The hotel was lovely, rooms were stylish and clean. The person at the desk was very helpful.
Location was not the best. Very rough neighborhood, lots of homeless people on the streets and sleeping in all of the parking lots. It was difficult to find the hotel as the building is marked BAKER, not Davis which is very misleading. Parking is not easy, many of the lots close to the hotel only allow for parking to 5am. Better parking advice needs to be provided.

Lovely vibe. Very chic. It’s walkable to the Gaslamp district in 10 mins tops and if you’re attending a conference it’s a 20 min walk to the Marriot. 30 minute walk to Balboa Park, too.
I stayed on the ground floor and because the widows are thin, the road noise is very noticeable. Especially Friday/Saturday nights as they’re all playing music to boot. So if you’re a light sleeper, head up a floor, turn on the white noise machine and get some shut eye.

On two occasions, the hotel staff went above and beyond to assist me with a small request. Their warm hospitality and genuine kindness made my stay in San Diego much more enjoyable and peaceful. Thank you!
Not much to add here — the room was as expected, though the floor was slightly dirty. Slippers weren’t provided but would be a helpful addition! The neighborhood was rather noisy, but the hotel provided earplugs and a white noise machine by the bed.

Staff were great, location is very central to public transport and down town. The hotel is exceptionally clean, prior to my stay I read negative comments about noise, I can honestly say I heard no noise above the usual traffic noise you would hear any were. Excellent value for money and I would not hesitate to stay at The Baker again
Honestly there was nothing I didn't like.

I like the budget friendly pricing and the idea of a self operated hotel. There is no check in counter but they replies very fast on chats for any queries. I would recommend to download their app and everything will be super smooth. Overall my experience was really good considering the area and prices as compare to other similar hotels.
1. The process for checkin was bit annoying because the system was not identifying my face but it worked when I uploaded a ID card already scanned...I guess a clear instruction could be helpful. 2. Also few things like the cleaning is not included in the hotel price was not clear from booking.com however it was clearly mentioned in their app. 3. The room shown in pictures was different then in real...there were no windows in my room...I can assume because of the unavailability due to conference but needs to be clearify while booking.

The rooftop balcony was beautiful! I really like that everything was contactless and done through the app, it was so easy!
Very small rooms, we were walking on top of each other! Not terrible but just something to note in case you are looking for something spacious.

It had all the amenities I needed and was clean. It was also fairly close to where all the downtown action was. It was quiet and private in the room where I was. And maybe because I stayed during Comic Con, my room had a welcome kit with complementary water bottles and snacks.
The rooms are very small, but I didn’t mind it because it made me feel like I was in a European hotel.

i love the style of the property and location
The room didn’t have enough storage/ shelving for personal belongings in the bathroom or bedroom. Had to set everything on the ground or clutter up nightstand which already doesn’t have much room. Would have been nice to have a slender table against wall for personal belongings. Also no where to hang multiple towels.
