On arrival at Hoeveld House, staff were quickly on-hand to check us in, provide a welcome drink at that point and show us to our allocated room. Unfortunately, we arrived on a Sunday when the restaurant was not open, but staff were very helpful advising where best to find a good restaurant locally. The property is very well situated for easy access to Sandton City and loads of shopping places and restaurants. As it is situated in Johannesburg, security is always an issue. However, the property boasts an extensive level of security. We decided to leave our vehicle there and use an Uber to move around to go shopping and explore locally. The property boasts 5 well-appointed rooms. Ours was equipped an extra large king-size bed and with a lovely big bath, large enough for two. There was ample hot water and plenty of towels and soap etc on hand. The room also boasted a Nespresso machine for a 'proper' coffee which was very welcome too. We also had a sitting area and two televisions to watch, on in the sitting area and one in the bedroom. Breakfast consisted of a continental option with cereals, fruit and yoghurt, as well as a fully cooked option with a choice of egg. There is also some flexibility should anyone have special requirements. As we had a late flight, a late check-out was requested and graciously granted although this may not always be possible, depending on whether the room is required for new guests coming in. In terms of service, nothing was too much to ask. All the staff were keen and eager to help or to answer questions and provide advice. The Manager, Andrew was lovely and is able to help make bookings for tours and visits to other places in the area should you require. Overall, we would definitely stay there again. If you are looking for a very secure, very quiet place to stay with good links to local restaurants and shopping facilities, then consider staying at Hoeveld House!

Not much at all.

Absolutely stunning accommodation! The rooms were spacious, and one of them appeared to have been freshly painted. The garden surrounding the property was beautiful, with lovely birds adding to the peaceful atmosphere. It was so enjoyable that we ended up spending the entire evening relaxing by the garden and enjoying the pool view. A highlight was the mild weather—even in winter, it wasn’t cold. The breakfast was homemade, with a limited selection, but everything was delicious. The staff were incredibly supportive and friendly. It’s also important to mention that the place felt very safe, with security present on-site. The hotel itself is just a few minutes’ drive from Mandela Square, which is full of great restaurants. Secure parking was also provided.

Johannesburg carrying a bit of a scary reputation, we are so happy to have chosen this property for a leisure stay while waiting for our return international flight. This property is very luxury, with very high security and a magnificence garden, pool, and outdoor rest area. Suitable for both business and travel guests. As our flight was at midnight, Andrew the very efficient and kind manager allowed us to hang around later then the official check out, a favor that we did not take for granted, but fully appreciated. Prince was also very professional, helpful with all our needs...including cooking a marvelous dinner on location for us. What can we say more, maybe that we could happily have stayed 3 or 4 days on location just to unwind, either upon arrival of a long flight, or in preparation for the next one? Thanks to both of you Andrew and Price for such a wonderful last stop in our brilliant African experience. ps: ask the property to refer you to a secure taxi co. Absolutely loved our stay! This boutique hotel was a true gem – stylish, cozy, and full of character. The staff were incredibly welcoming and made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. The highlight was definitely the breakfast – fresh, beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious with something for everyone. Every morning felt like a treat! We’ll definitely be back and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a special, relaxing stay.

The Bed was superbly comfortable, the shower was perfectly large with excellent water pressure and even temperature, and the breakfast delicious. Even the nespresso machine had an interesting selection of coffee types and flavours. All in all the place has wonderful character, extremely comfortable with a beautiful garden, and really well located in the safe part of Joburg.

It would need to be really nit-picking to find anything negative to say about the place....one can hear the water pipes when one of the rooms next door are showering, but that's really nothing to get upset about in any way.

The food was good

Unfortunately u had to let them know if u were having dinner the day before , my friend cancelled as her daughter was sick , so I had to pay for her dinner , plus a whole bottle wine , but I only drank half . The waiter didn’t explain it wasn’t by the glass or there was another option. Also the bedroom & bathroom windows were dirty & the scatter cushions on the bed & chair were dirty. It was ok , I won’t stay there again

Beautiful property with immaculate grounds, in a lovely area. Nice and quiet, peaceful and lovely and relaxing.

You can’t bring any snacks or drinks into the property, which we understand. However, there aren’t any snacks and very limited drinks to be able to buy. We even struggled to get large bottles of water. I also felt the breakfast option wasn’t the best and although the staff were very friendly, we often had to go find them in the staff quarters as there was no one around in the main house.

We pre-ordered dinner which was 3 courses, absolutely divine. Our room was pool side, it was quiet & the most comfy bed & linen etc. My husband is a 'pillow snob' so was very happy with the pillows which a lot of Hotel/Establishments fail miserably at getting right. Generous toiletries but no tissues in room/bathroom. Breakfast was delicious, ticked every box. Property is located in a quiet, safe location. Wish we could have had another couple of nights here, Oh well there is always next time. Thank You

Only a couple of minor things, fridge was not turned on, no waste paper basket only a very small one in bathroom & again no tissues.

The staff was accommodating and provided for all of our needs. The pool was having some extensive work done during our visit so it was not able to be used. The property experienced some significant impacts from the load-shedding that happens throughout the country and it caused significant disruptions to our stay. The staff was very accommodating and tried to work around the issues. The room was beautiful and comfortable to stay in.

The most significant impact was the load shedding that the whole country is experiencing right now. While the property had a generator and the power returned fairly quickly, it was still a nuisance and caused devices to not be able to charge or interruptions viewing activities on TV.

I had a fantastic stay at this boutique guest house. Andrew, the super host, and his team really went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable. The house was beautifully furnished and had a warm, inviting feel. I especially loved the real orchids placed around the building—they added a lovely touch. My room was exceptional: stylish, clean, and very cozy. The attention to detail and the friendly service made my stay memorable. I highly recommend this guest house for a special getaway.
