The hotel was easy to find and had ample parking. Staff were friendly and helpful. The Family Room (number 10) was very practical: The twin beds were in a totally separate room with a door which gave the user of that area complete privacy. The bathroom was spotlessly clean. Breakfast was excellent!

I found it tricky to activate the shower function on the bath taps. Unfortunately, there were a couple of areas of the main room that would have benefitted from more thorough vacuuming and dusting. The view from the windows was of an internal courtyard, so not very attractive. However, we were only there for a stopover, so this did not really impact on our stay.

The room was pretty good. Being an older style hotel the rooms are actually quite large, which makes a difference from many nowdays. check in was easy and staff very accommodating. I needed a few things kept chilled overnight and as there are no fridges in the rooms asked them to keep in the kitchen, which was no problem Plenty of parking available on sight. Had dinner in the restaurant which was very nice, my only criticism would be that the service was somewhat slow. definitely a couple of staff members that need a little bit of service training. Overall the restaurant was very good though.

Excellent clean and spacious room. Very quiet and peaceful. Good amenities. Convenient parking.

Although the meal at the restaurant was excellent and the servers did their best, the wait to be served was unreasonable, given that we'd reserved. We ordered promptly and waited a half hour, after which a group arrived and was served immediately. Apparently, group satisfaction is more important than individual diners. We finally got our dinner order 45 min. after we ordered our simple, one-course meal. A pity.

Friendly, efficient, multitasking team of staff. Comfortable spacious room. Great effort, and investment, to enhance this hotel with restaurant & lounge bar into a welcoming place to stay. Walnut wood coffee table in our room a nice touch. Great large shower in spacious ensuite bathroom. Well stocked good value comfortable bar. Evening meal and breakfast very enjoyable. Plenty of parking and electric vehicle charging (not applicable for us). The historic church across the road is worth a visit.

A shelf would be useful in shower. Would like to see the little courtyard spruced up for next spring.

My room was a good size with a step up shower. On the ground floor as I'd requested. Dinner was really good. Lots of choice on the a la carte menu and a specials board too.The squid with alioli was really good and the pork tenderloin was perfect! Breakfast was good although I didn't choose a cooked option on this occasion. Good choice of juices, cereals and fruits. And the pastries were really good!

I find it a bit irritating that one has to ring from reception and, on occasion, the bar, to tell a member of staff one is waiting for service. Service was very slow in the dining room on this occasion but on previous visits there's not been a problem. Maybe short of staff in the kitchen!

This hotel says class when you enter the reception. The furnishings are very tasteful and stylish. My room was just lovely. The bed was a good size and I had a trouser press and an iron and board! The bathroom had a walk in shower. It was a bit tired but it's a very old property so I wasn't expecting modern. There were toiletries provided. Dinner that evening was really good and Olly was a great waiter. Breakfast was very good with loads of choice on the buffet and on the menu. The pastries were scrummy! Our waitress, Sophie?, was brilliant! All in all a lovely stay and I'm looking forward to my stay next week on the way back home from Cornwall

Nothing!!

We just had a stopover for 1 night to break our journey on the M5. The Hotel was ideally situated, just 5 minutes from motorway. The room was spacious, comfortable and clean, although a little tired. With bath and shower over bath. Plenty of room to wind down and relax, with refreshments in room. Facilities were exceptional with everything you may need including iron and ironing board. We had a meal in the restaurant which was really delicious and not too expensive. The breakfast was exceptional. Overall it was good value all round and we will consider booking again.

There wasn't anything we didn't like. It was a little tired, but the new owners have only been there less than a year and are doing a great job. Maybe a few more tea bags and coffee in the room, although I'm sure they would have given extra if we'd asked.

We were given a lovely and spacious room at the end of the corridor. It was nice and quiet. The room has lots of storage space, rather wasted on us, as we were only staying for one night. It was great to have such a lot of space. The bed was large, but a bit bouncier than our own and a bit softer, too. We had a good night sleep. It looks like the bathroom has been renovated was a nice large shower and no plastic shower curtains. Hurray! The staff was very friendly and welcoming. We had dinner there and the food was very nice indeed. The service was also very good. The breakfast was hearty and lots of choices. All in all, very nice and will be happy to stay here again.

Oddly, there was no soap dish and we couldn't put the soap on the basin. Could have done with a tray for shower gel in the shower. Otherwise it was a very nice room.

A one night stay attending a family event. We booked the Walnut Tree at short notice based entirely on its location being convenient for my mother's house. We were greeted by Daniel who was friendly, cheerful and helpful on each occasion we dealt with him during our stay. We were impressed by the room size, which was quiet and clean with a bed we found very comfortable. While the menu in the room information looked interesting and reasonably priced, we were pre-booked elsewhere so cannot comment. The breakfast was excellent, however, with a buffet and cooked options. Fantastic value for money and so much nicer than the chain hotel offerings. Highly recommended.

Spacious rooms, well laid out. Comfy beds, good complimentary toiletries. Cooked breakfast was tasty. Continental choice was excellent. Good location for touring, handy little Tesco opposite. Staff extremely friendly and helpful.

Rooms look like they had recently been refurbished, so furniture was in good condition. Rooms were generally clean, especially the bathroom, which was fab. However, there were a few areas in main room that had been missed. Splashes up doors and dust on ledges. With some extra attention to details like this, it would rate as perfect!!
