 2, we had a breakfast buffet. The coffee was roasting hot, but it cooled so fast. If we'd complained on day 1, we'd have found that out! ● Oh and the phone charging points could've been closer to the bed. Although I understand that it's not good for you to sleep so close to electric equipment. So it's common sense that it is away from you, but the choice would've been good.

This is a lovely hotel with beautiful gardens and extremely helpful staff. We stayed the night here to break the journey on the way to the ferry the next morning. The bed was extremely comfortable. We were provided with a kettle and tea and coffee and a bottle of water. Fresh milk and ice were avaialble on request and were provided extremly quickly when we requested them. We had a delicious breakfast buffet, the staff at breakfast were extremely helpful. One waitress filled my chilli's bottle with ice cold water and asked me to check that I was happy with the temperature. We hope to return in future.

We had a downstairs room in the annexe which was fine. We would have liked a net curtain or venetian blinds to protect us from the view of people walking past. There was only a powerpoint on one side of the bed. The pillowcases could be better, they didn't properly cover the end of the pillow.

My partner and myself stayed at western house hotel to attend the races at New Year and we both agree it was out favourite hotel stay yet. The location of the hotel was perfect for our plans but the service of the hotel was what really made our stay. We were able to check in a few hours earlier than expected which was brilliant as we could relax before we went over to the races and our room was spotless. When we ordered some room service we could not believe how quickly the staff got to our request. We also had an evening meal in the hotel and the serving staff were absolutely outstanding and the meal was delicious. We would definitely stay here again. Thank you to all the staff at the hotel for making our stay so enjoyable and memorable.
