Very comfortable bedroom (room 8, overlooking the Church) - upstairs room with a couple of flights of stairs (there are ground floor rooms available, apparently, so enquire about those if you have mobility issues..). Well appointed bathroom with a large shower cubicle (which for once didn’t leak all over the floor..!) and great water pressure and temperature (I HATE showers where you have to run around in order to get wet...!). Large screen TV (we didn’t use it - try to avoid TV when we’re on a break...), the usual tea & coffee making facilities. Quiet location, on a one-way street near the centre of Bridgwater. Very helpful and friendly staff (thanks Daniel..👍!). Good choices for breakfast, including cereal, juices, yoghurts and fruit, with a cooked breakfast also available. The restaurant also has a good choice of evening meals on their menu, but there are several supermarkets nearby and also several pubs within easy walking distance so you don’t have to drive if you don’t want to eat at the property.

Only slight downside was the parking at the property - very small car park, with a very narrow entrance/exit (they recommend you reverse in...) and if you aren’t lucky enough to get a space (we were, fortunately...) you have to park on the road outside the property, but if no spaces there either you have to park in a nearby chargeable car park (you’re reimbursed for the cost) and walk back to the property which could be awkward if you have mobility problems or luggage.

What an amazing place, the owners are friendly and approachable. Their dog, Penny, is a lovely French bulldog cross, a little bit nippy, but not malicious. The chef, the housekeeping team, and the front of house staff are super attentive. They are the most helpful staff I have come across, and I've travelled quite a bit for work. Food may seem a bit pricey, but you are paying for the quality, which is exemplary. Breakfast is literally whatever you want, I always ask for two runny fried eggs, and that's exactly what I got, along with all the trimmings I was more embarrassed that I couldn't eat all of it. I wouldn't hesitate to go here again, and I will go back soon. Oh, they even paid attention to my name from the original booking, which, in my opinion is a great way to welcome your guests to a place which is loved by the owners, the staff, and clearly from my opinion the clientele. Don't miss out, book this place, just don't book it when I want to go back.

There is Nothing not to like about this wonderful gem.

Everything from start to finish, the checking in went smoothly and the staff couldn't be more helpful. Due to location, the car parking can be tight but still had plenty of spaces for the length of stay. The room was gorgeous and very nicely decorated. Also, the room was spotless, including the ensuite. Excellent breakfast both mornings and the staff were so courteous and helpful nothing was a bother for them. On leaving, we thanked the staff for everything they had done and let them know that we would be returning without a doubt. Loved the stay ❤️

Wouldn't be able to say a negative about the place and staff. The overall stay was second to none.

Visited the old vicarage recently. Quaint quirky place. Has all the pros and cons you'd expect from a 400yr old property, creaky stairs and traditional fire places absolutely stuffed with interesting features, but for me the thing that sets this apart from other places were the staff. They felt genuinely happy to help and the service was impeccable! Food was very good quality and real value for money too. I do not hesitate to recommend this location and will definitely be staying there again. Well done all!

Genuinely great stay with traditional rooms and features, I do wonder if some of the quirkyness so strongly showcased downstairs could be transferred upstairs too the rooms too but absolutely no complaints!

What a beautiful little place! Right in the heart of Bridgwater, full of character, fantastic and helpful staff, warm and cosy room, clean, feels like a home from home. Free parking (takes some getting into a space mind - not for anyone who struggles to manouvre), beautiful garden for a sunny day, breakfast is fantastic (wish I'd have booked a table for dinner too). Great value compared to others in the same price bracket in the area.

The TV in the room I stayed in needs some attention - it reset every time it was turned off so you had to keep scanning for available channels, and the signal isn't good so I missed 5-10 minutes of films every so often. Shame it wasn't connected to the Internet so I could watch what I wanted uninterrupted. Also, whoever was staying downstairs from my room was very noisy and made a habit of slamming their door continually during the day and night. I'm a light sleeper and it woke me up several times. Perhaps some door closers would help to stop this?

Staff were all very friendly. Restaurant and breakfast rooms are very tastefully decorated with some cosy areas to sit in too. Bedroom had everything you needed in it, comfy bed and nice white crisp linen, very clean. Radiators had thermostat controls so you didn't get too hot. Good selection of food choices for breakfast including a very nice cooked full English. Hotel perfectly situated in the town centre, our bedroom tucked in around the back so we had no problem with noise. Lovely to hear the church bells ringing on Sunday morning as the hotel is opposite St Mary's church.

Carpark behind the hotel was a bit tight for our 4x4, however plenty of parking available out on the road outside the hotel, free after 6pm and free all day Sunday, so not a problem.

Where do I start, from arrival to departure everything was 1st class. The staff were friendly and nothing was a bother to them,we had a meal in restaurant and top marks to the chief. Our room was spotless and the bed was so comfortable with unsuite. The breakfast was 1st class. We had our dog with us and she was made as welcome as us.Our room was away from the main hotel and had a small courtyard which was great for the dog. There was a dog blanket, doggie treat and a poo bag plus a wee map for walking doggie.

Couldn't find anything to dislike.

Beautiful hotel and restaurant. Great food and plenty of choices. Room was lovely, peaceful and had all the facilities you could need. Managed to get a parking space each night of my stay , can get a bit tight when all spaces are full in the courtyard but managed easily myself. Perfect location for the course I was attending in the week and close to shops, etc and a nice walk along the river/canal. Staff were spot on and very helpful at all times, even the newer staff who were learning the trade, everyone was friendly and happy to help with anything I needed.

Mattress could have done with an upgrade or a topper to have been properly comfortable but the bedding was nice and good choice of pillows.

I arrived around 1530 and after a smooth check-in, I enjoyed an excellent Sunday Roast. Beef was served with all the trimmings, Yorkshire Pud, Roast potatoes, extra gravy and a generous selection of vegetables including Broccoli, Carrots, Parsnips, Swede, and Cauliflower cheese. Very good value at £15. Rosie provided helpful, friendly, and efficient service.

Foccacia and Olive oil / Balsamic was offered as a 'while you wait' starter but is a little overpriced at £5.50. In many restaurants, bread & butter/olive oil is often included in the cover charge. The focaccia was homemade but was just a little dry and slightly disappointing at that price point.

The property was amazing, constructed from several houses which had been joined over centuries. The decor of the bar and restaurant complemented the age of the Old Vicarage with tea and coffee served in floral cups and saucers. The menu was comprehensive and the quality of food was excellent. All staff were helpful and made sure our visit was an enjoyable experience. Our en suite room on the first floor was spacious overlooking the church and steeple that is a landmark of Bridgwater. From here we visited Burnham on Sea, Whatchet, Minehead and the Clark’s Village in Street.

Nothing.
