Fantastically located hotel in a wonderful environment surrounded by lots of restaurants, bars, galleries and shops. It felt very safe to wander around and had everything which we loved. The staff were brilliant, particularly Boipele, the lady in guest relations/concierge from the NTC Tours company, who sorted out all our 'demanding' travel arrangements. Breakfast was also great. Excellent choices and we especially appreciated the local South African breakfast. Great hotel.

As someone who travels all over the world regularly, the rooms were small for what you had to pay. I had just come from a stay in Cape Town where the rooms were absolutely excellent from a size and facilities perspective, so I was disappointed by the size and especially the lack of storage for a 6 night stay. The open wardrobe, lack of drawer space, a damaged toilet door which had to be repaired to open and close properly, and even then not fully as it didn't lock was not brilliant for a major hotel brand. I also lost my expensive pair of Oakley's during the transfer from one room to another. It was never found which was a shame. This however did not detract from our stay which we still loved!

Hospitality was top notch! The staff were so sweet and well-mannered. Property was clean and we felt so safe the entire time that we were there. Pool looked great although we didn't have time to go for a swim. Really appreciated how well the temperature was regulated as it was winter but felt so comfortable! Bathroom also comes with fantastic toiletries. Would return if I had a business trip in Jo'burg again!

The buffet spread could've had slightly more variety. What was served was delicious but would be nice to have something else apart from the scrambled eggs, bacon, baked beans and sausages that were staples every morning. Might be good to mix those up a little. Hash browns, baked goods and waffles were fantastic though!!

My recent stay at the Marriott Hotel in Melrose, Johannesburg, was truly exceptional. From the moment I arrived, the staff were incredibly welcoming and attentive, ensuring a seamless experience. The room was immaculate, spacious, and beautifully decorated, offering top-notch amenities and a very comfortable bed. Dining at the hotel's restaurant was a highlight, with delicious food and outstanding service. The well-maintained facilities, including the fitness center and pool, added to the luxurious experience. Overall, this is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed at, and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Johannesburg

I liked that the hotel and was very grateful that it had running water when I know many residents and schools in the vicinity did not.

I liked the hotel, and if I ever had to stay in Joburg again I would choose it again. Mostly because i felt safe. Coming from Europe my visit to Joburg was a massive eye opener into how the third world lives.....non functioning traffic lights, non road worthy vehicles driving everywhere and breaking down in the middle of the road, no running water in schools and homes....terrible roads, and electricity power cuts are considered normal by the residents of Joburg....just a crazy backwards terribly run city!

The Breakfast was great. We liked the buffet and the many options. We also appreciated that items cooked by the chefs were ordered and collected by the waiters, as this prevents congestion. The place is clean and the colour theme at the rooms are as serene as the place.

The dinner was just a disappointment, that the second night we opted to eat out at one of the nearby restaurants. The aircon in the room was a problem. On the first night the maintenance person came to fits it, after struggling for some time. H also exclaimed upon coming inside that it was freezing inside the room, the aircon was set at 19 and could not be adjusted upwards to warm temperature. In the morning we could not adjust it to lower temperatures.

The location of the hotel is superior and allows going out all day and night without safety concerns. The bars nearby are very nice and therefore the hotel was best choice. The staff is super helpful and even when small hick-ups occured everybody tried to resolve immediately. Best just speaking up friendly asking resolution.

The check-in after a flight of 11 hours took simply to much time for a tired traveller. I understand staff asked to go through a specific procedure but the attempt to tell me details like breakfast times 1am morning is simply too much. A fast track check in would be appreciated.

The reservation was canceled due payment issue without notifying me and they overed my booking at almost double the rate through them With the help of booking.com .com payment was completed and the reservation was confirmed During check-in, the receptionist asked me to pay an additional fee however my taxa and fees were included in my reservation Air condition control was not working at all after almost 5 calls to the reception they send someone to fix it

We were not informed that it was paid valet parking. Upon checking out we were asked to pay 350 rands for the valet parking. We assumed a chain as big as Marriot would have free valet parking. However when we expressed this concern, we were not charged but given complimentary parking. Make sure staff inform guests about this.

Bongani was very friendly & helpful , n we were surprised by an upgrade to a junior suite which was Marvelous after sitting in traffic for 3 hrs.. Bongani assissted us speedily, as well as gave us a late check out, which suited us perfectly. Location is Excellent Will most definitely be back.... Even porters were extra friendly & helpful

The carpet in room didn't seem like it had been cleaned or vacuumed. We requested an extra gown n slippers, as there was only 1 in the closet It never came.... Also, wen they turned down our room for the eve, of the 2 bedside lindt chocs , one was just an empty wrapper...shocking

It was an excellent breakfast. Breakfast and room staff are well trained and friendly. It's so nice to see the concierge working in such a friendly manner!

Unfortunately, the reception staff failed to act as politely as the rest of the staff at this elegant hotel.
