I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of the hostel. Without a doubt, it is not just one of the best, but unequivocally the best hostel I've encountered in my 20 years of travel experiences. The gentleman at the reception was exceptionally professional and friendly. Regrettably, I forgot to inquire about his name, but I do recall he hails from Argentina. The bed curtains and lockers ensured a 100% sense of privacy. Fortunately, my roommates were incredibly quiet during my two-night stay—no snoring or disturbances. I managed to sleep a solid 16 hours on my first night after a grueling 15-hour flight. Thanks to the hostel for providing such a conducive environment for a restful stay. One of the remarkable features was the balance between socializing and privacy. You could easily connect with someone if you felt like it, yet maintain your solitude when not in the mood for socializing. For those seeking interaction, the common area was perfect, and for those feeling weary, the pods offered a cozy retreat. A grocery store conveniently located just around the corner proved to be a blessing. This meant that even if you needed to purchase something after dark, there was no need to venture into the downtown area, ensuring your safety. The well-equipped kitchen catered to all the needs of a traveler. Overall, I have a deep appreciation for this hostel. I would undoubtedly return if I find myself in San Diego again.

The hostel doesn't change its passcode on daily basis which poses a potential security risk, as it could be easily accessed by non-residents. Let's hope that everyone adheres to the rules and ensures the security of the premises.

First and foremost, I would like to extend my heartfelt compliments to the exceptional staff who made my stay very comfortable. The personal warm hospitality they provided were unparalleled. From the front desk to the housekeeping team, everyone was professional, friendly, and always ready to assist. Their dedication to ensuring guests' comfort was evident throughout my entire stay. One of the standout features of this hostel was its cleanliness. Every corner of the property was spotless, creating an inviting and hygienic environment. The rooms, common areas, and bathrooms were all well maintained. The check-in process was smooth, and the staff provided me with all the necessary information about the hostel facilities and services. The common areas were well-designed and provided ample space for guests to relax and socialize. The kitchen was well-equipped, making it easy for guests to prepare their meals. The hostel's thoughtful organization added convenience and comfort to my stay. In conclusion, my experience at this hostel was excellent. The staff's attentiveness, the cleanliness, and the well-organized facilities left a lasting impression. I highly recommend this hostel to anyone seeking a comfortable and enjoyable stay. Whether you're a solo traveler or in a group, this place will meet your expectations.

Stay Classy was hands-down the nicest hostel I’ve ever stayed in and specifically had the nicest dorm. Each pod had a shelf, fan, light, hooks, and full length mirror. A big thank you to Carlos in reception for his warm welcome and helpful tour of the place. Everything was spotless and clearly well maintained. I was impressed by the unique extra touches, like the room near the bathroom with chairs, mirrors and hair dryers that you could use to get ready in without disturbing dorm mates or trying to balance all your stuff on a bathroom sink ledge. Coffee and tea was available 24/7. Both upstairs and downstairs common areas had plenty of space.

It’s possible the wifi was fast in common areas, but in dorm 204 at the end of the hall it was too weak to use from about 9pm on.

Value for money. It was in a central location which made it very easy to uber around. The facilities were brand new and everything was very comfortable.

This was out of the hotels control but our uber driver on drop off told us to be careful around the area as he had been mugged there recently.

layout was nice as was the appearance of the facility, cool public areas, the front desk can be viewed from there as well and staff were always present, super clean, quiet.

a few sketchy folks. lack of privacy since there aren’t any doors to your assigned “area” only a heavy curtain, conversations/activities aren’t private. I wasn’t keen on the mixed (male/female) logging areas. I’d have preferred a female only option.

Surprisingly quiet considering the layout, because everyone's bed is curtained off, you dont get people chatting and hanging around in the sleeping areas, so other than the occasional suitcase rolling past, it's nice n quiet all night. Beds are very comfortable - not stupidly soft, but not paper thin either, just right. Bed and sheets super clean, and bathroom/showers kept very clean. If you just want a comfy bed, with some degree of privacy and a quiet night, this is the perfect compromise between a hostel and a cheap hotel.

The area is pretty rough and there is clearly quite a bad drug problem in the area, but no one caused me any trouble Probably looks worse than it is, and San Diego seems pretty safe despite these problems.

It was an amazing place to crash between flights coming into Tijuana and leaving from San Diego very early the next morning, I had approximately 8 hours to rest and staying in a traditional hotel didn't present benefits commensurate with cost. I have had extremely mixed experiences with hostels in the United States, but have used them abroad so gave this place the benefit of a doubt. The concept reminded me of a combination of capsule hotel that I have stayed in when visiting Japan, and traditional hostel I've stayed in elsewhere in the world. The place exceeded my expectations and I would consider staying here again in the future. The place was extremely clean and comfortable, and the others in my dorm honored quiet hours without exception. The location is great, I am from another big West coast city (Seattle) so the unhoused folks around the area didn't faze me a bit. Very walkable to Gaslamp, and accessible to public transit to other areas of the city. The unhoused crisis is unfortunately a fact of life in the United States at this moment in time; if this concerns you, exercise some caution and you will be fine.

There was absolutely nothing I didn't like. I look forward to my next stay.

This is a good hostel, which is unique in providing large and comfortable beds that each are located in a large (for hostel) space separated by curtains from others. While you can hear the sounds form other guests, thick curtains reduce the noise and it is easy to get a good sleep. Location is close to the Gaslamp quarters and all restraunts in there. There is a very nice ramen restraunt in just a few minutes, and Starbucks is even closer. Showers were clean, though men toilet has only 2 sinks which may not be enough in those rush hours in the morning. Free coffee at the reception, kitchen, filtered and cold water, common areas with chairs and places to work with a laptop - everything is very convinient.

The bed had a squeaky foundation (the part below the mattrass) that made noise if you turn during your sleep. Lockers are a bit narrow to fit a larger suitcase, though you can leave it in your room instead.

Friendly staff. Relaxed and clean inside the hostel. Liked my pod and the bed. Location was close to public transit and I was about to get a quick bus ride to the airport to pick up my partner so I didn’t have to move my car once it was parked. For the value I would stay here again for future visits to the downtown area of San Diego.

If you’re driving in, beware of extremely limited parking in the area. If there’s a Padres baseball game there will probably be none. I had to park in a residential neighborhood east of the hostel over the freeway that was about a 10 minute walk. The area is a bit sketchy so I opted not to walk back to my car at night to grab something I forgot. Watch for trash/feces when walking around outside. These are more so area concerns that have nothing to do with the hostel itself.
