It’s a nice hotel with good and spacious rooms (I had the best one with a hot tub), comfortable beds, good breakfasts and very friendly staff. I assume it was renovated recently since it looked quite new. There is a pool on the roof which I never used, but my colleague did and said that the water was warm enough, thanks to mid-November being so good in Malta. There are multiple places you can hang around in - from the cafe area on the 1st floor to the garden with a fountain. Good value for money indeed, despite the fact that the hotel is in a middle of nowhere - getting to Valletta takes 10 minutes by taxi.

That church next to the hotel is just crazy. I’m an atheist, but even of I was religious, I would stop believing in a few days after hearing the bells ringing almost every 15 minutes and, the worst part, that times like 1 and 4 AM don’t bother them - they just keep on banging. On Saturday it was especially crazy, felt like the war had started. I know it’s not hotel’s fault, but the neighbour is crazy. I woke up many times despite the fact that I usually sleep really well.

It was a nice cosy little Hotel close to everything we wanted to do. We got greeted with a glass of prosecco and in the room was a little welcome plate with chocolate and dried fruit waiting. The stuff was super friendly and helpful at any time. I loved the room. It was clean and the bed was so comfortable. The bathroom was clean and the lighting was great. We really enjoyed the à la carte breakfast which was included in our price. We tried everything and it was all so good.

I honestly loved everything

The hotel has simply exceeded our expectation. Everyone was so welcoming, the lady at reception (I am sorry I can’t remember her name) welcomed us upon Check-in and she gave us a list of things to do and see including fun facts about each place, she was incredibly knowledgable of the island. At breakfast, Sandeep was so friendly and memorised our breakfast order and we didn’t even have to say a word when we sat down, he brought our usual order straight away, which just simply made our day every day. :) The room was cleaned every day, even on our last day, the pool area was kept clean and tidy all day and was such a lovely environment that even if we stayed there everyday, it would have been a great holiday! There was a pool bar open all day long and the temperature of the pool was also pleasant, the sun beds comfortable. The restaurants were also really clean and the presentation of the food was next level. All staff were so attentive, one day our room was being made up when we returned from breakfast so we said we will hang around and let them finish, and the cleaner walked around the hotel to find us to let us know when the room was ready for us to return. Nice little touches like this really made us feel comfortable and happy, we would 100% recommend this hotel! :)

Everything was perfect!

The staff, breakfast, facilities and room greatly exceeded my expectations. This hotel was much more luxurious than expected given the very reasonable price. Highly recommend.

The location is the only drawback. The hotel is situated in a small town close to the airport but with very few options for dining etc. Buses and taxis are accessible and make day trips easy, but this is definitely a residential area.

Just had the pleasure of staying at the enchanting Palazzo Castagna Boutique Hotel. From the moment I stepped foot into this beautifully renovated old palazzo, I was captivated by its charm and character. Location-wise, this palazzo couldn't be more perfect! Being just minutes away from the airport, it is incredibly convenient, for every tourist visiting the island, especially after a long journey. The highlight of my mornings was the delectable breakfast served at Palazzo Ghaxaq. Impeccable service!

The hotel was beautiful and the staff were exceptional. The hotel itself has very big rooms and the indoor pool is actually super cool. The breakfast is also very delicious and you don’t mind spending longer periods of time here. The only downside is the location. It’s not too far from Valletta and we were happy to order Bolts to and from, but if you’re not willing to do that then the location isn’t the best. Also the church outside the hotel was extremely annoying. Constantly ringing bells, and there was some kind of religious festival when we stayed which the hotel did not inform us of. Which meant all the roads in the area were closed and there was a SEA of people outside every night. This wasn’t the hotels fault and it wasn’t the worst to deal with, but I do wish they had informed us of this or had a sign up etc. so we could plan a round it. Overall the positives of the hotel far out-way the negatives and I would definitely stay again.

Breakfast exceeded my expectations. The palazzo is beautifully decorated. We had a room with the view of the garden which was absolutely lovely. There were also some events in the garden and even in the village during our stay, and the sound proofing in the room was quite strong. We could barely hear the noises just outside of our room! As per the room, it is very spacious with an extremely soft and comfortable bed. The bathrooms were also extremely well kept and all the facilities were of top quality.

The most lackluster part was the restaurant. I ordered the steak which was served undercooked. Other than that, the ambiance was definitely the best part of the restaurant experience. However, I still felt it was overpriced for what it was.

The hotel was excellent - beautifully decorated and well maintained throughout. The staff were what made the stay exceptional. Every single person was helpful and generous with their time to answer questions, give advice or sort any issues that arose. The breakfast was wonderful and the team in the breakfast room were brilliant too. The area around the hotel has a few things to do but isn't too congested or noisy which makes it a lovely place to stay instead of the bigger noisier cities.

Pros Lovely renovation. Room was very good, comfortable and great shower. Staff very helpful and accommodating. The staff dealt well, assisted by local police, with a disturbance by a guest. Easy parking. Cons There was a private function in the dining room which meant we had dinner in the cafe area. Food and coffee at breakfast was not hot and toast not hot or cooked, this was resolved. The bed whilst comfortable was less than perfect as the bedding had a musty smell about it, as when linen is not adequately dry and aired before putting away.

Everything was lovely. The room was clean and modern. The bathroom was clean, modern and well stocked. Bathrobes and slippers were provided. Hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. The staff were friendly and helpful. This hotel was chosen for proximity to the airport. I am very happy with my stay. Point to note: the church bells did not chime between 21:00 when I arrived and 07:45 the next morning. Thankfully!!! I was very concerned about this after reading the other reviews but there were no bells overnight during my stay.

The balcony door did not lock. I'm sure it was fine on the 3rd floor but I'm weird about these things. There was no extra lock from the inside on the front door either.
