The rooms

Pool was small and shallow , jacuzzi not working. Noisy young group of about 10 were playing techno music on the balcony of the atria and shouting across to each others balconies - needs more management control and guests given guidance on acceptable noise levels and disturbing other guests with inconsiderate behaviors especially when there are large young groups staying

Our hotel room was lovely, modern, clean and very spacious we also had a balcony over looking the water gardens. The staff were very friendly and helpful if we needed anything it was sorted straight away. We had a meal in the restaurant which was amazing from flavour to choice and portion size all fantastic.

The car park is shocking for the size of the hotel it’s not got nowhere near enough parking spaces, we was aware it was first come first serve but didn’t realise how small it would be when we arrived we was planning on paying for a weeks pass but it’s not worth it if you do get a space then go out your not guaranteed a space when you come back so you would then have to park your car somewhere and pay for parking again!

Nice spacious room, with enough furniture to hold everything. Our room gave onto the atrium of the hotel, with some pools & water features, and this gave a pleasant and unusual ambience. Bathroom looked newly-renovated, with good lighting and an excellent shower &c - although, oddly, no charger socket...? Bedroom lighting and tv also good. Breakfast room overlooks the bay and is light and spacious. Good spread of food, although biassed towards British rather than Continental cold plate. Parking under hotel is very reasonable at £4/24 hours.

The basement bar area - Sir Norman's - is a bit strident in decor (and sound on Friday and Saturday nights, so were were pleased to be on the 4th Floor, unlike friends who were almost directly above!). We ate in there one evening, and it was ok; the Bonsai restaurant was better, though, We did have one breakfast quibble: the sausages were a bit grim, although everything else was spot-on.

The Sefton is an elegant old hotel. A little dated, but classic. Great sized rooms, fabulous breakfast which had absolutely EVERYTHING, terrific staff. Really enjoyed conversations with Alex, a friendly guy with a great smile and highly personable. Great bar and restaurant When we arrived, our fridge was out of action. Upon requesting a new fridge, one arrived and quickly replaced the old one

We had an internal room on the fourth floor facing the atrium space. We found the room incredibly stuffy and hot. A fan used from the second day helped, but this difficult issue to rectify needs to be addressed. The carpets are now worn and soiled, which impacts the cleanliness rating. It's definitely time for a replacement floor covering. The bathroom was clean, apart from a line of silicone, which was black and mouldy. This seems to be an easy fix and should be replaced.

The hotel is in a good location, it's right on the sea front and close to the centre of town. The breakfast was excellent. The atrium was lovely. The bedroom was clean and tidy and spacious. The majority of the staff were pleasant and helpful. Separate coloured lifts for different parts of the hotel made sure that there was never any overcrowding. We loved our stay.

It should be made clear the carpark is very tight making it difficult to park. The hotel would benefit from some small touches to spruce it up. The pool could be so much more, I suspect lack of staff make it hard to look after. There was a limit of 6 at a time but I think 4 would have been better number as the pool is quite small but it could have been a really lovely addition to the hotel with just a little more attention.

Location is very good if you want to be in the centre of Douglas. Breakfast food has a good selection and the hot breakfast is very tasty. We had a sea view but we’ve had one before in a previous stay and opted for one again.

The heat, our room was like an oven and didn’t seem to be anywhere to turn it down. Parking can be very very very tight if your last in. Lots of different coloured paint on the pillars. We manage to get parked in there all but one night but managed to get a space in the street just outside the parking area. It’s only £4 per night if you pay for each night individually.

Location was great, right next door to the Villa, opposite the promenade and right on the high street Beautiful building, very regal from the outside, a stunning atrium. The restaurant looked amazing but we didn’t have time to go in there

Rooms are becoming a little unloved, the pillows felt like they had lived a long life. I’ve stayed on the island many times, and this seems to be the case across many places and is probably a sign of the times. Reception staff are very old school and not the most helpful. (Side note, I really don’t recommend the taxi company this hotel uses, the driver we had was vile).

hotel staff are magnificent, and extremely helpful, especially Margaret who was friendly, informative and helpful. Breakfast was good but expensive compared to alternatives outside. Location is perfect on Douglas Promenade. Close to public transport. Room was a good size with seating area and balcony overlooking the Atrium. Hotel car parking available.

The layout of the bathroom was poor. There was plenty of space but used badly. Access to shower was impossible for me as a large restricted person. Shower would be improved with wider/ easier access.

The location of The Sefton Hotel was excelent for us as i have mobility issues and found it cental for all amenities .eg beech shops and busses . We had a double atrium room which was exceptionaly bright clean and large ,and a beautiful modern spacious bathroom with walk in shower as i requested.We had the added bonus of an atrium balcony overlooking an internal garden with ponds. plants and waterfalls very attractive .Breakfast had every thing you need plus Manx kippers to order. The on site bar and resturant were excelent i would recomend the small platter for 2 . We really enjoyed our stay at the Sefton Hotel as every member of staff were so welcoming and helpfull especially Mandi on reception.

parking was available on first come first served so we dident use the car to get round as transport was so easy.

Room very clean and comfortable with a king size bed. Love the balcony overlooking the atrium. Location amazing very central to all the shops, bars and restaurants. Hotel breakfast best I’ve had.The hotel staff were so friendly and helpful, as were the cleaning and bar staff. We preferred the room being serviced every three days as opposed to daily. Also if you wanted something in between these times you can ask for it and it was always quickly delivered to the room.

The hotel has been upgraded to the frontage and looks very smart. However I think it is time for the atrium and the back entrance of the hotel and car park to have a lick of paint, if you are arriving by car and parking in the car park your first impression of the hotel is not good. It looks dirty and uninviting. Which is a pity because the front facade looks very clean and smart. Another priority should be new carpets both in the bedrooms and the stairs and communal areas. They are all really shabby now.
